Dug ourselves to deep a hole to climb out of the first half. Good comeback but you gotta score more than 12 points the first half.

Emily & Hailie both with 4 points, that won't cut it going forward.

I was shocked at Nebraska's performance in the early parts of the game.  I am really concerned about their offense.  The defense played okay, and there was that nice rally, but it was too-little-too-late.

the way things have developed, (and i say this with all respect to Ana Kalenta) her not seeing any time, for how long now? it speaks volumes to me. evidently there is the belief she can't help the team. listening to coach yori a couple weeks ago, when she was asked about Kalenta, i could tell in her voice she was careful of her words. just my opinion. not saying she couldn't develop enough to get some minutes next year, but, sure looks like a bust for this season. and that surprises me, although i can only go by the couple times i saw her play. i thought she may give the huskers some good minutes.

We just don't seem have much offensive athleticism inside.  Based on last nights game it looks like we desperately need inside help (forgetting the poor outside shooting for now).....why not use a 6-3 player...at least give her a couple of min. to see if she might be able to help?  Not saying Kalenta is the answer, but against NW anyway....we needed help, and she collecting splinters on the bench.

 

NW had a couple of girls that had decent "games" around the paint. We couldn't stop them. Overall they had a good scrappy defense too.

 

It's going to be a long..... rest of the season, but we got some time to get develope our game and get some more wins. We've got to get... 20 wins.

We absolutely have to win at Indiana.  Minnesota is going to be a tough game, we have zero room for error there.  I think we will have all sorts of trouble with Ohio State, zero room for error with them, too.  We have to hit shots.  I thought I heard Connie say post-game that there isn't a lot of practice right now with the game schedule.  If they do one thing, they need to shoot, shoot, shoot. 

 

Worst case - we lose at least two of those games.  Not sure if we still wind up in the NCAA tourney but, if not, then the NIT would be fine and would give some of our younger players an opportunity to play more.  We would probably win a few of those NIT games.  My concern is that we may not win a single NCAA tourney game with the way things are going.  Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer.

unfortunately, i understand your comments, huskerchode. almost everything good that has come to this team has been a real battle. i am beginning to wonder if we are now seeing results of that. it seems like they may be running on fumes.

I am just amazed that Kalenta being a JUCO transfer averaging 20pts a game can't be trusted in a division 1 game. I feel like she would be good on the inside plus her outside shooting. I am just confused because the times she did play this year I felt like she did good.

 

If Chandler smith could start hitting some shots that would be nice because I don't think she has made many shots that she has taken this year. We are basically relying on T and Romero for all the points right now and that just aint good enough.

 

I think Cady needs to be more aggressive when she gets the ball at the high post and try to drive to the basketball and get fouls. I know she can do it. I just think lately she is more looking to pass to a 3 point shooter than get to the basket for herself.

Chandler Smith is shooting .231% from the floor, 2-18 from 3pt for .111% and is 3-9 from the free throw line for .33%

not good. probably won't see much improvement this season. while i like her movement on the floor, she seems very natural out there, her court awareness needs to improve. a couple of those drives against wisconsin had me scratching my head. she should have realized she wasn't going to be able to put the ball up. should have looked to kick it back out. don't think she has adjusted well, so far, to the college game.
