Nebraska rolls into USC late Monday night in a game featuring two teams who have played a tune-up game but little else in common. The Huskers bring in an experienced squad to face a Trojan squad who returns little of the NCAA tournament team from last year. In fact, if you were going to ask any players for directions to the beach, you might want to wait for Los Angeles native Brandon Richardson. Look for the senior to improve upon his 5 point showing the last time he played in front of the home crowd.
Best Case Scenario - Nebraska shuts down Jones and fouls out Dedmon. USC continues with their 3 pt shooting woes (they were 0-15 in the first game) and Brandon Richardson turns the USC crowd to root for Nebraska in some sort of Balboa-Drago way.
Worst Case Scenario - Dedmon has a coming out party and Diaz ends up on a poster. USC shoots lights out from the 3. A frustrated Doc Sadler copes by eating nachos and totally blowing his diet in the second half as the Trojans blow us away. (Doc has noticeably dropped a lot of weight this year)
Likely outcome - USC and Nebraska play a defensive/ugly game where the Huskers end up with nice road win 65-58.
Opposing players to watch: Maurice Jones
USC had a rough time with an undersized CS Northridge team in their opener where no one could buy a basket. The 5-7 Jones willed his team to the win by forcing his way to the free throw line. If the Huskers can shut down this undersized point guard, it's going to be a long game for the Trojans.
Opposing players to watch: Dewayne Dedmon
Due to religious reasons, Dedmon wasn't allowed to play organized sports until he was 18. (He's still not allowed by his mother) The reason that a guy who probably has played less than 100 official basketball games in his life is such a factor and a NBA prospect is the fact that he is a physical freak of nature. (He is the second fastest player on the team behind Jones) It will be interesting to see who Doc uses to try and match up with Dedmon....it could be someone like Toney McCray or Caleb Walker.

Other takes
-
Brian Rosenthal talks to Doc about the early road game on page 5 of 6 of the Lincoln Journal Star sports page. Why not page 6? That's where the giant poster of Will Compton goes.
- The official Trojan site notes that USC has only started 2-0 twice in the last ten years. Knock on Wood.
- Nebraska is 2-11 vs non-conference road games in the Doc Sadler era. Andre and Rey are still playing the redshirt game.
