Couldn't figure out how to embed, but here's a link

Figured this would be a good way to "out" myself as a current UNL student to you all. If we win the school gets $25k and we get featured in in Macy's ads, commercials etc. Award goes to three schools

Apologizing in advance Dimes for the shameless plugging, but 25k is 25k

So what is the male part above tenor called?  Contralto?

The Asian dude has a great voice, followed by the tall, kind of heavyset kid.  Mr. Contralto with the long hair was a bit pitchy at times going flat in some of the higher parts of his register.  Like the "Oh" part of "Oh, baby give me one more chance."  He seemed consistently flat on that note.

Otherwise, he seems to get good elevation.  Decent range.  Just needs to bring his elbow in a bit and make sure to complete his follow-through.

Sorry, years of bullying at the Underground has left me a bit scarred :( haha only kidding.

Male part above tenor is called countertenor. Contralto conversely is the lowest women voice. This sorta style isn't my vocation, I'm at the U right now studying opera but stuff like this is a lot of fun

Great stuff, Bleujay.   Well done, and thanks for posting.  FWIW, my daughter is a music education major at UNL (instrumental emphasis).  None of her talent came from dad.

Good luck with this contest, and in the future.  And take advantage of your student days and get to PBA to cheer on the Huskers!   :)

Not bad, bleujay!

I've been listening to acapella for a number of years now...there's just something about it I dig...but there's a lot of it I don't like.  Honestly, I hate PTX...they don't work for me.

But within the past few years I've had the pleasure to meet, hang out with, and sing a bit with m-pact (from California) and the King's Singers.  Doesn't get much better than those guys!

Good luck, bleu!  Thanks for sharing!

Didn't know if you were aware but Matthew Oltman (Music Director/singer of Chanticleer) is currently doing Doctoral work in Music at the University. He was at a house party of mine a couple of weeks ago. It was an interesting moment in my career as a musician. How did you get in touch with King's Singers?

I was a board member for the Marshall County Arts Cooperative for four years.  We brought in m-pact, Turtle Island Quartet, Dallas Brass, (Canadian Brass this year, though I'm no longer on the board), and King's Singers.

Also had Matt Alber (who was in Chanticleer for a while, as well as m-pact), and Matt White (the dude who did the "Love" song on the McRib commercial a few years back) make visits to lead 5-7th grade choir clinics.  I think they're looking to maybe bring in the Swingle Singers sometime soon, which would be pretty darn cool.  Not sure if that will happen, though.

Swingle Singers?  Sounds like a group that should serenade the Shim-Sham dancers.  I'm sure the Shim-Shams would be happy to come and perform a routine while the Swingles sing.
