  1. You can try. I tried letting everyone know about Bruno Fernando before his name was on anyone's radar. That went nowhere. Now he's a projected lottery pick for next year.
  2. One more thing about that "seasoned center": Did you know he was the Defensive Player of the Year in the Ohio Valley Conference this last season? And where, exactly, have we struggled on defense over the last several years? Three-point defense? Yep, there too. But where have we really made the opposing team's Average Joe look like an All-American? That's right. The post. Might be nice to have a Defensive POTY join our team. Especially a guy who plays center. Just sayin.
  3. Thor is better than a lot of people think.
  4. Don't bet on it.
  5. Yeah. He POSTS. That really stands out.
  6. I think I got sold on this idea when I saw him in the highlights posted above scoring over Isaac Haas.
  7. According to ESPN, he's 6'9", 245#. Not sure what his actual measurables are. Miles has said he's looking for either a big OR the otherwise best available player for that last spot. If you look at the video I posted, this guy plays center, not PF. I think Palmer could slide to the 2 and Roby or Copeland could play the 3. (Both Roby and Copeland should be spending copious amounts of time this summer working on their ball-handling and jump shooting, which would allow either to play either forward spot interchangeably.) That might just solve our "how do we replace Gill/Taylor" issue.
  8. Think I agree with @jayschool. Get the Mekowulu kid and hope one or more of our freshmen/sophomore guards winds up being a "real deal."
  9. Would we be better off getting a 6'9", 245# athletic center who can score a bit and rebound? Or a replacement for Taylor/Gill who can drop daggers from deep?
  10. He's one of the best shooters on the team. He's probably not athletic enough to score big minutes at this level, and he'll give something up on defense, but if there was 5 seconds left in regulation and you're down three with the ball out of bounds, I might draw up a play that involves him as one of the options. He has NBA range.
  11. It wasn’t the shoes.
  12. Jimmy generally hits the sack with Lindy. But that’s a normal summer. For him.
  13. We better be effing good. Need to find that Evan Taylor/Anton Gill 2-guard.
  14. I approve. His jumper reminds me of Copeland. Really good athleticism. Very quick first step and change of direction. Nice crossover. I like it. I'd put him toward the top of the list.
  15. This is really going to disappoint the people who were hoping for bad news.
  16. So, I've always wondered why off-topic posts about hockey don't draw the same disdainful reactions that off-topic posts about soccer draw.
  17. I always thought he looked like he was wearing eye-liner.
  18. We just need to go on ahead and get this thread over 20 pages so that we can get Ed firmly committed somewhere else and stop worrying about him. ?
  19. Sure, I can admit that Jacobson might be a better rebounder than Copeland. Slightly. Perhaps. I think part of that is Jacobson following up on his own misses. Copeland didn't have as many of those. Part of that is the position they're playing. Jacobson as a sophomore was 4 of 23 from 3 for 17.4%; Copeland last year was 41 of 111 for 37%. Jacobson is getting more offensive boards because he's spending more time closer to the basket. Bottom line, @Dean Smith is right. Our starting lineup last year wouldn't have been different if Jacobson had stayed. Roby eventually beats out Jacobson and so does Copeland. Jacobson comes off the bench for us, just as he will for ISU.
  20. Those girls tryna play defense against her be like "oh shit …"
  21. I'd make one slight change: 1. Illinois (0-0) 1. Indiana (0-0) 1. Iowa (0-0) 1. Maryland (0-0) 1. Michigan (0-0) 1. Michigan State (0-0) 1. Minnesota (0-0) 1. Nebraska (0-0) 1. Northwestern (0-0) 1. Ohio State (0-0) 1. Penn State (0-0) 1. Purdue (0-0) 1. Wisconsin (0-0) 14. Rutgers (0-0)
  22. He developed a guy who hadn't played for them until this year? How do they know?
  23. A lot less competition at ISU for playing time along the front line.
  24. He'd need a 2nd redshirt year.
