How close were we? = How close are we?

Is there a reason you are not able to mention who it is? -

To answer the original question, we lost way too many games by way too may points. Had we beaten Purdue, it might have got people examining our resume a bit closer. We just were not good enough as evidenced by the lines in our games. -
Agree with this but Keita wouldn’t be as much of a huge keep for me. Not going to make differences imo.

I am all for it having under for the game. Easy first half winner. Let’s get this clock rolling!

Are we confident that Lloyd can shoot well from distance?
-
Would hurt in the next one if he can’t give good minutes. Maryland really hurt us on lobs and roll actions. BK is pretty good with positioning himself in those pathways. Do not take this as an assumption we will win tonight. Willhelm is going to have to play well in this tournament. He doesn’t need to shoot unless late in the clock.

It appears to me after now watching about 4 games, that our bat speed is noticeably better than last year and any time in the Erstad era.

Was curious to see what the result on our actual Ken POM score is by a game such as BC winning by 9 more than expected by Pomeroy did for us. Moved us up .02 points. Us beating Minny by 6 would drop us by .19 points minus a tiny bump for Minny improvement in the POM for only losing by 6. We are really hurt by the fact we played them when they were healthy all 3 times and they got destroyed while they were not. The NET will largely mirror the Pomeroy movement wise at this point of the season. Tough deal.

It matters so little now as far as moving in the NET goes I wouldn’t lose much sleep other than ones that can impact the crazy (far too wide spread) quads. each of our opponents games matter roughly two or three percent as much as our own games do. And as evidenced by Iowa win moving us two spots, that isn’t very much. Our NET was doomed when we lost too many games by a lot when didn’t have our full team or were adjusting to devastating injuries. It cannot be undone.

Gotta haves, portal or otherwise

People would be way too happy to worry about ordering you a batch of crow. -
I believe there is another equally douche baggy one left in high school. A friend mentioned it the other day that his boy played against him in Aau ball and he is a “whiny bitch” also.

just an FYI that most people don’t consider in gambling recreationally. They get you with the eye candy of that 250-1. It almost always ends up being better off to simply play it game by game. Play Nebraska on money line against Gophers. If we win play profits plus original stake in Nebraska money line second game. Rinse and repeat all the way through and it would likely pay closer to 350-1 at the end. You also get the added benefit of aborting the mission at any point, or going less along the way to hedge more easily and without paying more juice and potentially funding the book with significant money to be able to make a large hedge bet.

So that would suggest that we are somewhere between 13th and 16th team out of dance if chalk holds in conference tourneys. Can that be made up with wins over Minny Maryland Indiana and NW that would have us 9-1 in last ten? Selection folks have shown tendencies to be lazy in regards to Sunday conference tourney games in the past. I think we are four wins away from dance.

In a fairly small sample size at the time of injuries I believe I recall seeing that walker geiesel Gary wilcher and bandoumel was a top 20 lineup in the nation. I think the true answer completely hinges on if Hoiberg woukd have implemented the shooting more when needed or not. We will never know. Obviously we should be better with them, even if they were only used situationally.

While not a proponent of the NET either, it looks like Iowa dropped from 33 to 37 from what I am looking at, Drake jumping a dozen with a win over Bradley blows my mind.

It is sort of like saban begging like a crybaby to get in as they should want the best teams in playoffs. They chose results of football games. I know that metrics generally paint a better picture of who the best teams are. I am just not sure that when selecting teams for a tourney it should matter more than things like, you know, winning basketball games. Metrics consider us “lucky.” I don’t think that should be the job of the selection people. Winning or losing a game by 1 should matter a lot more than a two point margin that is in the same side of the ledger. If they do want to use something that evaluates teams, then let Vegas handle it. They know who is injured and how much it impacts things. Computers cannot pick up on that stuff. They are using flawed metrics to evaluate teams so we don’t get the best results teams or the best teams.

As long as we keep the defensive assistants in tact we have to four capable three point shooters out there damn near all the time. Have been thinking about this a lot of late. Just didn’t have the stones to bring it up out if respect for how hard those two played. I do think bandoumel would have eventually started shooting like had throughout his career. Assuming our results wouldn’t have been a too much better with them, which is pry a safe assumption, we will start next year in a much better place as a result, Especially if Tominaga were to come back.

Drake moves up 12 spots for beating Bradley on a neutral court. We move up 2 for beating Iowa on the road. That is awesome.

Everyone is going to have different perceptions of who is best to play, given the parity in the league. That being said, I think this is about the best path we could realistically ask for. That being said, we can easily lose to Minny. If we survive that, we will play a Maryland team that is better than we are, but doesn't shoot well away from home. You add in the notoriously difficult on college kids shooting backdrop at United Center, I think we can win if we take away the lobs and the pick and roll, roll man. Then Indiana who simply is not great AND has not faced our defense in a long long time. It is different than most Big 10 defenses. Then hopefully NW or Penn St. Neither overwhelm us talent wise. I think we are in the dance at that point with a respectable effort against whoever we play and a non absurd set of results in other tourneys.
