Huskers Sell out Public Tickets at Pinnicle Bank

Never leave a blank canvas for others to paint on..... Haha. Don't knock it until you try it... -
You're joking right? No I'm not joking. The spring period we ended up with plan "D" as far as a "big" man goes. We really didn't improve ourselves much in a position of glaring need, with immediate playing time there for the taking. I love what the staff is doing identifying targets but lets see what happens next year in recruiting. Will it be the same old same old or is Nebraska basketball show it can land a difference maker instead of just filling the roster. Miles appears to have the goods, but I'm pretty disappointed we couldn't get a big guy with the immediate playing time available & the enthusiasm around the program right now. Very disappointed the 2 guys with extensive recruiting ties in the Midwest left without being in Lincoln for 12 months. Love coach Smith, Love coach Harriman, need to fill that last spot with an upgrade recruiting wise from Johnson (who was hopefully going to pay dividends in year 2 or 3 with all his ties in Minnesota). Need a guy who can give us an "in" with the best in the Midwest if we want to get into the top half & potentially get into the top quarter of the conference. Miles has just as many recruiting ties to Minnesota. I do agree, though, that these next two hires need to have some serious recruiting connections. Miles isn't dumb. He gets that. I think that is probably why he didn't go out and fill the position right away. He knows it's important, so he wants to take his time and make sure he gets the right guy. Maybe a guy that will stick around for a few seasons, so he doesn't have to fill those spots again in a year.

Dude, a big man is literally the only thing Miles didn't get in the 2013 class. Fuller and Webster have a legit shot to be starting before the season is over next year. Fuller was also just listed (by a national analyst) as one of the top 5 players that will surprise peope next season. I would say that's a pretty successful recruiting class for a coach to put together in a few months, especially at Nebraska. Before you start blaming Miles, realize that any recruiting issues right now are because of Nebraska and the program's lack of tradition and lack of post season success on the court, not because of Miles. This is the best recruiting class Nebraska has had in over a decade. That's a pretty good first step. Trust me, I want this to happen just as quickly as anyone. I want Nebraska's program successfully turned-around yesterday. But that's not how it works. It's unrealistic to expect Miles to have built quality recruiting relationships that yield multiple consensus top150 players before the 2014 or 2015 classes. Let's just pump the brakes for a second Chicken Little...

I really like the bolded part. I would love to see Nebrasketball play that high tempo and above the rim offense.

Cheatham said he narrow his list down some this summer and beginning of senior year and will take officials early senior year. "I plan on signing this November my birthday which is November 17 that's pretty much it. If not the same signing period" Nebraska looking for playmakers "I like coach Miles (Nebraska) he's a great guy always energetic he seems like oriented just as me. I've seen the arena that is suppose to be built, every thing seems to be good." Cheatham said "He (Miles) talks to me about being an all around guy. He said they are trying to build a program running gun, play above the rim stuff like that. He loves my athleticism, he loves my passion for the game. He loves it that I bring it night in and night out. He likes a lot about me. I seem to fit into his program." Cheatham said http://huskerjournal.com/recruiting.php

I'm pretty excited for Nathan Hawkins to get to Nebraska and put on the Husker uniform. He seems to be all about Nebrasketball. He tweets about the program regularly and is always reppin Husker gear.

Huskers Sell out Public Tickets at Pinnicle Bank

Yeah, I agree that the upgrades including suites automatically took the capacity down. But they also took the capacity down further, even though there is a waiting list for volleyball tickets. The details are still being finalized, but the Sports Center is expected to have between 6,000 and 7,000 seats for volleyball matches, according to John Ingram, associate athletic director for capital planning and construction. A curtain in the upper sections will allow more seats to become available to meet demand. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/volleyball/one-more-season-at-nu-coliseum-then-a-volleyball-upgrade/article_216cc050-a40c-55b4-b44f-40fc3509e421.html To me, the reason for putting the curtain in the upper section to limit seating, even though there are 2k on the volleyball wait list, is to keep the demand for the ticket as high as possible. Otherwise, there would be no reason to limit capacity at all. -

Do you know what the capacity of the arena would be if they expanded the upper deck? I wonder if Nebraska basketball would want to risk the sellout by adding seats. But on the other hand, the potential revenue would be even greater for big games if they were able to sell them out. It's an interesting thought though. Haha, "risk the sellout"? We don't have the nation's longest sellout streak, like football. We don't have ANY streak. Why we would worry about it "risking the sellout"? Do you not think that keeping the demand high for volleball tickets is a large part of reducing capacity at Devaney? -

Thank you. I obviously wasn't trying to compare Nebraska basketball selling out this season to the football sell out streak. -

Don't know why I neg-repped you there, I didn't mean to. Must have slipped when I hit the quote button. I have heard that building out the rest of the upper deck would push capacity to about 18k...not sure about the voracity of those claims, but it would be nice if we could get to that point. That would be pretty impressive if Nebrasketball could sell out 18k -

We don't have the nation's longest sellout streak, like football. We don't have ANY streak. Why we would worry about it "risking the sellout"? Because when your tickets are sold out, the demand is greater. When people are excluded from something, the demand generally goes up. And as someone posted earlier in this thread: "You can now walk into any recruits house in the Country and say "You WILL play in a brand new, sold out arena". The price of that can't be undersold." -

I haven't seen enough film on him to know if he is a stud or not, but my initial reaction would be that I would rather Nebraska go after a Center, so that Pitchford, Smith, and Rivers can play the PF spot. If the kid has the same kind of skills as Tummala (which would make him too good for Nebraska not to sign him if they can), then I will likely change my tune, but my initial reaction is that Nebraska currently has 3 players that can play the 4-Spot, but no legit contributors for the 5-Spot. I think that both Pitchford and Smith could do some good things at the 5-Spot, but I think the more natural position for both of them is the 4-Spot. Like Ubel, I think they could manage at the 5-Spot if there is no true Center, but their potential is much greater at the 4-Spot.
