  1. Big problems with this team. Today's effort was very discouraging.
  2. Bad start to the game tonight. Horrible pitch selection at the plate. Bad defense. But we hung in there. Boldt has it going again. But i just don't know if we are any good. Alvarado and Dilday struggled again. Was hoping they were the real deal. Still early.
  3. Do you have a link to video? I think I saw it on the World Herald site; sorry, I'm not able to link. Lubach was out tonight with concussion systems due to a play at the plate Sunday...maybe that's what Erstad was pissed about? I haven't seen the film though. That was the speculation by one of the TV stations.
  4. He was responsible for breaking some hearts in Omaha this year: That alone makes me like him.
  5. Hope this doesn't work like the 'ol Sports Illustrated jinx......
  6. Do you have a link to video? I think I saw it on the World Herald site; sorry, I'm not able to link.
  7. Does anyone know anything about why Ersty was yelling at Heller after the games yesterday? Saw the tape of it, but have no idea what triggered it. Heller does seem a lot like Van Horn personality wise. Prickly and edgy. Which works better if he's your guy.
  8. Yep, count me in on the boat that is concerned right now. I was one who thought it was just a bump in the road that ALL teams go through, but right now it's like we can't even find a road to drive on. What really troubles me is the errors we have in key situations. The two out hitting in key situations. We need to right the ship, and we need to right it fast. As seen earlier in this season, we have the horses to compete. Something though is out of whack at the moment. Actually we haven't hit well all season. It remains to be seen whether we have the horses to compete offensively. On weekend series we have had little clutch hitting all year, have had few crooked number innings. it looked early like the true freshmen: Schreiber, Dilday and Alvarado might really help, but the scouting reports must have identified some weaknesses. They still look like good players long term, but for now it's not happening.
  9. You have a good gut; I have a huge gut.
  10. Can't hit breaking balls and off speed pitches. We feast on mid week pitchers who have to throw fastballs. When we face quality pitchers on the weekend who can throw off speed pitches for strikes in any count, we have no chance. We look like Khiry Cooper up there trying to hit a curve ball. We really miss Pritchard and Kelly.
  11. This team struggles as much as any I've seen with getting key 2 out hits. We had so many chances today but couldn't get that hit. And today was the rule rather than the exception in that regard. Hopefully we're saving clutch hitting and some luck for the home stretch of the season.
  12. Normally this is the death-knell to recruiting. Although I think Wiscy recently got a commitment from one of our targets.
  13. Plus a Husker angle to this game. Dan Jennings faced Alex Gordon in the top of the 10th; 2 on, 2 out. After going 3-0, Jennings won the battle of former Huskers. I believe Jennings is married to current Husker catcher Tanner Lubach's sister. So lots of Husker stuff going on in that matchup.
  14. Problem is that nobody wants adidas shoes when they can have Nike shoes. Wrong
  15. My shame continues. My Columbus Discoverers hire a Creighton grad (Jimmy Motz), and lets Kearney get the guy who played for Nebraska.
  16. OK, Dimes. Now you've gone and done it. I was demoralized, and now I'm suicidal. I can get over Harriman and the players leaving, but to lose Kim?? That one's going to hurt.
  17. Cool uniform though. Except the shoes.....
  18. Quick release. Has some range.
  19. Must have been who Shimmy was recruiting on her recent trip. Would rather she was a post, but hopefully she can play. Hopefully she works out better than our last Aussie recruit--who never got here.
  20. Good game tonight. Beating purple decisively is always good. Now, winning against Iowa would be back to back prevailing over evil.
  21. Good thing we have Row 6!
  22. First male coach at KU ever? Marion Washington had the job for years, and then Bonnie.
  23. I bet he had to put his phone on silent to eat dinner. Hard to spin? We hire ambitious guys who other people want and are willing to outpay us for. There are a lot worse problems to have with your coaching staff. We've got our stability/head coach type hire in Molinari (who also happens to be a pretty good Illinois recruiter) No doubt we're on the look out for a guy (assuming we don't already have him) that can recruit in a section of the country/world we hope to tap into. You sound like you need to talk this over with me over a beer before a baseball game Sounds like a plan. I am a little despondent over the last 90 days or so....beer and baseball can cure about anything, however!
  24. Will be interesting to see how we respond against K-State and at Iowa. Ersty was as pissed and blunt in the post-game as I have heard him since he's been here. We really struggle when Boldt is off his game. Came up in a huge spot in the bottom of the 9th, guy on first, no outs. Normally we would bunt there, but with a lefty-righty advantage, they didn't take the bat out of Boldt's hands. He had a dismal strike out which Ersty said "wasn't a competitive at bat".
