I had talked to a Minnesota fan at the BIG 10 Tourney, And ask him if Borton was on the hot seat as I had heard and he said that she was. But he thought that since they had been on winning streak to make it  8-8 in the conference that she had 1 more year. But I guess the AD had other ideas.

A very attractive job for those looking.   Hopefully Smallwood isn't one of them.  Always easier to come into a place with talent on the squad, as opposed to what Yori and Miles faced.

I think Minnesota goes for an already established head coach. Sounds like they have money wearing a hole in their pocket.

Here's some of who I've read.

Jody Adams - Wichita St

Aaron Johnson - South Dakota St

Jim Flanery - Creighton

Jim Foster - UT Chattanooga

Joe Tartamella - St. Johns

Bonnie Hendrickson - KU

I even read they might try and make a run at Iowa State's Bill Fennelly

They'd better off with Johnson out of any of those. He recruits the state and he's known as a skilled coach.

Nebraska might have had a little more talent than Minnesota this year, but not much. Borton got very little out of them.

The guy at Northwestern, whatever he did at GW, it hasn't translated yet. Lots of talent, but that team needs to make a NCAA Tournament soon. His contract is through 2017. He'll get, I suspect, to 2016, at most.

I'll be curious to see how many more years the Wisconsin coach gets, too. If they stink for a 4th straight year, does she get more time?

Coaches in the women's game are on notice that they will have to produce to keep their jobs.  AD's want programs that can at least break even and hopefully make some money.

Among the coaches being given serious consideration for the vacant Minnesota women’s basketball job are two current head coaches and an assistant, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Wichita State coach Jody Adams, South Dakota State coach Aaron Johnston and Notre Dame assistant Niele Ivey have emerged at the top of the list to replace Pam Borton.

Wichita St coach Jody Adams came out Wednesday and said "she has no interest in the Minnesota job" I suspect that was after Minnesota told her she was out of the running.

South Dakota St coach Aaron Johnston say's he's had no contact with Minnesota but when asked if he was interested in the job he had this reply "No Comment"
