  1. My brother just emailed me Creighton's non-conference schedule. Not to impressive if you ask me but of course, NU's non-conference schedules have been extremely weak that past several years as well. Can't wait until ours is released to see how it shapes up this year. Day Date Opponent Opponent's 2012-13 W-L Opponent's 2012-13 Postseason Series History Sun. Nov. 3 Northern State (Ex.) 20-11 (Div. 2. They might be a top 20 team this year but will take a HUGE stepback next year and not sure they will have a team anytime in the near future as good as they will have this year. I venture to say that NU will have a better team than Creighton within 2 years.
  3. Here is article that was in Journal Star today that talks about Miles upcoming recruiting schedule and current targets. Interesting read as he will be racking up his frequent flyer miles this month. Gotta love this coaching staff's efforts on the recruiting trail. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/nu-coaches-zoned-in-on-targets-for-hoops-class/article_c4cb9e87-1605-5f73-bb77-9eaac6f87af4.html
  4. Here is a summer time look at all the teams around the Big 10 http://m.journalstar.com/sports/huskers/big-ten/a-summertime-look-around-the-big-ten-hoops-style/article_5d6334a3-73a1-559a-b78d-e7504bacd209.html?mobile_touch=true
  5. It might have been a good year for McDermott to come out but sounds like he was projected as late 1st round or 2nd round pick. That is surprising considering the group this year.
  6. Chances are probably good that Ray does start but I certainly wouldn't put money on it. He was one of our only scoring options last year but there are alot more talented players available this year that could beat him out for a starting spot.
  7. My guess is if Miles wanted Strickland, he would have hired him the first time around. There is no question that Erick has a passion for NU hoops and wants the program to succeed but he is potentially lacking the experience that Miles is wanting. Strickland has made it public that he wants a coaching job at NU but just not sure it will happen. I'm not opposed to it but will be surprised if it does.
  8. I was pretty concerned about the Webster comment as well. Hopefully is will all ends well. One comment Miles made though, cracked me up. He was asked if he will have Coach Hunter game plan for Florida Gulf Coast. Miles replies without hesitation and says "why would I, they lost".
  9. Another "home run" move for Miles. He continues to impress the hell out of me......
  10. You are wrong about one thing Norm is that I did like Doc and wanted very badly for him to succeed here but it after a few seasons, it didn't appear he was the guy that was going to take us where we wanted to be. I can still like Doc but be critical of the job he did here at NU. My assumption is the T.O. also realized that fan interest was dropping during Doc's last season as well and that was one of the factors that lead to his dismissal. How is it that my comments somehow "speak for everyone" and comments you or others don't have the same effect. Everyone posts comments based on their own personal reaction or feelings about the situation. I still believe fan interest was dropping off during Doc's last season as people were tired of the boring style of play and losing. One question I would have about your attendance numbers are if those are based on number of people who actually attended the games vs. number of tickets sold? Just curious
  11. You don't think Miranda Lambert is a big name??? You misread. He's not interested in seeing any of the big names. That is why my eye doctor keeps telling me I need reading glasses...
  12. You don't think Miranda Lambert is a big name???
  13. +1,000,000,000 That is why attendance and interest in NU hoops dropped off dramatically under Sadler. He never wanted to play any decent opponents unless he thinks Maryland Eastern Shore is a quality team.
  14. They have gotten some good acts so far and a nice array of shows.
  15. That is an understatement as Miles is putting together a very nice non-conference schedule. That was the problem with Sadler is he never wanted to schedule tough teams and put another loss on the record. He wanted to play as easy of schedule as he could and try to get enough wins to get in tournament. Miles understands you need wins as well but strengh of schedule is alot a huge factor to get in tournament also. It's very cool to start seeing a more challenging non-conference schedule being put together.
  16. I doubt he will get another head coaching job and any major D1 schools but he might be a very good assistant coach at ISU or another school. It's got to be difficult to go from being a head coach to assistant coach.
  17. Sounds like NU is very interested in this kid and he is interested in NU. Alot can happen between now and 2015 but gotta love Miles and staff for their efforts in getting in on kids early and battling other big name schools to land one of these players. I think it's just a matter of time. http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1508366
  18. It will happen. It's just a matter of time!!!
  19. In 20 years from now, nobody will care who we opened up the PBA with. Just like the vast majority of people can't tell you who we opened up Devaney with. I think this is a great opening game as they were the hottest team in the country last year and media darlings.
  20. Is this class really Nebraska's best recruiting class in over a decade? Yes Fuller and Webster could be really good, but the lack of a true big man might be what keeps this class from being one of the best. Smith will be a big that fills a need, but I don't expect him to put up big numbers at all. Hawkins is a mystery right now as well. Hawkins played power forward on his high school team last year, so it is hard to tell how good of a guard he is going to be. Seriously??? This isn't old school basketball anymore where you have to have a true center or big man. Lots of great teams play with just 6' 7" to 6' 9" players due to their skill level. Not saying it's not nice to have a 6' 10" or taller post player but it's not necessary with style of play lots of teams choose to run. I'd rather have very athletic wing players as opposed to a big man. Athletic talent can make up for the lack of a couple of inches in height. I think this was a very solid effort from Miles and Company for their first recruiting class in the short time frame they have been here. He is now building relationship for the next couple of classes and he going after players our previous two coaches wouldn't even consider trying to get. The lack of a big man doesn't diminish the quality kids he was able to sign.
  21. OK, bringing up Standhardinger brings up another topic. I want people to commit right now: Should Tim Miles NOT recruit this kid because he should know that he's not a fit? Just like all the people who said Doc shouldn't have recruited a talented Euro 4 because Doc should have known Dinger wouldn't be a fit? I don't want people bitching 2-3 years from now and saying we should have known not to recruit him. Say it now. Should we be recruiting this kid or not? I say yes. That's not really a fair question Norm. Doc seemed to just recruit kids and hope they all fit together in a system whereas Miles seems to be looking for kids that fits for the system he wants to run. Dinger had the talent but Doc didn't let him utilize it the way he wanted to. You could tell Dinger would get frustrated when Doc would pull him for taking 1 bad shot. Dinger might have been an all conference type player under Miles (not saying he would have been as it's just an example). I have no idea if this kid will fit into Miles system. I will let Miles be the judge of that. I do know that Miles will not just waste a scholarship on a kid he doesn't think will help elevate the program and compete for minutes. This kid doesn't seem to have a "wow" factor to him which is why people are scheptical. Of course, most of us didn't think Miles was as "wow" hire either and most of us changed our minds pretty quickly. So to answer your question, yes, I think we should take a shot at signing this kid based on the coaches evaluation of him.
  22. Who has all offer him so far?
  23. Didn't we try this international route already with Doc and it failed miserable!!! This kid only averaged like 7 points a game. I'd rather pass and look for better players in 2014 & 2015 classes.
  24. I really hope we get this kid but realisticly, our chances drop the longer it takes. I was hoping he would be blown away after his visit to NU and commit shortly afterwards but didn't happen. I hate to lose this kid but that is what I'm expecting. I sure hope I'm wrong.
  25. I don't think he has officially announced yet.
