I have some form of amnesia but I can't remember what it's called. Thanks for the set-up, Auroran. ?

Remember her well. She was a year behind Maurtice Ivy and Jessica chose out-of-state rather than stay in-state. Was wondering if that wasn't who you were talking about. My memory was she went to Arizona. Maybe she transferred. Or maybe I was just mistaken.

Vedral's best chance of contributing would probably be this year as the #1 backup in case Martinez gets injured. Next year and years thereafter, I think Vedral is buried on the depth chart. For his sake, I hope he's cleared to play.

Why is this on the recruiting board?

Who is Hunter Sallis's mom?

Been thinking about this and I have decided I don't begrudge Gebbia's decision to leave. He was recruited here under a different coaching regime that ran a different offense for which he was more suited. He didn't ask for the coaching change. I think he could run Frost's offense competently, but he's not ideally suited for it. If he's able to nab the starting job as a redshirt freshman, Frost would still try to recruit a better fit. But if he doesn't win the starting job this season, he's likely never going to be the starting QB here just because, again, he could run it competently, but he'll never be an ideal fit for it. Therefore, it makes sense to transfer to a team whose offensive system fits your skillset. And he's better off transferring now, sitting this year, and having 3 to play than sitting this year as a backup in a dual-threat system and then sitting again next year as a transfer and only having 2 to play.

Y'know, maybe if I'm Frost, I pick Gebbia as a game 1 starter but tell the players I'm planning on playing both in the game before picking a starter for good. Then, once he's played, it counts as a season and he'd be less likely to transfer until the end of the semester. Andrew Bunch is now getting more practice reps and probably happy for it. He seemed a reasonable back up based on what I saw in the spring game, so it's not all bad.

Journal-Star insert on the football team this weekend had season predictions by their 4 sports guys. Two predicted we'd win 8 games; two predicted we'd win 7. The OWH writers also have us winning 8. Pretty consistent with my expectations. I'd put the over/under on wins at 7.5. And I think by the time Michigan State comes to town, we'll have a reasonably seasoned QB and it's not a foregone conclusion we lose that game. I think we'll win the other 6 home games, and I suspect we'll pick up 1-2 wins against Iowa, Northwestern, and Michigan State. I feel so much more confident in our coaching than I have in years. I think we have the talent to compete with the better teams in the conference and we now have the coaching to go along with it. The weapons we have on offense are downright nasty. We just happened to have some wideouts on the roster who fit Frost's system perfectly: shifty little guys who are excellent in space. I fully expect our offense to be as good as it's been in years. And our defense will be significantly improved as well, if only because they had nowhere to go but up. As transitions go, this is going to be the easiest one we've had since Solich took over for Osborne because we have the personnel needed to run the systems on both sides of the ball. It's not like we'll have to go a couple of recruiting cycles to get the players we need. Even if Frost had not gotten his QB recruit, I think both Gebbia and Bunch could have won us some games within Frost's system. But he did get his QB, and we already had players to surround him with. So, it's not going to be like trying to run a West Coast Offense with Joe Dailey, right?

Every week is a bad week to be an Akron Zip.

Ohio State takes these allegations very seriously and believes some punishment of the head coach is appropriate. In consideration of the fact that this was a position coach rather than a coordinator, and the fact he was only beating his wife rather than raping an entire generation of young men, they feel a 3-game suspension for some early, cupcake games will send a strong message that such behavior will absolutely NOT be tolerated in the future.

No idea. Have no idea what his skill level is. Haven't seen any kind of highlight video.

Hi Karrington. Apparently, you check this board. That's awesome. We're happy to have you. Welcome to Husker Nation! And welcome to HHC (feel free to PM me with your screen name and I'll keep it just between the two of us.) Apparently, @aphilso1 and I are the only ones on this board who think you might make the regular playing rotation this year. And about that, I need a small favor from you, actually. Make the top 8 rotation for me, would you please? Pull through on that one, OK? I need to re-establish some board cred after that episode where I said we shouldn't waste a scholarship on Terran Petteway. Thanks, man. I'll owe you one. Top 8. We're good, right?
-
I've said my dark horse candidate to contribute in the rotation is Karrington Davis. I think it's just me and @aphilso1 who have expressed any inkling that this kid might be good, and if he turns out to be a player who cracks the rotation, we'll look like friggin geniuses (because, of course, we are.) I'm hoping both Karrington and Dedoch are in the "Better than Expected" category; otherwise, you'll need one of the aforementioned between Nana and Thor to be through-the-roof most improved. I say all of this while acknowledging that I think Amir Harris is looking pretty good. I hope he's as good as expected because I'm expecting him to be in the rotation already.
-
What's the difference between a dark horse and a sleeper? Legit asking; not making fun.
-
You and I are the only ones I think that see Karrington Davis as a possible contributor. I hope he's in school and I hope he's healthy. We could very well need him this year.

I don't think you bring in a kid just to keep Creighton from getting him. These things roll in waves, and sometimes there are enough quality players coming out of Nebraska that you could grab one per year and they can play at the level we need. Other times, you might go years without a D1 caliber player in-state. Or, there's that D1 caliber player who just has no interest (or very little) in coming to play for Nebraska (Matt Hill, Mike Gesell, etc.) But I don't think there's a consistently good supply of basketball talent in this state that we can survive on taking the best (available) player from here every year. To put a little finer point on it, why not say the best kid from Lincoln? Would you make it a point to take the best kid from Lincoln every year? Of course not. That would be silly. There aren't enough D1 caliber recruits coming out of Lincoln year in and year out to do that. Well, there aren't always state-wide, either.
-
I think you might need to flip the minutes for Davis and Dedoch. Dedoch is going to play if he's anything better than a stiff because of what you mentioned about fouls and because there's no one else on the roster of scholarship players besides Heiman who's taller than 6'6".
-
My sense is he's a legit D1 caliber recruit. At this point, tough to gauge whether he's solid mid-major or P5 quality. But I think those are the parameters. At worst a solid mid-major-type player; otherwise, a solid potential contributor on a P5 team. I think he has sound fundamentals; I don't know if he has elite athleticism. But I think this is a good offer and a solid recruit. And after years of no Nebraska kids on the roster, it looks like we'll have Nebraska kids in consecutive recruiting classes. Wonder if Moos told Miles to make that a point of emphasis.

His twitter profile says he's a Husker. That's not conclusive of anything, but he hasn't changed it.

His film reminds me a lot of Jack McVeigh.
