UConn is a different level right now. Having a lottery pick as the 4th or 5th best player in your starting lineup is definitely something.
-
And when it's been in Lincoln it's also usually the first weekend of December and the same weekend as the B1G championship. Can't have it Saturday night of that weekend in case we're playing in it.

Preach.

KU has a reported NIL roster budget of around $7 million for basketball. It's stupidly massive. I think Dickinson got like $3-$4 million. Unreal.
-
I'm leery of anyone that transfers more than once. Especially twice in two years. Think only exception would be someone like CJ who transferred then spent a considerable time at that destination before transferring again.

Frankie Fidler - Transfer -> Mich State

Just saw the same on another board. Heavy Wisconsin lean. Wonder if Kyle follows him too. -
Frager is a flyer. Low risk, high reward. If it doesn't work out, won't be surprised if he transfers after next season.
-
Especially when your bread winner program is trying to get back to championship-caliber. DR's NIL deal alone could pay for a solid basketball team.

Sounds like Moser wanted more money and the promise of a new facility and is going to get it from OU after playing hardball. OU letting a coach walk for Depaul is pretty bad optically. Can't let that happen. Even tho it sounds like Depaul was ready to pay the $6.5 million for his buyout.

What should Nebraska's real seed be?
OmahaHusker replied to big red22's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Based on our non-con sos is what is holding us back. I've been following Graham Doeren he kinda broke that down yesterday. https://x.com/GrahamDoeren/status/1766977184474804228?s=20 -
What should Nebraska's real seed be?

They have most the seeds decided on and bracket set by the end of Friday. Most weight is put on what you did in the regular season. Only last minute changes they make are for bid stealers that were never projected in the field. -
What should Nebraska's real seed be?

8-9 seed. 7 is ceiling, but only think a 7 is attainable if they won the B1G tourney. Just too many teams to leapfrog this late in the game. -
Yep agreed. Everyone on the 3 line in that graphic could make an argument for a 2 after todays results. And if Kentucky makes a run they could surpass everyone for it.
-
I think they’ll be high enough to both play in Omaha I just don’t think our potential seed lines up with them anymore. Win tomorrow I think we’re locked in at a 10 and maybe a 9 and don’t really think what we do in the B1G tourney would change that unless winning the whole thing. Don’t see either of KU/ISU being 2 tho. KU especially they’re just not very good.

2025 F A’mare Bynum -> Ohio St
OmahaHusker replied to Cowboy Kermit's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
His goal is Duke. Don't know if he'll get that, but going to Link will definitely get him some more national recognition. That academy has a good amount of studs come out of that program as of late. Especially to play for schools in the south. -

Heard rumblings of him doing this earlier this week. Family looking to raise his stock/get better offers. -
The B1G needs some terrible teams!
OmahaHusker replied to HuscurAdam's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Whoever that was on the radio I think is mistaken. I don't think the committee is really counting road games against Depaul and Georgetown at this point. The top 9 teams in the Big East just create more opportunities for high quality wins this year, which is keeping all their bubble teams alive. They actually did have games that went down to the wire or were somewhat in question against South Carolina and Northwestern early in the year. I have no idea how. -
I think it’s a combination of this as well as the pace of play and way games are called in the B1G. I feel like the B1G calls fouls for too many things and it drags games out, and a lot of times calling stuff that’s just flat out not a foul (Purdue especially). Just a lot of anticipated foul whistle blowing rather than an actual foul. They all get used to playing that way for 3 months then get to the tourney and get some refs where nothings being called and it’s tough to adjust to. It’s the reason I think all Purdue needs to do is run into the ref crew that isn’t calling fouls on Edey and is letting guards get into their guards and it could be trouble. Being the darling of the conference they’ve been getting every call in league since December.

This kind of mentality is just natural with fans in a football-first school I think. Making fun of basketball is acceptable because it's not football. When basketball is good, they'll jump aboard. When they're bad, they'll joke about it and brush it off, because there's no real investment like there is with football. All of my friends out in Holdrege are kinda wired like this. It just comes with the territory when football pays the bills and you're not a basketball blue blood. And it's not specific to just us. Georgia basketball is mediocre to bad. When they're good fans jump aboard. When they're bad fans joke and brush it off.

2023 PG Simeon Wilcher -> UNC->St John
OmahaHusker replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
This is exactly it. In Pitino's eyes, these freshman are tough to play for long stretches defensively when they don't know how to comprehend the scouting report as quickly like these older guys. -
All I know is those tickets would be extremely expensive lol.

Could definitely see them beating Clemson and Duke at home. Didn’t look outmatched at all.

OmahaHusker replied to 49r's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Not to mention every team has story lines. Cant think just because we have Tominaga and haven’t won a game they’ll let us in. They don’t care about any of that when they’re setting the seed list. Northwestern was a media darling when they made it because literally every sports journalist went to Northwestern. -

If Gonzaga wins at San Fran and/or at St. Mary's to end their regular season, the committee will put them in over basically every bubble team without even thinking twice about it. Which is crazy, but it'll happen. That's also the kind of stuff we'd be up against.
