I’m sure the basketball NIL pool is fine as is. It doesn’t really matter if the recruit/transfer doesn’t want to play for a losing coach. If we were winning we would be competitive in NIL I have no doubt. -
Say we'd landed Keontae Johnson. What's our ceiling?
OmahaHusker replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I said in the other thread that he would've seemed to forget how to play the sport in general. So not far off -
You and I might not see how, but I think Trev does. I get the vibe that Trev isn't even throwing feelers out for a new coach at this point, and will just push everything till next year for a decision to be made. If he let Scott come back, he'll most definitely let Fred.

unelinstu's postgame chatter: vol 15, ed 19: Ohio State

Our ratings won't be good enough to get in with 17 wins, but you're right we'd be at least in consideration on the bubble. We'd pry have to get to 20 to be in. -

I think we can make the NIT if we hold serve at home and steal one on the road. But I think that's asking a lot with Gary out. And the B1G did itself no favors this year with Quad 1 opportunities at home. Ohio State was our last home game Quad 1 opportunity as of today, and if we're being honest they'll probably drop out of the top 30 the way they're trending. The thing going against us most this year though is metrics. Our offensive woes are killing us on kenpom. -

I think those metrics are going to start reverting back to the mean for them as B1G play progresses. If they play like they did tonight they’re not going to win many more games. In comparison to them, I thought our offense looked like it had more of a plan at the very least despite our shots not falling. Idk what they were doing half the time and idk how Holtmann can watch that and think that’s what it’s supposed to look like. When your 2 best players are freshmen, might just be adversity finally hit, and when you don’t have a strong upperclassmen leader it can cause a spiral downward pretty quickly. On top of OSU fans not being big proponents of Holtmann even before the season. They’re all feeling it -
Ohio State (10-7) vs. Nebraska (9-9) Game Thread
OmahaHusker replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Unless it’s egregious I doubt we ever really see it again. It’s too subjective. Especially when we’ve been accustomed to seeing them all called a charge and the refs calling it as so their entire lives. I’ve noticed it too with guards flailing their heads back when they’re trying to penetrate and look like they’re being fouled. Theyre supposed to call that a foul but rarely call that one anymore either it seems. -

Great win. Love it. But I will say in regards to this line of thinking that Ohio State is the first team to figure out that all you have to do is fall over when Derrick puts his shoulder down. Don't know why other teams haven't been doing that, but that's a charge every time and he's been going downhill like that all year. -
I don't doubt he was coming here at all. I've also heard the same. Imagine him and Reeves (Kentucky) on this team. We lost both at the last second. We'd at the least be a bubble team with that additional athleticism and shooting we desperately need. But on the other hand, I guess a lot of teams can say the same about woulda/coulda/shoulda players.

You're kidding yourself if you think Keyontae would've come here and done the same as he has at KState. He would've come here and would've looked like he essentially forgot how to play the sport or something along those lines. Par for the course for this program.
-
He may be cleared, but no Power 6 program is going to touch him with a 10’ pole anyway. The point is moot. The issue is you put yourself in a bad enough situation that can tarnish your reputation when you shouldn’t have. And that’s reason enough for many universities when they’re offering to pay you millions.

KenPom 2022-2023 KenPom Rankings Thread

The point seems kind of moot right now, but DeCourcy explained why we weren't in any bracket consideration before the game yesterday. https://twitter.com/tsnmike/status/1612903493005615104?s=20&t=Ra9S53M1vRLniGu0lqANMA -

I think on the postgame show someone said that the announced attendance was still 15,000 something. So I don't think the high attendance rank will really change. You could tell the crowd wasn't great on tv, but with no students, the refs calling a foul every two seconds, and just sloppy play on our end, there was a whole lot of nothing to build some juice from the crowd. -
KenPom 2022-2023 KenPom Rankings Thread
OmahaHusker replied to 49r's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Thanks for doing this. Actually pretty interesting. Always just figured it was because of the weaker non con. It’s gotta be some other reason cuz the computers hate this team. It’d take quite a bit to even get to “bubble” territory right now in terms of NET/Kenpom ranks. -

It's "Team B's" non-con SOS. Ours was really bad and there's was really good. I think we should be higher in kenpom ranking too, but that's the reason why. -

I think this pretty much sums up every game for us, which will continue to be the case all year. We are what we are offensively. Our defensive philosophy is to not let anything inside and crash the defensive boards hard at the expense of leaving wide open looks from deep. If the opposing team hits those open looks, the game can get outa hand quick.
