  1. If Collier is still in charge of it, we might need to just make the NCAA to otherwise qualify for the NIT after than nonsense last time with our seed he dealt us.
  2. Has anyone actually heard that is is considering leaving or is it all speculative in nature?
  3. I honestly have some doubts about the true significance of strength of schedule in relation to just piss pounding crappy teams with the NET. It seems like a good SOS helps improve your floor, but not really your NET ceiling unless you are elite.
  4. It was during a recent BTN broadcast during the game. I believe it was a road game, possibly Rutgers. The commentator specifically referred to him as the "defensive coordinator" and said he handles every scout and also even alluded to how rare and unheard of that is, just as you did. Also, when I watched South Alabama to get a feel for his matchup zone, it did not resemble this in many ways. They were not auto doubling the post for example. I also agree that the defense is new to this year. We were using Sadlers schemes previously. Only until late in the year last year did it become obvious to me that Nate took on a larger role, and our coaching in all aspects has been noticeably better ever since. That being said, Howard was largely hired because of his defensive knowledge and his imprints are obviously on the defense, I just personally don't think near as much as you do. Also Sam said on his radio show early in year that Nate is running the defense. Whatever the case is, they have collectively figured out a really, really good scheme and we don't have guys confused too terribly often. There are a few nuances I would like to see off it but it could lead to confusion, so who knows. In any event, when I posted several times that I thought we would be better than most thought, because we would take defense seriously, I was pretty sure the effort would be there. I was not sure that the coaching would be. With Loesner and Howard, we have the defensive coaching in spades. I believe that we can go after a little more scoring skill with this staff in place and still get solid defense with these schemes.
  5. West Virginia 4-10 in league play and 60 spots ahead if us in NET.
  6. Well damn, it looks like this ship has sailed again. Anyway, to answer your question they are class 6A, the largest in Oklahoma. Horrible basketball history. It is the best football school in Oklahoma by a wide margin.
  7. The NET(and KenPOM, although not as valuable a tool by the selection folks) need to devalue the early season games some, especially the MOV in those games IMO. It seems like an obvious bad flaw to me.
  8. Have 6 days at least, which may not be all good when hot though.
  9. Certainly not trying to argue, but you were asking if you were missing something. They brought it up on a recent broadcast how he was in charge of the defense. Also Sam Hoiberg on his radio show earlier this year said the same thing. He also has extensive defensive background going back to working with Larry Eustachy at Iowa St and S. Miss. It also was fairly obvious to me that he took over the defense late in the year for Doc last year and the results showed it. It coincided with DOC turning his back to the team on the sideline and ultimately being relieved of his role. (yeah yeah, I know Doc wasn't a coach). Obviously any good staff works together well, and I think he and Howard certainly are.
  10. He is the defensive coordinator. Howards schemes obviously a large part of it.
  11. I believe you are. Loenser has every scout and adjusts the defense accordingly. We are playing a variety of defenses, but obviously Howard has had a huge impact as well.
  12. Would guess he is giving important input.
  13. Man what a buzzkill after the hoops win.
  14. Loenser's defense. And it is a blast to watch.
  15. Couple of key front end misses make it a little worse in my view, but your point is a great one.
  16. I don't think they got outcoached. Willard is doing a tremendous job. They were very well prepared IMO.
  17. It is so much determined by how much you win or lose by over the course of a season. It is very hard to change it a lot at once. Have to hope other things are helping decide things and if we keep winning it might.
  18. Congrats Husker Nation!! That is all I have right now.
  19. Was likely to be 2 or 1. Most of the 8 or so that will make it are not deserving of a top 4 seed.
  20. I think some folks confusion and frustration comes from the fact that using quads to decipher NET rankings does not take MOV into account, while the NET itself does. This is not friendly for us.
  21. Well maybe there is a more appropriate term, but my point is beating the number 6 NET on the road is not the same as beating number 74. Anything that is lumping them into the same thing is lazy and creates inaccurate views. There is no logic in calling it a day at 75 instead of 71 or 77. Thus my usage of the term, but I understand it isn't the exact definition, other than the part where something can be used out of convenience instead of true value which applies perfectly here.
  22. I think the use of arbitrary quads to evaluate anything is a larger part of where the problems lie.
  23. I think some folks might be confusing using quad wins to evaluate teams versus how the NET ranking is compiled. Your NET ranking has nothing to do with quad wins and losses.
  24. Wake Forest is all over him right now,
