Player to watch: Toney McCray
Toney McCray has overcome several injuries to play some of the best basketball of his career in 2011-12. He comes into the matchup with Iowa ranking second on the team in both scoring (9.8 ppg) and rebounding (4.5 rpg) and has been in double figures 13 times. After serving as a backup in his first two seasons at Nebraska, he ranked among the Big 12 leaders in 3-point percentage and steals as a junior, including a career-high 23 points at Baylor.
- Opposing player to watch: Brandon Richardson
- Brandon Richardson has been a regular in the lineup for the past four seasons and is expected to make his 70th career start on Wednesday. He has played 116 games in his Husker career and ranks in the top 10 in school history in career steals (141, ninth) and free throw percentage (82.5, third). This season, Richardson ranks in the top 10 in the Big Ten in steals (1.9, third) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8, sixth). In the first matchup with Iowa on Jan. 26, he had a career-high 25 points, including six 3-pointers, en route to becoming the first Husker to be named Big Ten Player of the Week.
Player to watch: Bo Spencer
Bo Spencer has made the most of his season at Nebraska after transferring from LSU, ranking among the Big Ten leaders in scoring (15.1 ppg), assists (3.4 apg) and 3-pointers per game (1.9). He has seven 20-point games, including a career-high 29 points against Creighton and his scoring average is the highest by a Husker guard since the 2004-05 season.
Player to watch: Caleb Walker
Caleb Walker has been a starter in the Husker lineup in both of his seasons at Nebraska. As a junior, he led Nebraska in rebounding (4.5 rpg), including three games with at least 10 rebounds. This season, he has started 26 games and is 6.6 points per game. He has been in double figures six times, including a career high 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting against Rhode Island.
It's Senior Day
The season hasn't quite turned out like we might have hoped but there is always a chance for redemption on Senior night. Iowa brings in the sort of no-defense, no-big man type of team and style that should at the very least make it a fun game to watch and should give our four seniors a great chance to go home with the W.
Prediction: Huskers 68 - Iowa 64
