  1. A lot of the turnover does make sense with new coaches, but I still have trouble understanding the dynamic with Laryn Brooks, who played 35 minutes a game with good success. Will be interesting to see how Indiana and Minnesota do over time as the coaches assemble teams with their own recruits. At Minny, the new coach certainly inherited a lot of talent.
  2. I remember thoses teams and your buddy was correct...or so I was told. Moe wanted Dave to touch the ball each offensive set. And when you think about it, that was a pretty sound strategy. And think what they could have done with a 3 point shot then. Harvey Marshall's outside shots being worth 3 would have made teams pay more for packing it in on Dave--or cleared it up for him a little.
  3. "They"? How 'bout "We"? I think it is fine to be excited about the team. Pitching and defense are solid. More depth than in previous years. Not a lot of speed or power, but it's hard to have it all. Looks like a regional team, if not super-regional. Depth of pitching will make us tough in a tournament format.
  4. Sad thing, it is happening outside of the sports arena also. As a small business owner, I see it with young employees also. Instant gratification required, things that would be a speed bump for us become giant walls. Move on if we aren't told how wonderful we are each day, and what can you do for ME? So, in addition to rankings and recruiting services, parents must be getting the kids' perspective out of whack also.
  5. it rained a bunch during the night. It let up within the last half hour and is not raining now in Southeast Lincoln. But still cloudy. I would think it will be difficult to get tonight's game in.
  6. Row, what's going on at Indiana? Didn't Brooks start and play big minutes? I don't understand the world anymore.
  7. Uh oh.......
  8. Were you on a Hastings team? I remember that Hastings's Steve White give em all that they could handle. I might be getting some of those teams confused, but didn't Hastings have like 3 or 4 shots to win the game and couldn't get any of them to drop. No, I was on the Alliance team. Lincoln east won the championship that year on a half court shot. I'm not sure who they played. Could of been Hastings. Papillion
  9. But speaking of "moves in his arsenal", Normie, Walt's Rail-yard moves are unparalleled.
  10. Went to the selection show watch party at Hendricks. Good turnout of media and coaches from other sports. Everyone in good spirits. Rachel still using two crutches. Shimmy very fun and vocal, working the crowd and players. Shawn The Ghost Eichorst talked to exactly zero fans and boosters.
  11. Haven't heard, but he was in uniform on the bench this week. Did not notice if he went out to the pen yesterday. I thought I heard Greg and Lane say he was about a week away. He was the designated foul ball shagger today. Didn't go to the pen
  12. Yes. Athletic team; good shooters. Despite playing very fast, only 2 turnovers the first half.
  13. I thought there was a thread on Johnny, but I couldn't find it. In any event, he had 20 last night in the semifinal upset of Gretna. You can watch him play at 1:00 today in the final against Sidney.

  15. Best hoops board for Miles around!
  16. From all sources, it is reported that White is a really good shooter. What I can't get my arms around is his range. So Bluejay's points seem to involve fair discussion. The good news is if White ends up shooting 35% rather than 40, that's still decent, and way better than some guys who launched a bunch of 3s this year (one guy going 9/58 in league play just boggles the mind. If Norm's prognostication is too be critiqued, it perhaps should be that he has that guy taking 120 3s, vs. his thoughts on White).
  17. Miles is on notice, listen to sports radio. Thats the consumer speaking. No one is ready to jump ship but they don't want to see a repeat of this next season. Honestly, it's not. Not really. The consumer speaking is the attendance at games. When that dips -- and with PBA being new and cool, we're talking dipping to 11,000-12,000 -- that's speaking. NU averaged 15,569 at home. The team could be 5-25 and still get 8,000-9,000 in that building, so we're not talking Devaney standards. 11,000-12,000 would be noticeable. I totally agree, Im assuming most of those I heard in Brewsky's last night and on sports radiio today will back up thier words with actions. It's possible they may have been over-stating thier position after watching Penn St block 16 Nebraska shots last night. Not sure you understand the Husker fan base if you base it on the people who call into talk radio (and in some cases, the idiots putting on the show). That demographic is by nature hyper-opinionated (of course, so are message board posters. And if you go to some boards other than this one, you would also think the sky has fallen, the fans will disappear, and the coach should be fired). Same with mouthy guys hanging out in sports bars. We have a big base of good fans who have more patience than these boneheads, and who still enjoyed supporting the team this year. I usually find the vocal sorts you are listening to don't even go to the games. I will say that the angst of the "newbies" has been sorta funny to watch. I've suffered through seasons like this many times in the past. But the folks who thought it's all going to be different now due to last year have done some whining out of proportion to the problem. A bunch take it personally, and sound like they are entitled to great seasons every year.
  18. I'll go with Iowa by a comfortable margin. Then again I know nothing I wasn't going to say anything. But then I changed my mind. Scoreboard 49r. Faux Sandhills guy falls to the authentic version.

  21. No, it'd be the absence of a post. Nebraska didn't get a ton of good shots in part because there wasn't a reasonable, healthy post to keep a D more honest. It's a major, glaring weakness. Perhaps Marrow by himself helps resolve that, but I think another recruit would help. I don't disagree that the lack of post was huge. But we did get a decent number of good shots this year. And missed them. Benny's wide open 10 footer from the corner down the stretch yesterday was an example. Not having to guard 2 or 3 guys on the floor was a big factor. I'd still rank having numerous poor shooters #1, followed by the post situation you mention, followed by no point guard on offense.
  22. Norm, you know I love ya, but am I out of line for sensing that you are a little late to the party on this? I mean the capital letters and back to back posts, as if this is a revelation. Since December it was painfully obvious we were a horrible shooting team, and it was the single biggest factor in us having a bad team. Kind of like after the ship sinks thinking that big friggin' hole in the side of the boat is a problem.
  23. Avery's press conference was also a highlight, when he spoke from the heart about how proud of the team he was, and how he was cheering for Shavon. I'm not a crier, but I cried then.
  24. It's all about accountability, Jimmy. You sure that's not a selfie?
  25. I up-arrowed that just for the history. Well-played.
