I gotta say hes a better option than Tanner or Brady rn. We are to thin at the position for him not to play. Seems to be a decent scorer and good rebounder.
-
Not ready to buy into the hype yet. Miles typically runs an 8 man rotation. My take is that 6 of the spots pretty much filled. That leaves two spots for four players. I went with Amir and Nana. I will admit that KD is the player i know the least about so i could be way off. As for redshirting, unfortunately kids dont wanna do that nowadays (but have no problem sitting out as a transfer which makes no sense to me). No way both Nana and Thor should have wasted a whole year of eligibility for the 20 min of playing time they each received. Cant wait for the season to start. Or atleast for some more news or inside info on the team to come out.

Tre Bryant is retiring from the game. Thats three players in a span of months (Decker, Barnett, Bryant). Big opportunity for in state kids Jaylin Bradley and Wyatt Mazour (who just got put on scholarship) to get in that main RB rotation.
-
I dont think Brady plays this year, if were healthy. I dont think hes strong enough to play the 4 or 5 rn. Nana will play the 4 this year before Brady does.
-
As for the RB decommit, anyone think it was maybe a mutual split? We already had two other RB commits plus we are still actively recruiting the position.
-
Never a bad thing to shed dead weight. All three were 3rd or 4th string. Glad Barnett put his health first. Jackson has some stuff to figure out; if he finds a new school it will be his FIFTH one (Kentucky -> Iowa Western -> Mesa -> Nebraska). Roberts will probably find a team out on the east coast. I still think he will be a good player and hopefully this experience matures him and makes him realize the work he will need to put in at his new school. He is very talented.

Think Aguek Arop minus the nasty injury. Prob a better shooter but not as good of ball handler.
-
I see no reason to not try and get the best kid out of the state every year. There will be years where the talent just isnt there but most years the best kid is good enough to play here or at Creighton. And i would rather have em in red than blue.
-
Landed one of his three official visits. Gotta think were the favorite.
-
One of the bolder predictions I have seen. Just curious, what makes you think KD will get the most minutes off the bench?
-
Glad to see Nebraska's mishaps with older players not affecting our chances with their younger siblings. This is the younger brother of Bryson Williams who is a freshman DT at Wisconsin (Mike Riley and Co completely dropped the ball on his recruitment). We also have a good shot at Akol Arop. And we all know how it went with his older brother.

Thorir and Iceland at FIBA U-20 Tournament
khoock replied to WestOHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Was trying to decide who i see coming out of that quarter of Thor, Nana, Amir, and Karrington Davis. To put a cap on this thread i thought I would add his final averages. 7 games 25.1 min 9.4 pts 4.0 reb 3.7 asst 1.3 stl 3.4 TO FG: 34.9% 3pt: 33.3% FT: 52.2% *Subpar to poor performances in the first 4 games *Aside from TO's he came on much stronger over the last 3 games * Left a lot of points at the charity stripe 12/23 *Tournament highs were 19 pts, 6 reb, 7 asst, 4 stl, 9 TO *Shooting performance of 7/11 and 6/9 overall and 4/5, 3/4, and 3/6 from deep were the highlights *Not sure how how good opponents were from game to game. Feel free to look up their FIBA rankings and include it if you would like -
I think Thomas Allen will be the most noticeable from a statistical stand point just bc i think his minutes will double. Could easily see him jump to 8 or 9 points a game. From a talent stand point i want to say Roby. But with so many other weapons and that fact that Roby hasnt necessarily been the most assertive player on the court (even though he should be our second option and one could say first with no arguement from me) I am hesitant to make that claim. However, if we are fortunate enough to have Roby for his senior year i think he will be putting up monstrous numbers.
-
So right now my wish list is looking like this with our 4 schollies: - Akol Arop 6'5 F - Robbie Beran 6'9 F - Jervay Green 6'3 G (JUCO) - Some sort of big time grad transfer (either PG or C) to help alleviate the loss of Cope, Palmer, and Glynn. Also as of right now i believe Roby will be the only senior next year. Only issue with adding a JUCO is that it will put our Jr. Class at 6 players with the additions of Dachon Burke next year and Dedoch Chan this year.
-
Heres my take on it: - Starters will be Glynn Watson, Thomas Allen, James Palmer, Isaac Copeland, and Isaiah Roby. Aside from Thomas Allen, they will all average 30-32 min a game. - Dedoch Chan will play 12-15 min a game (essentially Jordys time) - Tanner Borchardt will take Dubys min (3-5 per game) - Two players out of Amir Harris, Thor Thorbjarnarson, Nana Akenten, and Karrington Davis will lock down a spot. Averaging about 15 min each - Brady Hieman redshirts
-
But also had 68 TOs to only 40 assists. Maybe wont be as big of a deal as he wont be the focal point of our offense and will often be the 4th or 5th option when he is on the floor.
-
Was looking over some of his JUCO stats and it looked like he finished the season with a shooting slump from 3 (0-12 last 5 games). Before that slump he was sitting at 38 percent. ~ Cant remember if this was shared already or not ~
-
I think Roby spends more time at the 5 this year than any other player. He will will cause the biggest match up problem for opposing teams while giving up the least defensively.
-
Or we're just so good that he gets tons of mop up time or he is just a high quality player and is capable of giving us a solid 15-20 min a game. Thats what im hoping for ?
-
Remember to be patient with him. Evan Taylor played sparingly the first part of the season until he acclimated to the team/competition and found a role.
-
Anybody know what level of competition he faced in JUCO and high school? His numbers are good.
-
Which would probably be a good time since we will be infusing so many new players
-
When are we due up for another summer trip? Should be this upcoming summer right?
-
Akol hasnt announced his top 5 yet but says Huskers are safely in it. Is planning on taking an unofficial next week as well as an official visit in September. He will utilize all 5 of his official visits and wants to decide before basketball season starts.
