Would assume he is related to, and perhaps the son of, former NU football player Mark Daum, who was from out that way.

Brace yourself when you do. I went to the game last night. I sincerely hope I am wrong, but I honestly have no idea what Yori was thinking on this one. Tvrdy does not look like an upper D1 player. Just have to think politics was part of this. She is a nice high school player, but I can't see how she projects to the Big 10 level. She is an average shooter with mid range. Not very quick. Average handles, although she is pretty strong in taking it to the rack. Point guard size with maybe, maybe a 2-3 guard game. Good tenacity and steadiness, but her athleticism and skills are not currently going to work at the level she'll be attempting to play. Row 6, for whom I have great respect, disagrees with me on Hannah. Let's hope he has lots of scoreboard the next few years.

Now that's a helluva effort, Silverbacked! Standhardinger has nothing on you!

Wish I could be there, but will be out of state. Have a great time, and get some fuel to help us upset the Gophers.

Not sure I agree. Miles makes basketball fun. I think there is a good chance Miles could have channelled Christian's passion for basketball (for those who used to go to practice, it's impossible to deny the effort and passion CSH brought to the game), and good things would have happened. What I don't know, from a technical standpoint, is how CSH would do in Miles' motion offense. But since it does not include a bunch of structured sets, I have a hunch he would have done fine. If the Hawaii coach can get this out of him, why couldn't Miles? Would love to have the guy on offense this year. I think all those who bitch like hell when Talley or Ray go one on three at the end of the shot clock and launch a bomb would like to have him as well.

Agree that Johnson was unbelievable. What a great, clutch performance. Too bad it is detracted from by the absolutely pitiful perfromance by the officiating crew.

Good BDSC memories, not necessarily in order (Warning: Young people may not get many of these): 1. Fans throwing shoes out onto the court when Jerry Shoecraft was introduced in the starting lineup; 2. Moe flailing his arms and accidently clocking his assistant, Tom Baack; nearly knocked him out; 3. The band playing and singing "Hey Moe" from the 3 stooges when Moe had it going a bit; 4. Who Shot Stipanovich; 5. The first time the "Sit Down Norm" signs appeared; 6. Curtis Moore dunks; 7. Greg Downing finishing alley oops; 8. Twice winning to get into the NIT final four, with New York New York blaring on the speakers; 9. Chubick's block against KU; 10. Johnson's shot against KU; Reid's shot against MSU; 11. Wyoming coach Benny Dees getting baited by Husker fans to give the ref the choke sign and Benny getting immediately ejected; 12. Everything about beating Arkansas and Eddie Sutton in '82 (Eric Williams, nice job); 13. Bobby Moore's half court shot to beat KU in '78.

A Poll: Non-scientific and Non-basketball related.

49r, you're killing me! Granted, some SUV guys don't understand STOPPING in those things is just as difficult on snow and ice as for any other vehicle. But properly used--like hauling my kids, big dog, fishing and hunting gear--off road in Cherry County--the SUV is a wonderful thing.... -
So, do we have another B1G win left in us this season?

It's also Cip's favorite number! -
Refs are ruining college basketball. Not only was the sequence where the blatent charge by KU not called, and the roll on the ground scrum was called, but assessing the wrong guy the foul when Withey committed the foul in the last minute reatly affectedt he outcome. I'm not sure Johnson gets off the 3 if Withey isn't in the game setting picks. How 3 refs couldn't have seen who committed the foul is beyond reason. The cynic would suggest Withey couldn't foul out at that stage. That last minute might have been the worst ever. Surprised ISU fans didn't do more than fire a few mini-megaphones at Johnson for his dunk at the buzzer.

Good blog in OWH by Sam McKewon; perhaps someone can link. Discuss the NCAA seed and possible destinations in addtion to general things about the team. Alludes to the high level coaching moves and adjustments by Yori with this team. Sam is good.

Good point about the possible lack of a home court (I believe they want to start construction immediately after the Boys StateTournament on the volleyball project). The way Creighton is going, we might get a rematch with the Jays in the CBI, and could use Century Link.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner! dennis, I can attest to the quality of the jerky. Another very fine Cip product.

Even though I am a bit of a spendthrift, I don't see too many $8.00 beers in my future.

i can't see just one more win getting us into the NIT. The "must finish .500 or better" rule was axed a few years ago, but I still don't think they've taken a team with a below .500 record. Winning just 1 more game would put us at 14-17 (5-13). There's no way that is gonna get us into the NIT. Even winning two more games and finishing 15-16 (6-12) would be a hard sell for the NIT selection committee unless we go on a little run in the big 10 tournament I don't think the selection committee even has a choice if a team isn't .500. I think we'll beat Minnesota and that's it. But this team has beat my expectations all year so let's hope that keeps happening. -
Maddie Simon sat with her parents in Section A. Hannah Tvrdy and Jess Shepherd were there also. I didn't recognize anyone else. Any recruit would have to be impressed with the crowd. I didn't see if any Kastaneks were in the house, since I sit far from where most of the Iowa fans were located. Glad we could make it 5 in a row against Iowa

Another Miles profile and a rhetorical question

If you were the Minnesota AD and did that, you would be fired on the spot. -
I've gotta disagree with you on one major thing: Iowa is much more talented than Nebraska. The problem with the Hawkeyes is that they're really young and they just can't win close games. They've lost five Big Ten games when they've led or been tied in the last minute. Next year I would expect them to be a solid NCAA Tournament team with essentially the same players. But what a great, gut-check win by this group. It's not easy to win with only five players. Miles obviously is an outstanding coach, and I can't wait to see what he does once he gets "his guys" on the court. Agree with GATA on this one. Iowa has a lot of good, young talent, plus good length, which bothered us throughout the game. They have struggled to win the close game, but I expect them to be good next year. I also wouldn't rule them out form the dance this year. I expect them to pound us in Iowa City; motivation will not be an issue for them in that game. The talent and depth differential I witnessed yesterday makes the Husker win very impressive.
