I've often wondered why a coach would recruit someone who is not a proven scorer. It is basketball, after all. If it were me, I would go ahead and recruit someone who was at least 6'7" and still learning their touch and scoring ability, but I wouldn't give a break to anyone else. And I would want some speed. But that's just me. I think it is exciting to watch teams like Maryland and OSU.

Iowa plays a fun style of basketball.  Ohio St. v Iowa in the semis would be a heck of a game.  That being said, NU, providing we can get by Illinois, matches up better with Iowa than OSU.  Tournament time is all about match-ups.

imo, the thing OSU has over Iowa is defense. the Iowa games i watched on BTN this year, offense was good, but not impressed with their defense.

Lately....OSU had been running most other teams into the ground with their athletism and quickness....speed, and can shoot to go with it..

We and most other B1G teams have the same problem .....can't keep up.

Well I got to meet clay counties finest just now. two block from home and he nails me for speeding. any It could be a OSU and Maryland match up in the finals. The one thing that will hurt OSU is only having 7 players.

I believe that's what it's coming down to. I'm in favor of giving Shimmy the reigns to recruiting and go get a couple of tall, fast, athletic big girls to combat the way the league will be changing for the future.

Don't forget . . . real shooters who can get it done consistently from beyond the arc, as well as midrange. Not the streaky type.  And will take pride in their play on both sides of the ball. Is that too much to ask?

.i know in an earlier post, i gave my top 3 for going into next year---had Maryland on top, then minny, and OSU. i think it would be wise to flip minny and OSU. man, OSU will be tough for awhile. just like Maryland. i do still think minny will have a chance to be pretty darn good with one caveat---as long as Banham returns as good as she was before the injury.

I'd be stunned if Minnesota was top 3. No Shae Kelley.

NW, I'd say.

I think not only is the B1G is changing, (it already has really) but womens Bball is changing to the same types as mens.....big, tall players that can run, and ....score.

It won't be long where women players under 6' ...will be rare.

If I were a college bball coach, I'd do the same thing the OSU coach said....recruit only scorers. Then teach them to play defense.

Sam you don't think Banham can replace Kelly?

No doubt, NW will be very good also. i'd have to check stats, but, don't think kelley really picked up her play till just recently. at least i didn't hear much about her till lately. going into next year, i'll still stick with minny at 3rd. should have a fantastic inside/out game.

just a little sidenote: i noticed Directv has WatchEspn now, so, was checking it out on my phone. looked in on the start of the Iowa State vs Kansas women's game. Iowa State started no one above 5' 11". didn't think i would see a DI team that didn't start someone at least 6' anymore.
