Bad things happen to good people:

"Isaiah Austin left Baylor to declare for this year's NBA Draft, but his basketball career will sadly end there. The center was diagnosed with a genetic disorder that won't allow him to continue playing basketball.

Genetic testing for the draft discovered that Austin had Marfan syndrome, a disorder that affects connective tissue in the body. . . . basically, if Austin's heart experienced the rigors of an NBA season, he could die. He can no longer play basketball competitively."

Isn't he blind in one eye too?

Tragic news, you can't help but feel bad for the kid.

Yes, he is.

This has got to be hard on the kid...four days out from the draft.  Damn.

I would be shocked if Baylor doesn't help him out in finishing his degree.  In fact they could probably pay him a stipend to help out with expenses if necessary.

In a class move, commissioner Adam Silver drafts Isaiah on behalf of the NBA in-between spots 15 and 16.  I suppose that keeps him from being a lottery pick, but classy move nonetheless.  Congratulations young man, your dream of being drafted into the NBA has just come true!
