Huskers take on their 3rd opponent in 7 days as the bag of crazy that is the B1G schedule keeps trucking along. Indiana brings in a young, talented and inconsistent team into Lincoln...the type of team featuring young players going to the NBA. Yogi Ferrell is putting up huge numbers, shooting 40% from 3pt range along with getting to the FT line and racking up assist in his spare time. Possible lottery pick Noah Vonleh is averaging nearly a double-double. This team also hasn't scored over 60 points in it's last two games and has won only 1 of the 4 true away games it has played. (Beat Penn St on the road) It's tough to put up 35 points and not have people notice in this league. Petteway, much like Yogi Ferrell, is officially on the "stop this guy first" list for B1G teams. Petteway isn't always going to stay out of foul trouble and possibly could be looking at double teams. Who is the Husker that provides the scoring punch with Deverell Biggs no longer on the team? Hopefully the Huskers take a team approach and simply roll with the hot hand...it's much harder to take away a player when you don't know who to take away. Indiana is a fast break, foul shooting sort of team. The Huskers can run with them but if you make them run an offense they're going to have trouble scoring. The Huskers need to weather any Indiana runs and simply keep believing in themselves...shots will fall, the crowd will cheer, and at the end of the day we have a good shot of seeing Nebraska's first 2 game conference winning streak. Prediction: Nebraska 74 - Indiana 68 with a 94% chance of Runzas Click here to view the article tcp 1 Quote
HB Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Good review as always, Dimes. Pitchford will be a key tonight, on both ends. Need a big game out of him. Quote
doc1394 Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 I tried posting this on twitter, but I couldn't get it under 140 characters. The last time before Sunday that the Huskers played Minnesota at home we won the game and stormed the court. We ended up winning on Sunday. The last time we played Indiana at home? We won and stormed the court..... Go Huskers!!!! Quote

49r Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Indiana vs. Nebraska: Full Homersota Preview http://www.crimsonquarry.com/2014/1/30/5359436/indiana-vs-nebraska-full-homersota-preview My completely biased, barely researched analysis: Nebraska's only home loss this season was by 1 point to Michigan, aka the team currently leading the conference right now. Then again, they've also lost at Penn State and at Purdue. Then again, we lost at home to Northwestern. Then again, we beat Penn State at Penn State. So, hopefully, we have enough talent and maturity to get the victory. However, in this year's Big Ten, just about anything is possible. hhcmatt 1 Quote
49r Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Hoosiers Take on Nebraska and Their 9-1 Home Record http://www.crimsonquarry.com/2014/1/30/5360856/hoosiers-take-on-nebraska-and-their-9-1-home-record Ohio State and Wisconsin dropped games last night to arguably the two worst teams in the conference, and set the Hoosiers up to truly make a lot of noise with a victory tonight. However, the Nebraska Huskers very much stand in Indiana's way. Tim Miles and his version of Nebrasketball have defended their home court almost flawlessly. The one blemish coming on a layup rolling around the rim and falling short in a 1 point home loss to Michigan. Nebraska isn't the pushover everyone expected them to be when they came into the conference. Now sitting at #74 in Pomeroy's rankings, they're a 3 point favorite tonight according to the stats guru's numbers. Quote
