OK, I'm calling it. If this guy signs with us, he starts at point.
-
Also, why were you up at 4:30 in the morning on a Saturday?

The kid looks good. His film is impressive and his stats back up that it's real. I understand Hoiberg decided to reach out because he thought this kid had a level of talent we couldn't pass up and, if he's willing to come, we'd make room for him. As I see his film, I can see why Hoiberg likes this kid. If he's as good as his film, he's probably a guy who initiates the offense and would fill the role Banton would have filled, which is different than the role Lat fills. That's just my impression. I could be way off. Someone care to offer any other insight?

I'm going to try to do this from memory. First it was Keisei. Then Wilhelm. Then we add Bryce. Drop Teddy. Drop Akol and Yvan. Add CJ and Keon. And Oleg. Thor bids adieu as does Shamiel. And, really, I thought we had our roster pretty well set for next year. But, hey, that means we have a spot or two open, so might as well bring in another guy who will count as a freshman. Can never have too many freshmen, I always say. If we add another freshman, this is going to be crazy. Yeah, he played 2/3 of a normal season and so he's going to be a seasoned freshman, and yeah, the kid looks really good. But seven freshmen? Or course, if this guy is as good as his film looks (and as good as Hoiberg and Co evidently think he is) then he could very well slide into the starting lineup next to Bryce. And I'd be OK with that. He looks like a PG to me. A PG who can shoot from outside. And the competition for the other three starting spots will be extremely intense. Because there's going to be a lot of talent on this roster next year. As talented as any Husker team since the Tim Miles era. And I really mean that.

So far.

This kid's pretty good. If we're going after him, must mean we think we have room for him. Point guard/forward? With all the big men, that class could use a point guard.
-
Can't speak for ALL of the greater SE Nebraska area, but down by Independence Hall and Washington Square in south central Philly, it doesn't look too bad.
-
Shamiel got a lot better as the season went on. If he can ever get back to his 38.5% shooting from beyond the arc like he did his freshman year, he could be a real weapon. Just cut out the charges.

Link?

He'd be in the same recruiting class as Simeon Wilcher. I mean, just sayin.

2021 SG Keisei Tominaga - Juco - LOI
Norm Peterson replied to uneblinstu's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
That little MFer has some MFin' moxie. He battled hard the whole game. Look at these highlights. 【富永啓生 レンジャーカレッジ ラストゲーム 感動をありがとう】vs カウリー・カウンティCC 116【26得点 4リバウンド 4アシスト】 - YouTube -
If that's what's being referenced, it'd would be a pretty stupid comparison by whomever is making it (not you, obviously) because Jamel White was ALREADY ON THE TEAM when we hired his uncle. The only reason Barry hired Jamel's uncle was because nobody else would come work for him. All the credible candidates had turned him down. They all figured he'd be fired as soon as Steve Pederson had a chance and nobody wanted to go down with that sinking ship. Except a completely not-qualified guy who wasn't otherwise busy at the time. And who just happened to have a nephew on the team. Less than 4 months later, Collier quit and his staff went with him. There was no quid pro Miller involved in that situation. So, the situations are not even remotely comparable

I believe it is true.
-
They hired the uncle of their top 100 recruit who was verbally committed but had not signed his LOI. He's now signed. I'm sure that was just a coincidence.

My sense is that guys who grew up here and watched NCAA tournaments when they were little kids tend to be more swayed by the name on the front of the jersey. Guys who grew up overseas and came to the US to play a year or two of prep school or juco ball before landing a D1 college scholarship tend to be less swayed by the basketball reputation of the school because they tend to be less familiar with those reputations. For them, it tends to be more about their relationship with the coach and general comfort level with the school. Therefore, they tend to be less likely to switch after they commit when a blueblood program makes a push. The first guy I can remember thinking that about was Aleks Maric. The way I remember it, he started getting some serious recruiting push from some more blueblood type programs and, notwithstanding that push, he 1) committed to us, and 2) remained committed to us.

I'm sure he's a perfect fit for the system they run and, actually, they really offered him first but nobody else besides their fans know it.

Both Keisei and Keita were named to the All-Tournament team.

Here's his twitter account if anyone wants to pass on some personal congratulatory words to him. That performance in the title game deserves some praise, for sure. https://twitter.com/Blaisekeita15/with_replies

"Claimed offers"? I don't think I've ever seen it put that way before. It's almost like they question it. Are you *sure* they've offered you?

Holy smokes! He's very efficient, no?
