  1. So ... sounds like the CU game will move from mid-December to late November to count as our contest in the Gavitt Games. If there was ever a year you wanted to catch them early, this would be that year.
  2. I'm impressed with the offers and visits we have coming in this month. But I'd never seen this picture before. Not sure how it would hold up in the NBA. I suspect it would look very different. Still, something to maintain some perspective about.
  3. Hey, isn't Banton like 6'9" or 6'10"?
  4. I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to be *that* guy. Thanks for being *that* guy for me.
  5. If I was 6'9"-6'10" I'd cause an eclipse.
  6. The ironic thing is his best shot for the NBA is also what would get him on the floor and starting for us. If he corrects those deficiencies and proves it on the floor this coming season, he's a high-end draft pick in 2022. So, go get that analysis, find out what they say you need to be able to do, and show that you can do it. I have a feeling the breakdown is going to sound something like "needs to show NBA range on his jumper, needs improved handles, needs improved quickness, needs to finish better at the rim, needs to hit freethrows at a higher rate." If he can do those things, he WILL start for us; if he cannot do those things, he WON'T be in the NBA regardless. I honestly think he CAN do those things. I hope that he WILL do those things and do them in a Husker uniform. Because returning talent matters. And our success this year depends in part on the new guys being as good as we hope, but also on our returning vets being a year better than they were. Experience matters in this game. A lot.
  7. Dennis Green wasn't the first to say that.
  8. What info are you going off of that makes you say you wouldn't be surprised if we get a commit? And should we infer you expect one? You think it's likely? Or just that it's a strong possibility? Because if it's merely plausible, it would still be a surprise for it to happen over his visit. So, give us some deets here.
  9. Can you imagine what a national darling Husker hoops would be if we made an unexpected deep run in the NCAA tourney? We’d be the number 1 story in sports nationally for weeks. Nothing else could touch it. Football winning a title wouldn’t even come close.
  10. I've always said the key is getting your foot in the door with a visit. If you can just get these kids to come for a *visit*, the opportunity of actually seeing what we have to offer and the ability for these kids to visualize themselves practicing at Hendricks (a great gin, BTW) and playing at PBA give us a legit chance to land a commit. If you can just get them to come for a visit. Nobody is going to be UN-impressed by what they see here. You're not going to lose anyone by what you show them on the visit. And, don't look now, but we're getting a lot of *real* visits.
  11. When we got a visit under Tim Miles from that 5 Star Center from Chicago, Okafor, I felt like that was just as a courtesy to Chin Coleman due to the Chicago Simeon connection and Mac Irvin fire, and also because he wanted to check out our new facilities. This feels like they’re visiting because they actually have legitimate interest. Now whether that turns into a commitment or not is yet to be seen. But Okafor was never seriously considering us; these players apparently are.
  12. No real way around it. You have a tear that’ll get worse if you don’t excise the torn part. Being 100% normal is not an option.
  13. I will join you out on that limb.
  14. No, regular golf is already an Olympic sport. The question is whether to add Frisbie golf and sand greens golf to the Olympics. And 3-on-3 golf.
  15. I’m assuming #8 is equestrian dressage, which is not like putting dresses on a horse but has more to do with demonstrating an exquisite level of training and skill in various tasks that the horse possesses.
  16. Congratulations to Pius X Boys' Golf for the Class A-3 District Golf Championship at Holmes Golf Course. Charlie Hoiberg shot a 4-under 68 to place 1st. Jason Kolbas shot a 3-under 69 to tie for 2nd. Kody Sander carded a 2-under 70 to tie for4th. And Sam Hoiberg finished way back in 6th place at 1 over. School record score of 280. That's some damn good high school golf, fellas. For a high school team in this state? That's unreal.
  17. I hear curling is an Olympic sport. Ridiculous. What'll they come up with next? Badminton? 3-on-3 basketball? Totally no standards.
  18. That's not a sport. Here, this is a sport ...
  19. The guy with the phone was waiting for an excuse to clobber the ref. That's why he was filming like that. And once the reaction was provoked, it's like anything after that is fair game including the body slam and the continued punching and kicking and other people joining in. I've seen this happen before. It's not fun and games. The person who is antagonizing you is looking for any excuse to whoop your ass. Your best option is to break contact and get out of there.
  20. Yes. Mason Miller's uncle got a "good job." It was not reported whether there was any other consideration exchanged.
  21. That's it. Yard House. Everything I've had there was really good. And the place was always busy, which is a good sign. I have to tell a side-story about the place. The first time I was there, there was this EXTREMELY super hot girl at the bar with this dude and, from their interactions, they were on a first date kind of situation rather than, like, a couple that had been dating awhile. She keeps on having him buy drinks. About the time we're done with our meal and getting ready to go, she starts acting like she's so drunk she's about to pass out and, lo and behold, her not-so-attractive female friend, who is definitely not dressed for a night out, shows up to give her a ride home. She regains some lucidity just long enough to say she was sorry for having to bail on him but, y'know, she's just so drunk she needs to go home and go to bed. And hot drunk girl and not-hot friend just walk out and leave the poor guy alone at the bar with the tab. And I just remember thinking I have never seen a person so blithely use two other people the way hot girl had just used the guy to buy her dinner and a bunch of drinks and then used the not-hot friend to come bail her out. And I was betting "this has probably happened before. Probably not the first time she's called not-hot friend to come 'rescue' her. And probably won't be the last."
  22. There's a really good restaurant down in the area where the KC pro soccer arena is (down by that nascar track and the Great Wolf Lodge.) Wish I could recall the name. They've been super busy both times I've been there. Put out really good grub. Small chain. I think they brew their own beer. Does this sound familiar at all? I had the poke natchos appetizer if that rings any bells. It was delicious.
  23. Not bad. Not bad at all.
  24. Eventually, basketball is going to run out of new names and they'll recycle some of the old ones. I'm frankly surprised there haven't been a dozen Derrick Walkers out there that you had to sort through when you wanted to find his stats.
