Damn. I had Minny winning 61-59. Great consolation prize, though. -

Not quite, but we had a pretty good run 73-74 through 86-87. That's 14 straight winning seasons overall, and the only losing conference season was 84-85. At least a few of those teams would have made a 64-team NCAA field, and one or two may actually have won a game, particularly that NIT FInal Four squad of 1983. -

Of Iowa's nine rotation players, five are in-state kids: Baer, Bohannon, Wieskamp, Kriener and McCaffery. Pemsl is also an Iowan, but is out for the year. Moss is from Chicago, of which Iowa City is an unofficial suburb. -

FYI, Kansas' last losing conference season: 1989, Roy Williams' first as coach after the carpetbagger Larry Brown won an NCAA title. And does anybody else remember Duke's 2-14 ACC season in 1995? (BTW, Phuk Dook.) -

When Danny had a winning conference season, aside from 1999, we got a ticket to the Dance. That's what so annoying about last year's 13-5 season. In the Big Ten. NIT. Fifth Seed. -

Me, too (Correction from last post, our last winning conference season before Miles was in 1999, not 1998: 1987 — 7-7 1988 — 4-10 1989 — 3-11 1990 — 3-11 1991 — 9-5 1992 — 7-7 1993 — 8-6 1994 — 7-7 1995 — 4-10 1996 — 4-10 1997 — 7-9 1998 — 10-6 1999 — 10-6 2000 — 4-12 That's our #Nebrasketball Golden Era, folks, unless you were alive in the 1910s, of course. To be fair, Cip had 7 winning conference seasons in 17, while Moe had 3 in 6 seasons. -

Keep this in mind: we had zero winning conference seasons between 1999 (Nee) and 2014 (Miles). Miles repeated the feat in 2018, so he will finish his career with two winning conference seasons in seven years. Nee had four winning conference seasons in 14. Collier had zero. Sadler had zero. Let's do as you say and wish them all the best. What the team accomplished last year was under-appreciated at the time, so we shouldn't diminish it now that most of those players and the coaches will no longer be with us. Go Big Red! -

More like the Bill Glassford — took over an unmitigated disaster of a program, lasted seven seasons, some limited success, lots of players left the team, one humbling trip to the Dance (Orange Bowl). I just hope we don't have to wait through our Pete Elliott and Bill Jennings phase before we get to OUR Devaney. -
i'd like to see this starting lineup. smallball.

Palmer and Watson provide an intriguing and painful conundrum for Miles as all three head out the door. They've all three given their hearts to the program (along with Borchardt), and they've all had a limited degree of success here — and by "limited," I mean as much as any player or coach has had since Lue and Nee took off nearly 20 years ago. So do you give them fewer minutes? It's not like Miles is indebted to the program at this point that he feels it's important to HIM to play younger players in place of more proven players, especially because any demotion will not improve team morale, and it would really cast a pall on the March 9 Senior Day against Iowa, the one and only game that I consider a "must win" from here on out. In short, yeah, Miles could adopt a WTF attitude and do some unexpected things with the rotation, but it could actually make things worse and tarnish whatever small legacy the seniors will be leaving. -

1 - Allen 2 - Palmer 3 - Thor 4 - Nana 5 - Roby Glynn and Tanner off the bench. Maybe even a little Justin C. What's the worst that could happen? We go on a seven-game losing streak? -
At CSU, he was a builder. He took over a team with Marcus Walker and a bunch of walk-ons. They went 0-16 in the MWC in that first year. At NDSU, he was a builder. I think you can make an argument that, while overall Tim hasn't succeeded in the way we want, he built something that neither Barry nor Doc were able to build — a reputation for Nebraska being a place where talented high school players and transfers looking for a new start could come in and make a difference. In short, he built up the talent levels here, but not the overall program. C'est la vie. We had some good times. Au revoir, mon ami.

No need to pile on Miles. The die is cast. I'd rather appreciate the months Tim has given us in that seven years that we didn't enjoy in the previous 13: Feb. 8-March 9, 2014: an 8-1 run that culminated with No-Sit Sunday and the Selection Show excitement on March 16. January 2016: a four-game winning streak that included Nebraska's second-consecutive home victory against Michigan State. January 2018: a 7-3 record with a last-second win against Illinois and a manhandling of Michigan. February 2018: a 5-1 record with a thrilling Senior Day blowout of Penn State. Nov. 14-Dec. 16: 2018: a 7-2 run that included Nebraska's first victory over Creighton in nearly a decade. Yeah, it will end badly. Most coaching tenures do, including Nee's and Iba's. Cipriano's tenure ended tragically, of course, putting all the rest of this pouting in its proper perspective. Just like that ex-wife you have (OK, maybe it's just me): it wasn't meant to be, but at least we can remember the good times, no matter how few and far between they may have been.

Well, there was one positive: Tom got his shot back. The rest of the team? 15 of 46, or 32.6 percent.
