It could be nothing, but it seems pretty convenient that Nebraska/Miles announced this on the same day that 3 high profile recruits are visiting campus...Maybe to stir up some more excitement around the program while they are here? Could be nothing, but I feel like Miles has a reason and a plan for everything that he does/says...

From the Rivals article (FREE): What makes Hunter the most valuable to Nebraska is his recruiting connections The hiring comes just in time for the Huskers as well. In less than a month, the second round of NCAA basketball recruiting evaluation periods will get underway in July, and it was crucial for Miles to have a complete staff in place before hitting the road. Hunter's East Coast recruiting connections should open up some important doors, especially when Rutgers and Maryland join the Big Ten Conference in 2014.

https://twitter.com/huskerextra/status/344127284304805889 Tim Miles' patience in his search for a Nebraska men's basketball assistant coach has paid off. Kenya Hunter, the longest-tenured member of John Thompson III's staff at Georgetown, is joining Nebraska's staff. Miles announced the hire on Monday, two months after Ben Johnson left Nebraska for Minnesota. Hunter has spent the last six seasons at Georgetown. There, he played a major role in the recruitment of 11 players who were ranked among the Top 100 nationally by either ESPN.com or Rivals.com. He helped development four NBA players at Georgetown, including Roy Hibbert and Greg Monroe, and will likely have a third NBA first-round pick this month, when Big East player of the year Otto Porter will likely go among the top five picks. Hunter was also an assistant coach at Xavier, and was on staff at NC State as director of operations. Since the 2001-02 season, he's been a part of 10 NCAA Tournament appearances at three schools. Miles said today that Hunter will help expand Nebraska's recruiting horizons. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/miles-hires-georgetown-assistant/article_b49245cc-d1e6-11e2-90be-001a4bcf887a.html

Big Time! Miles is batting 1.000 IMO since he has taken over as the head coach of Nebrasketball. I hope he can keep it up.

Here is an article about Janacek: http://future150.com/hs/basketball-news/2016-sg-hunter-janacek-vastly-improving-2292
-
Well I'm not sure about that, but he would've only been a freshman this last season and probably only like 14 years old, so I would think that he will have plenty of time for improvement.

OWH had a brief story that Coach Miles & the Huskers planned to carry forward the unsigned scholarship for next season... Yeah, I haven't read the article, but I kind've assumed that was the case, because I haven't heard anything about any new guys popping up on the list for this class.
-
Yeah, In my opinion: The top of Nebraska's board should be Cheatham, Gilmore, and Turner. Sign them all and let the roster sort itself out. This is assuming that Nebraska carries over the scholarship from this season.

"The hardest (going after him) is Nebraska, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State," he said. "I've been on and off with Baylor, Texas, Houston and Creighton." http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1513764 -

Nike EYBL Player Evaluations: 2014 Zylan Cheatham on 06-07-2013 05:27 PM Coast 2 Coast Hoops AK Murthy Part of what makes Cheatham a great rebounder is his mobility. The rangy forward covers a lot of ground, and has good instincts and timing when shots come off the rim. As a result, Cheatham is able to get to rebounds that bigger and slower defenders sometimes cannot. His mobility also helps him put the ball on the floor and drive. Cheatham is quick with the ball in his hands, and has good burst for a player his size. The drive is probably Cheatham's biggest offensive strength right now. 2014 Zylan Cheatham, a 6'7" 200 lb forward out of Phoenix's Westwind Prep, is one of the state's top players. Known for his athleticism and rebounding ability, Cheatham has received nationwide recruiting attention. Cheatham is a bouncy athlete who moves fluidly. And though he has a muscular physique, his frame still has plenty of room for added weight. As he develops his body, his strength could become a valuable asset for a team. As one of the top offensive rebounders in the Nike EYBL, Cheatham's ability on the glass is obvious. He gets off the ground quickly, and he's able to use his athleticism and length to corral rebounds. He has a knack for tip in's and is extremely active underneath the basket. He's a player that can make a big impact cleaning up his teammate's misses. Cheatham has a number of physical gifts, but is still a raw player at this point. Though he is listed as both a small forward and a power forward, Cheatham is still developing the perimeter skill to be effective away from the basket and will likely play the four as he gets bigger and stronger. Cheatham's game is not based on shooting, but he still needs to improve in that area. If he can't develop a consistent shot from mid and close range, Cheatham could become a very one dimensional player. Bottom Line: As one of the best players in the state of Arizona, Cheatham is drawing a lot of attention from the west coast and is starting to get looks from schools around the country as well. He's gifted physically, and is already an excellent rebounder with good instincts near the basket. As a player who is still developing other areas of the game, Cheatham has great potential as a utility forward. http://www.pointguardu.com/content/nike-eybl-player-evaluations-2014-zylan-cheatham-1870/

Nebraska and Cincinnati have agreed to a home-and-home series in men's basketball, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Thursday. The newspaper said that no contracts have been signed, but that the schools have a verbal agreement. Nebraska will visit Cincinnati this season, and the Bearcats will play in Lincoln in 2014-15. Cincinnati was 22-12 last season and lost to Creighton in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. It marked the third straight 20-win season and third straight NCAA Tournament appearance for Cincinnati. The Bearcats return two starters, including leading scorer Sean Kilpatrick, who averaged 17 points per game. Kilpatrick was a second-team All-Big East selection last year as a junior and ranked fifth in the league in scoring. Cincinnati, 13-5 in the Big East last season, will play in the renamed American Athletic Conference next season. Cincinnati leads the all-time series with Nebraska 3-0, with the most recent game an 84-73 Bearcat victory on Dec. 31, 1996 in Puerto Rico. Nebraska, which has home nonconference games with Florida Gulf Coast and Miami, plus an appearance in the Charleston Classic, will announce its complete schedule later this summer. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/life-in-the-red/cincy-nu-hoops-agree-to-home-and-home/article_8d61e1b2-cf0f-11e2-af7f-0019bb2963f4.html
