We are officially down two 6'7 players. Maybe we give him a look now?
-
I remember thinking Glynn was tiny when arriving at 6'0 160#, this kid weighs the same but is 4 inches taller!!! Definitely gonna need a RS if he is to play in the Big Ten for Rutgers
-
Read in the OWH today that Junub Char (ex-player at Burke) has scholarship offers from Rutgers and a couple mid majors. I believe he just finished up the year at a NJ prep school. Could be playing against us next year if he signs with Rutgers.
-
Agree. Arop didn't really turn into the type of player we were expecting. I believe we recruited him as a SG but at 6'6 w/ not a great shot he's more of an undersized PF imo. Then we got Nana who is the type of player we were hoping Arop was. Then to add on to that we have Copeland now who will play the 3-4 positions like Arop but is a lot more talented and 3 inches taller. So at the time cutting ties with Arop for the '17 class seemed appropriate as he did not really fulfill the needs of the team and we had limited scholarships to give. Now with only one glaring hole I see (back up PG) and two open scholarships, this would be the perfect time to take a chance on an in state development prospect.

Not even close to the AW3 situation, he straight played us and left us with no real opportunity to replace him. Jeriah also didn't hold the amount of significance to the team as White did. Can't blame Jeriah really. He's stuck in a loaded position with Jack, Isaiah, Nana, Palmer, Ed, MJ, and Isaac Copeland who will all be competing for time at the 3 and/or 4. And unfortunately, most kids nowadays aren't like Tai and won't just work their tails off and get so much better where the coach has no choice to play them. Never really saw him being slotted higher than 9th in our rotation next year. Best of luck to him where ever he goes.
-
Well he did take South back to state and win a game with a team that returned virtually no one else from last year's team. Idk his stats but that's pretty impressive. Not saying he does or doesn't deserve to win it again. Just saying him and Coach did a solid job. And maybe I just have a soft spot for Arop.
-
Bummer we burned bridges with Arop. I know he was more of a long term project but now with two open scholarships we could've afforded to RS him (assuming we are able to land a PG or combo guard). I know hind sight is 20/20 but would like to nab an in state guy. Also, bummer to see Horne go. Kind of interesting, I believe only a week ago Miles said everyone was on board with coming back next year except one player who was on the fence. But now we already have to players who announce they're leaving.
-
Reading the article about him leaving and I had totally forgot he had a few solid games towards the end of his RFr. year and even started.
-
I think the Summit League would be a good fit for him competition wise
-
I'm sad to see him go. Love hard working kids like that. Hopefully he finds the perfect fit and balls out his senior year. Now let's keep the rest of the gang together and get us that much needed PG / combo gaurd!
-
I'd say in a five year span: -1-2 NCAA tourneys -1-2 NITs -1-2 subpar /// rebuilding seasons some combination of those 3 would be acceptable to me... for a while. After a few cycles of making somewhat regular tourney bids and hopefully wins and I'd like to see more consistency.

It's almost mind boggling how many ups and downs we had this season. Good start with wins over LA Tech and Dayton. Played elite teams like Kansas, UCLA, and Creighton for over a half. Then we lose to Gardner-Webb. Then Gill goes down. Then out of nowhere we start off 3-0 and all of sudden everything is okay. Then Morrow gets hurt. After that we lose a bunch of games a lot of them close. Somehow we upset Purdue in the middle of all those losses and for a short period of time everything is okay. Morrow finally comes back and we win a couple games and have a lot to play for. But finish the season with 5 straight losses, 4 of them blowouts, 1 the biggest home loss ever. I wonder which one of those teams we are closer to.
-
Glynn Watson James Palmer Isaiah Roby Isaac Copeland Ed Morrow BENCH Michael Jacobson Evan Taylor Jordy Tshimanga Jack McVeigh Nana Akenten Jeriah Horne Anton Gill Nick Fuller It's weird having a full 13 eligible guys to play. I'm really hoping the roster stays the way it is for the most part. We could obviously use another guard but aside from Glynn everybody is gonna have to earn their PT.

Okay I'll start it Who is coming back?

-Fuller possibly grad transfers for a bigger role. I could see him being a good player on low lvl D1 school. -Horne might want to go somewhere with a better/easier shot at playing time. He's log jammed with Ed, MJ, Copeland, McVeigh, Roby and Fuller. And as it stands right now he's only ahead of Fuller and all the guys ahead of him have 2-3 years left. -Palmer might be forced to go JUCO as it sounds like he might not qualify academically. That's my top 3. I won't say I want any of them to transfer or leave but it would be beneficial to exchange a forward for a gaurd who can shoot or play point or both. -
I'm honestly surprised about this. So my guess is SE doesn't want to get rid of Tim bc this was the perfect opportunity. 5 straight losses, 4 blowout losses including the largest home defeat ever, and a team that just looks defeated. Glad he's back, but can't say I'm as excited about next season as I was two weeks ago.

Watching a game with something on the line is stressful

How closely do you follow Nebraska basketball Sam? Who is he playing over? Offensively Tre'Shawn could probably put up MJ type numbers but he would get eaten alive defensively by Big Ten front courts. Thurm had 3+ fouls in 14 out of 19 games against Summit League competition. And what's one thing we know Tim Miles doesn't put up with? Poor defense. So please tell me again how he would play everyday of the week for Nebraska. -

No, out of high school he was not academically eligible (4 out of 6 of Centrals all star team weren't eligible and as a future educator I find that to be a travesty but that'd a story for a different day). So he went JUCO and got kicked off the team for an incident he may or may not have been apart of, transferred back to a local JUCO and got picked up by UNO. I love to see that he got it all turned around and is set to graduate but I don't blame NU for not looking his way at all. He definitely could've helped with guard depth this year tho. -

As somehow who follows UNO bball closely, Tra-Deon Hollins is the only player on their team that would be good enough to play at Nebraska and in the Big Ten. -
Can't speak much on the women's bball situation as I don't really follow it, but I wouldn't say SE messed up with football. Bo had to go and Riley seems to have been a solid hire (not a grand slam by any means but at least an upgrade). He's recruiting better and surrounding himself with respected and sought after assistants. Kinda sounds familiar right lol. I want to see what Tim can do next year but I think he's sealed his fate with four straight blowouts and the largest home defeat in school history. We'll probably know by the end of the week.
-
I can just see the huge smile SE has on his face right now. He will have his own guy soon enough. I'm gonna hate to see Tim go but I can't really blame SE if/when he makes that decision.

We are no longer good at Pinnacle Bank Arena
khoock replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
To be fair have we ever really been good at PBA aside from the first year? Idk the records but seems like we have always been .500 give or take a couple games -
Definitely don't want it to happen but I think Miles is as good as gone after these past 3 blowout losses. Unless something spectacular happens these next games... (fingers crossed)
-
I think Miles is gone after this season. I don't want it to happen but I don't trust SE and think he makes the move to get his own guy. SE has to know this is the perfect time to get his own guy in here. With the core of our roster being FR. and SO. the next two seasons, hypothetically, are gonna be better. And you can't fire a coach when he's showing improvement (you can, but you guys know what I mean). But you can fire a coach who is on his third straight losing season, all three of which have ended with long losing streaks. Don't want it to happen at all but my guess is SE pulls the trigger.
