  1. The last thing we need is another assistant moving on next year. A little stability might be important at some point. The program is in disarray already. Another departure wouldn't help much with that. Plus, most think Molinari provides "a solid mind" on the bench, and that bench coaching would be his strength. Who out there is going to take this job who has more experience in that regard? And what possible evidence do you have the Harriman (or Molinari, for that matter) is responsible for the offensive deficiencies? McVeigh isn't going anywhere. I hope Miles can hire someone with as much or more game than Harriman, but it won't be easy.
  2. Hard to put a good spin on having a 100% turnover in our assistant coaching staff since Miles arrived here. Assistants going the way of our big man recruiting. Things look quite bleak again. Maybe Miles will pull a rabbit out of his hat with Harriman's replacement, but what proven coach or rising star would take the job at this point in the program?
  3. Pure fantasy saves a Husker fan.
  4. At least Mathews and Benford left for major programs (UCLA and Marquette). Losing Harriman to a mid-major school, after all the support his family has received here, is a bit troubling. You have to wonder if he and Miles had some differences. Or if he just thinks winning here is going to be next to impossible.....
  5. Johnson, Smith and Harriman all gone. Very bleak scenario.
  6. Yeah, but I liked his tie. Respect for the situation.
  7. Any win against the evil Jays is a good one!
  8. Norm, you know I would never make a guy drink alone. Just loaded up my second one. Not the week to consider going on the wagon.
  9. Hmmm. So, you're thinking if he's taking off with Kenya, that leaves only Molinari and Miles to man the fort. And, with two recruits in town, does that give them enough hands on deck (mixing military metaphors) to cover all their bases (and now a sports metaphor) with the recruits that are here? Good question. Maybe Chris and Kenya were flying out early on the dedicated recruiting jet with plans on flying back by early this evening in time for dinner with the recruits. I have to imagine this trip was planned and not just spur of the moment -- hey, things aren't going well with the recruits in town so let's head off to Virginia and see if we can scare up any talent back there -- kind of thing. Norm, get your butt down the Hendricks and help them out....your boy Edwards is down there...
  10. Oh, they like their sheep in Manhattan....
  11. That wasn't my point, that was just an aside. My point was directed to hiring an inexperienced third assistant from a mid-level school. Is there something here I'm missing that cries out "big time hire?" Have either of them ever closed on a high level player? Have any connections or ins with someplace or someone that will produce Big 10 level players? Other than attending Nebraska, I don't see what the attraction would be right now. Losing Sunny and Shimmy back to back is troubling.
  12. Wow, those would be huge downgrades from Shimmy, in terms of experience and recruiting cred and contacts. Other than the sentimentality involved, it would be hard to justify either choice. If we aren't in a position to get a proven, bonafide, high profile assistant with our resources and recent success, something is wrong. Also, I love those media guide write ups. Ashley was a great member of our team, but to say she was a "standout player" at Nebraska is one of the biggest stretches ever. But i suppose "overachieving role player" doesn't sound as impressive.
  13. I'm not sure the 18-35 male demographic will attend in droves even if the dunk shows up in the woman's game. My belief is they won't. Then we just degrade the game for the demographics that are inclined to attend. I agree on the alley-oop; it is a beautiful play and requires considerable skill. But it works as well with a lay-in finish then as a dunk. Anyway, as stated earlier, I am a fossil, and generally operate under the motto of "change is bad", so my views are tainted by that reality.
  14. I'm with you. I'm a dinosaur, but I think the athleticism/strength components have overshadowed the skill side as well, particularly in the men's game.
  15. If we can close on this guy, it will be a sign that the staff has its mojo back.
  16. Figured this was coming but hoped it wasn't. Thanks, Shimmy, for your time as a Husker coach. Need a home-run hire now; with an emphasis on a big-time recruiter.
  17. Man, I love our guys--"despite going 28 and 27 last night, she's overrated and doesn't bring much to the table". A better post player than anything we've put on the floor in years. A special talent; I'd take her in a minute. Great improvement between freshman and sophomore years. Inconsistency is what those years are about. She would have been a dominant player her last 2 years in this league. A nightmare for defensive coaches.
  18. Apples to oranges. Pike was a true freshman, unlike Shavon, who is battle tested through 3 seasons of Big 10 play. You are also confusing Reid and Chubick. Reid redshirted his first year here, which was way before the 10-18 season to which you are referring. And Chubick was also a true freshman.
  19. 24 second shot clock = worst idea ever
  20. Blew another lead last night but at least we hung in there and prevailed. I hate to lose to Kansas State in anything, so avoiding that was personally quite fulfilling. Can't believe Tanner went 5-5. The last huge hit was against a righty.
  21. Wear those colors proudly, Terran. You honored your mom through your efforts on and off the court, and I know you will honor her memory going forward. You no doubt enriched her life through your accomplishments. There is no better accomplishment than simply being a devoted son. Husker fans everywhere are with you and yours during this time.
  22. Just a thought....would you hold a press conference to announce you're staying? I suppose that could be possible... Possible, but extremely unlikely.
  23. That's what she said
  24. Definitely a fat finger situation; Red Don is Good People.
