Not sure what the date has to do with anything as this was after Tressel's time at OSU.  With that said, I don't think TO is a liar and I take his opinion on Tressel as face value.  Who knows if he is the guy...if he is, I'll be pretty excited about the direction of the program.

Wouldn't want to make a hire just to achieve national relevance, and just become a mercenary department.  Just like I wouldn't want to win more games at any cost.  It's about More Than Winning.  And hiring HT would be so contrary to the department's mission statement and the only criteria for the new coach set out by SE in his press conference that there is no way he could do it.  After his comments yesterday, it would break new ground in hypocrisy.

Misread your first post. I actually agreed with the Pelini hire.  With that said...this wouldn't be a Solich or a Pelini.  This would be a HC that has won 6 Big Ten titles and a National Title.  So needless to say he has got it done...and then some.  My guess is Silver was more so talking about Tressel's issues at Ohio St rather than his ability to coach.  That's why I posted what I did.

So warren is going to be the new head coach, he isn't even a DC.

I have heard anywhere from two to four coaches...ultimate decision though should be that of the head coach.  But perhaps the head coach is already retained, and simply not announced at this point.

I thought it was funny how the regents commented they didn't know beforehand (or had a chance to leak the firing of Pelini before it happened) I'd expect the hiring of the new coach to also not have a bunch of lead time.  So far I've been happy with how we've handled the transition.
