A lot of players struggled, but Clark got exposed defensively today.

Maybe could be shared by several...most were exposed for poor defense....poor intensity.  Nat wasn't exactly covering her "man"...she kept losing her, and they scored several threes on Nat's not covering her responsibility defensively. but,,,Nat wasn't the only one.

But they must all share the "funk" they're in now.  Not much fire in the belly ...as the expression goes. Lots of frowns going around.

Rachel T has lost her shot....major slump. When your team "anchor" Sr. point guard is struggling. She really looks unhappy out there.  ......That's contagious unfortunately

They just have to work their way out of it. Certainly not easy to fix.

Anya wasn't having any of the refs BS...good for her. Esther came in and did pretty well. Allie had some good moments....everyone did, but just not consistently on both ends.

Refs..... just not consistent on both ends. They crash our girls... no foul....and we breath heavy and it's a foul.

Sink or swim now. Uphill battle...whatever other expressions can you think of.

There were a couple times where a Northwestern girl was practically laying on Anya's back and no foul was called. Still, not the difference in the game. In the end, we had about the same shooting percentage. Their points off our turnovers killed us.

Pretty big eye opener for people I would think.  We definitely miss last years experience and toughness and quickness.  I had hoped for middle of the pack this year but that's going to be a reach I think.

Definitely young and we will get better, but I have to wonder if losing a coach with obvious enthusiasm  may be playing a part also?   Also need to get some people healthy (Blackburn, Simon, Theriot?)  That would help a bunch.

Wow! I'm going to chalk this up to just luck of the draw that we to had to face a ticked-off top twenty five conference member on their home court after they lost their previous outing in which they were the favorite.

You just had that uneasy feeling coming in to the game that they were going to be fired up, focused and ready to prove their previous loss shouldn't have happened. And that they were going to take their frustrations out on us.

Hope we don't find ourselves in that predicament again for quite some time!

Wait....

What........

Oh,...crap!... :o

yes, this game could get ugly fast. that's why i thought it was very important for this team to have good showings against iowa and northwestern. yes, the iowa game turned out to be close, but, it didn't lower any of the flags.

it really appears to me this team is going to struggle with "uptempo" squads. would be interesting to know if rachel is struggling with that foot, or, if it's something else. hopefully, maddie can get a "good-to-go" signal soon so huskers can get a little more depth---or, maybe work her way into the lineup.

My daughter noticed earlier in the season that Rachel T didn't look like she was enjoying herself much, and seemed really annoyed.  I thought maybe it was injury related, but now that Yori has said they are a poor practice team, I wonder if she is truly annoyed by what is happening.

I was wrong…  Completely wrong.  I thought the team was better.  They seemed flat.  Not looking forward to MD.

I watched the game and thought we were shooting terribly; however, the stats say we were shooting at the same percentage as NW.  The numbers say that the loss was a function of possessions/turnovers. A lack of hustle would seem to also play a role.

Field Goal %:  NW:  35.6%; NU:  35.3%

3 Point %:  NW:  44.4%; NU:  42.9%

Free Throw %:  NW:  78.6%; NU:  72.7%

Turnovers:  NW:  10; NU: 19

Steals:  NW:  15; NU:  3

The team seems to have developed a some what "dysfunctional" personality.... after a good start this season.

Good teams seem to have their own personality, manifested in how they function and play.

If Rachel T is unhappy about its progress....she as the senior leader...needs to exercise her influence on all the other players.....can she?

Time for a team meeting...players only ?

Just guessing .....wishing for a fix to the "flat" play.

I believe they will come back!  We Know what they Can Do; Look no further than the Creighton game.  All teams have bad games, now and then, or where they are just not 'on' (such as the California game), especially when several key players are missing or not 100 percent.

Serendipity!

I’m with Red Don…  We have to come back.  However, turnovers are often directly related to the decision making process, and fixing poor decision making can be a difficult task.  I’m not sure the comeback begins on Thursday.  I hope so…  I plan on being in College Park to watch.

Regarding whoopdeedoo’s leadership article.  It’s a nice read.

I try to only comment on my girl.  I’m not sure who the leaders are on the team.  I know my girl says she is sometimes reluctant to say things in practice or in meetings due to being a freshman.  That will not be the case next year.  On the court she has yelled at mates for not getting on the floor for a loose ball.

I’d agree with most of the premise:  "...Leaders are made not born... People can become leaders through the process of teaching, learning, and observation. Leadership is a set of skills that can be learned by training, perception, practice, and experience..."

Setting an example is also important.  The old saying of...  "If you're going to talk the talk, you need to walk the talk." is how good leaders live.

I do believe that a person is born with that “it” factor (charisma).
