  1. @thattimeofyearchanges said yesterday or the day before that we'd win it outright.
  2. Each of them is able to shoot that well. Roby and Copeland did it last year; Glynn the year before. Thomas Allen was close as a freshman. James Palmer went ice cold over the last several games last year, but prior to his 1-8 performance against Wisconsin, he was shooting over 36% from three (and we know he's been working on his shot). So, all 5 guys have demonstrated the ability to hit those kinds of numbers. I think Glynn will have a bounce-back kind of year to what he did as a sophomore, and everyone else is probably going to improve their shooting. I say probably, because I think it's been a point of emphasis in the off-season.
  3. Here's a bold prediction: I predict all 5 starters will average somewhere between 37% and 43% from beyond the arc.
  4. I think our starting 5 will be able to stand toe-to-toe with anyone we play. I'm only a bit worried about what we can bring off the bench. I had hoped against hope that Jordy would work hard at developing some post skills, which never materialized. But he could still come off the bench and fill the lane and put a body on someone like an Isaac Haas. We don't have a big big-man and we don't have size that can come in off the bench. We can play small ball with a couple of stretch 4s in place of an actual post, but we don't have that beast who can go in and bang and get some boards like a Tyler Cook at Iowa. I think we can check off all the other items on the list. But I worry if we have to go up against a team with a mobile, athletic, skilled big man. Defending the paint is still a concern.
  5. Yeah, we still have something to prove before we get elevated to Sweet 16 status. I mean, I'll take it ... but at the END of the season rather than the beginning.
  6. Is Jon Nyatawa saying what I think he's saying?
  7. He's a Tim Miles zucchini.
  8. Actually, we had some closer ones than that. Didn't we take them to OT just a couple of years ago? In any event, I'm saying that was a solid performance by Martinez and people complaining about him aren't seeing what I'm seeing, I guess. For the game, he was 24/42 (57%) with 2 TDs through the air, no INTs and a running score, which ain't bad. But he was incomplete on his last 4 attempts, which kind of distorts the numbers a bit. He's getting there. I think we'll be OK.
  9. Gutty performance by the freshman. What are people complaining about?
  10. No, but there are players every year who fit the bill for what we need. And if you look at our roster for next year and you're a big man who wants to grad-transfer, you can't help but think you'd have a good shot at significant minutes on a team that should be at least pretty decent.
  11. Listening to Matt and Greg on the radio, it sounded like they think it's sort of a situation of like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Officials are aware Nebraska is a heavily penalized team; therefore, they assume the Huskers commit a lot of penalties; therefore, they throw a lot of flags at stuff. This came up in course of commentary about some of the phantom fouls that were called on us during the Wisconsin game.
  12. Maybe Miles thinks we'll be in REALLY good position to pick up a graduate transfer big man.
  13. Alternate headline: Creighton Avoids Death Penalty by Agreeing to Accept Death Penalty by Bunga Bunga
  14. If Isaiah has a lottery pick year, it'll be bittersweet. Hate not having him for his senior year, but the kind of season we could have this year if he's lottery-pick material would make losing him to the NBA a year early worth it.
  15. Did I read somewhere that Akol was shooting over 40% from 3-point range? That was his brother's shortcoming, but sounds like these guys are very different players. Similar measurables in terms of size and athleticism, but based on the video linked above, Akol is maybe more of a perimeter player. Hopefully he has good handles and can attack the rim. Love the length and athleticism on the perimeter.
  16. Several of us have been saying that for awhile now.
  17. There's a little bit more than just a denial going for Brett Kavanaugh. There's a bit more substance to these allegations against these named programs as well. Now, if Benoit Benjamin's dad suddenly shows up and says he was offered money by Creighton boosters to have his son play there, except he can't remember who the boosters were or where they met or what they said exactly or how much they offered or any other details and his son says he doesn't remember anything like that happening, then the analogy would fit.
  18. Something seemed awfully strange with their sudden uptick in recruiting. And I mean it was sudden. Yeah, we landed some Rivals 4-stars, too. But ours were mostly guys who started out under the radar when we started going after them. Roby, for instance. We were on him long before he had any real recruiting attention. Morrow was a legacy recruit. Horne was an unranked 3-star when we discovered him in the interim between Burno and the other guy. Watson is really the only 4-star or Rivals 150 guy who was already a Rivals 150 guy when we got involved. But those other guys suddenly started getting visits and landing some commits from players who were pretty sought after. Something's rotten in the State of Denmark.
  19. We can also wait and see how things develop with jucos, senior transfers, or incoming freshmen who blossom during their senior year. Big men aren't in great supply, but it's very common among jucos to find a guy who's a big man who came on during his sophomore season, or a high school kid who was maybe playing behind someone his career and takes advantage of the opportunity when he finally gets the starting job as a senior. I don't think we have to fill the spot for the early signing period unless we find a guy who really fills the bill. Otherwise, for the last spot, I think we can wait and see who comes on during this season.
  20. Probably not the guy who was testifying under oath at a trial, under penalty of perjury, who has no earthly reason to lie about getting an offer of money from Creighton.
  21. Agree not to hijack Akol's thread. My understanding from the other camp was that Aguek's "camp" supported the idea at the time it was presented and Miles' "camp" was surprised and taken aback at the public reaction that took place when they thought everything was agreed and a go.
