  1. This is sort of like "Nothing is official until Brian Rosenthal tweets it". Until Norm weighs in on shooting mechanics, nothing is official.
  2. Nor me, when I was told who it was. Yet, I've had numerous requests for tickets, so others must know about him. 2 of the 3 acts I hadn't heard of = dinosaur.
  3. I didn't articulate it well, but I was referring to two steps taken before the hop--typically right after the catch on the low block--not the hop (presumably a jump stop) and then a step. I still think that is travelling, but of course I could be wrong again.
  4. Actually, she might have more trouble getting playing time at Illinois, with all the young players it is bringing in (although I don't know how many of the 7 newcomers are post players). When one considers the "players we have coming in", Shepard is the only true post player, and even she has versatility. If White is good enough, we have plenty of room for her to play, and there is no way she should have been scared off by any players we have signed. Depsite her height, Havers isn't an inside, physical, back to the basket post player, plus she's a bit of a project. Playing right away should haved been a plus for Nebraska, given the dearth of post players in the program and among our signees and verbals. It sounds like she just wanted to go out of state and experience something new.
  5. We get our share. There has just been a bunch of upper D1 level recruits for a state as small as Nebraska. But you raise a good point about the relationship of this staff with the club coaches. I don't know where that is at right now. I thoought we had mended some fences in that area, but I am not sure. Row 6 may have some insight here. The one that was really strange was Briana Craig, whose parents both played for Nebraska. Not sure what all went down there, but Deb Patterson, for God's sake??
  6. I'm not a fan of the Illini style of play or its coach. She must know what she's doing, but from a distance it seems strange for a small town Nebraska girl going to a huge school a long way away. To each his own, I guess. I'm a Nebraskan through and through, so I always struggle to see why anyone would leave.
  7. Please forward to Kidney.
  8. I'll take the pressure off of Norm. Doug Phelps
  9. I'm a little puzzled as to why she'll only have two seasons to compete for SJSU instead of 3. 5 years to play 4, so I assume she sits out a year for the transfer and then has 2 to play.
  10. MacFarlene came in with some pretty decent hype, but lasted only two years at UNL. Larry Cox played all four years at dear old Nebraska. He was the starting center on a team that had one of the better back courts in the college game. HB do you (or anyone else) remember who they were? I would say Jerry Fort and Ricky Marsh
  11. Well, he's coming back. A very nice gesture to dear old dad.
  12. I would need lots of beer to make that watchable. Plus I think it would generally mean fewer Ws for the good guys. But beer cures most everything, so I would take you up on it every once in awhile.
  13. Not even close to true
  14. Have you been watching the game the way it's been the past few years? I'd hardly call what it is now exactly...stimulating. But that's due to the officating: allowing the two step hop by post players, and the physical play, IMO, not because we have a 35 second shot. If they change it, 30 seconds would be much better than 24. 24 would just have a post feed and hold, and some two man game, but no real offense. And it would heavily favor the more talented teams.
  15. I heard a few people start to question the Erstad hire after the OSU fiasco HB, what do you think? I like the guy myself and just think we need to give him time to get this thing rolling again. I like Ersty a lot, and enjoy listening to him talk about baseball. I like his intensity and straight-forward approach. I tend to be patient and realistic about these things, but I admit I was wavering during much of this season. Not sure what I think of Bolt yet; he makes some strange decisions on sending runners home. But I like the approach on the other bases. It's too early to tell if Ersty will recruit well enough. This team will have big player losses after the season, so there better be help on the way. It was nice to followup on the Arkansas sweep with a 10-2 win today. Hopfully we'll take care of business the rest of the series.
  16. Keep it the same. Making it less would just favor the places where recruiting is much easier. If they go to 24 seconds, I have two choice aisle seats in club seating which will be available. That's not even watchable.
  17. And we have no true post player. I would add Hooper to the list of those from whom offseason improvement would be a big help. If she could add the dribble drive to her game it would be huge--ala Griffin her senior year. I think she will. She wasn't healthy for much of the offseason last year. She's pretty determined, and she has to know this part of her game will make it much harder to defend her.
  18. That's the story of sports--as a fan, I was demoralized with losing the Ohio State series at home; especially game 2, which we flat out blew. Losing patience. Maybe we just suck. Then, we sweep Arkansas, including a no-hitter. Go figure.
  19. A "Branch" Davidian? Damn, Cip, you are on a roll. Well-played!
  20. Howland's name surfacing as a replacement for Rice.
  21. Yes, I was surprised this wasn't brought up sooner in the thread. Who knows if it played into Miles thinking. Publically, at the time, there was mention of Miles having a tough time even reaching Fahro. In any event, Miles caeres a lot about chemistry and claims to be selective about the type of person he recruits in addition to the talent level. Perhaps Fahro checks out fine in spite of the bookstore issue, but I can see why Miles may have thought it wasn't worth the chance at the time.
  22. I'd be fine with him landing there, as Doc is good people, but I don't expect it to happen. He has always been so close to Billy G. I don't see Tech going with someone so tight with the last guy who didn't work out. I realize Billy not working out had a lot to do with non-basketball issues, but when programs go through change, they tend to go in a different direction. Doc and Billy have been joined at the hip as friends and basetball-wise for a long time. I don't think that will be helpful to Doc with regard to this specific job.
  23. Not sure that was anger--more like perspective.
  24. Just wanted to chime in with what a great job the coaching staff did with the game plan for A & M. The way they fronted Bone was interesting. This was just a great effort all around. 2 sweet 16s in 4 years is pretty special for Nebraska.
