I agree with him for Football but overall in all sports, I would disagree.
-
I'd say "yes"

The strength of schedule is getting more difficult by the day. Auburn could be a Top 10 team by the time we play them. Fred is putting together a pretty difficult schedule this year.
-
No reason we couldn't or shouldn't be a tournament team this year.

What are you talking about? Just cause he was listed on some "watch" list doesn't mean anything. Lots of people were on that list and probably didn't even know they were listed. So where has he been shopping around at?

Yes and offered his dad a job. Can't believe they didn't get a post season ban. -
Creighton Basketball - what a bunch of cheaters

So they go from McDermott's comments and lose their top rated recruit from it to magically pulling in a Top 5 recruiting class? Clearly that was all above board. Move along people, there's nothing to see here... -
CU got handed penalty for recruiting violations. Not the squeaky clean program they like everyone to believe. Two years of probation. A $5,000 fine plus 1% of the men’s basketball program budget. A reduction of men’s basketball scholarships by one per year for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years (self-imposed by the university). A reduction of men’s basketball official visits by six during the 2021-22/2022-23 rolling two-year period (self-imposed by the university). A reduction in the number of men’s basketball recruiting person days by 10% from the previous four-year average for the two-year probationary period (self-imposed by the university). The university will prohibit complimentary admission to home games for all prospects and coaches in November 2021 (self-imposed by the university). A two-year show-cause order for the former assistant coach. During that period, any NCAA member school employing him must restrict him from any athletically related duties unless it shows cause why the restrictions should not apply.

Keeping up with the offers/visits

Hell, landing just one of them could still put us in that category. Amazing how we have top 10 kids in the country considering us. Hard not to be overly excited for the future of NU hoops. -
That's an Apples vs. Oranges comparison. I get your point but also keep in mind the reason the architecture student is "allowed" to make money on the side is they aren't compensated like the student athletes are. They don't get free meals and clothes provided to them and a living stipend. If they got all the same perks a student athlete gets, then I'd 100% agree with you but they don't. It's not the same thing. It's going to happen whether I agree with it or not but just think it might cause more harm to the college game than good.
-
Do you not think these athletes are currently not getting paid and compensated? Free food, clothes, money stipend, shoes, education, etc. Trust me, they are well taken care of and way better than an average student who has to pay to get their degree.
-
Just because NIL has been created won't change illegal recruiting that goes on in college sports. They are 2 totally separate things.
-
Think of it this way. It we think the transfer portal is busy now, you really think the back-up QB or RB at any school is going to stay if he thinks he can go to another school and make more money. Kids will start blaming coaches if they don't play enough or start cause now it's costing them money. And the team chemistry will be really interesting as there can be hard feelings if teammate are making lots of money and they aren't. People make is seem like they kids aren't getting anything now and that is so far from the truth. They get a free education, meals, clothes, etc. And if you go to a bowl game, you get things like a free PS5 (or whatever the latest version is now). Basically this will be the end of "amateur athletics" and now college kids will be promoting themselves just like pro athletes to get endorsements.
-
Just not a huge fan of this whole NIL thing. It will change college sports and not for the better.
-
Don't believe everything you read as kids make it sound like that is their top school after every visit. I think we do have a shot at Wilcher which would be an amazing get and if we can get him to commit early enough, it might attract some of the other top talent to join him.

2022 F Isaac Traudt - Virginia->Creighton

He would be a perfect fit for alot of systems -
Does anyone know if NU is planning to play in any tournament this year? Haven't heard that we are in any so far and hoping we get one.
-
His paycheck must have bounced
-
Their system is to pay kids to come play there
-
CU is certainly doing some illegal recruiting to land a top 5 class in the nation.
-
Do we have a complete list anywhere of the kids we are hosting this month and what their national rank is?

I agree with everything you outlined Norm and would add that our team depth has to be solid. Last year, we had a drop-off in some positions when the starters weren't on the floor. Great teams have back-ups almost as good as the 5 starters so you don't lose much when you sub in. I really think this year, our team depth will be the key. We ran out of gas in several games we lost last year due to this issue and if we can develop better depth this year, those can easily be turned into wins this year.

2021 PG TyTy Washington -> Kentucky

I agree but this one is on their coach. They had him committed before Coach Mac opened up his mouth and inserted foot. I'd be upset if another school came in at the last minutes and magically he committed to them in the 11th hour but no one to blame on this one except the Head Coach.
