  1. Call Geno Auriemma. What's the worst that could happen? We don't win an NCAA game?
  2. Nebraska's shooting percentages over the past seven years: 2013 — 41% FG; 31% 3P; 69% FT 2014 — 43% FG; 33 % 3P; 72% FT 2015 — 41% FG; 28% 3P; 71% FT 2016 — 45% FG; 35% 3P; 73% FT 2017 — 42% FG; 32 % 3P; 71% FT 2018 — 43% FG; 35% 3P; 72% FT 2019 — 43% FG; 34% 3P; 71% FT
  3. The only good thing about that flight is that it will leave Pennsylvania.
  4. Both the football and basketball teams peaked in November.
  5. In 2015, we finished on a nine-game losing streak, and we lost 11 of the last 12. This is looking like a seven-game losing streak and another six-gamer surrounding that two-game winning streak. How can we even dream to beat Purdue, Michigan, MSU, Iowa, or even Penn State if we play them again in the tourney. The only matchup that would allow us to win another game would be NW in the tourney, and that's not gonna happen because they're likely to be the 14 seed, and we won't finish 11th. We'll be in the 12-13 game against Indiana or Penn State. I hate college basketball, and if Iowa wins on some lucky heave again tonight, I may not go to work tomorrow (because it's another shite day here in Iowa City).
  6. Clear. The. Fucking. Bench. Now.
  7. Truth: I can't watch. I just check the ESPN Gamecast. I can't stand to see a few dozen joyful Pennsylvanians.
  8. I think Petteway needs to get the ball to Shields or Webster more and shoot less. Wait. Damn. I was having a flashback to 2015.
  9. We're shooting 42.4 percent overall. For us on the road, that's sizzling.
  10. Don't tell anyone, but he's not a very good shooter. ON EDIT: He's a great shooter. He's not a very good maker.
  11. You gotta laugh, 'cause that first half has me near tears.
  12. From that same story, games to look out for tonight: Dayton at DAVIDSON (NET: 67, SOS: 128), 5 p.m. CT CBSSN Ohio at No. 25 BUFFALO (NET: 24, SOS: 71), 6 p.m. CT ESPN+ NEBRASKA (NET: 38, SOS: 77) at Penn State, 6 p.m. CT FS1 Rhode Island at VCU (NET: 42, SOS: 31), 7 p.m. CT CBSSN No. 16 Florida State at CLEMSON (NET: 41, SOS: 43), 8 p.m. CT ESPNU BAYLOR (NET: 36, SOS: 45) at No. 19 Iowa State, 8 p.m. CT ESPN2 ALABAMA (NET: 50, SOS: 20) at Texas A&M, 8 p.m. CT SECN
  13. "There is nothing after tonight until it's tomorrow." — Friedrich Naismith, James' nihilist half-brother
  14. There's a metaphor out there somewhere. We just have to find the right one.
  15. Will he have to call the bank shot from the corner?
  16. Fran McCaffery with a gold-plated rabbit's foot planted firmly in his ass. Or the devil has lain claim to one more soul.
  17. He, too, is someone's son. Probably.
  18. Yeah. I'm going for it. (Plus, I just watched a documentary about Joan Jett, so that changed my mind, too.)
  19. WOO-HOO!!! I'm a professional golfer!!! Third place gets me more money in one weekend than I'll ever make in my entire life!!! Lay it up.
  20. I'm pretty sure Kent said, "Sit down, Dick," after he called Richard an "idiot." "Idiot" is at 3:05:09 and "Dick" is about seven seconds later.
  21. My father officiated high school and small college football. At Seacrest Field about 30 years ago, he was serving as the umpire, who stands in the middle of the defense. He was blindsided and tore up his knee pretty badly. I sat among a group of Grand Island HS fans, adults all. As my father lay on the field, in clear pain and distress, these GI people cheered and said some of the most vile things I've heard from alleged adults. They quieted down only when the ambulance came on the field. I've tried to be judicious in my critiques of officials since. And I've always hated Grand Island, though I know it's irrational.
