If Creighton was still in the MVC, I'd wager the MVC would be ranked as high or above the NBE as a conference.

You have paid zero attention to how bad the MVC is this year if you are making that statement.  There are seven teams in that league outside of the top 100 rpi while the Big East has seven in the top 100.  The Big East has the second most top 100 wins ranking just behind the ACC, which, by the way, has five more teams.

There isn't a metric out there that will tell you that the Big East isn't one of the top five basketball conferences this year other than someone with a bias trying to start some junk on a message board.

What website are you using? CBSSports.com says the Big Ten has 30 top 100 wins, while the Big East has 21.

Top 25 record: Big East 2-13, Big Ten 5-13

26-50 record: Big East 6-8, Big Ten 6-2

51-100 record: Big East 13-4, Big Ten 19-8

Total: Big East 21-25, Big Ten 30-23

It was a tweet I saw, I'll see if I can dig it up.

I don't mind talking Creighton like some apparently do.  But we have the college hoops board to do it on rather than our main board, so no one really should complain about us talking Creighton over here.  It's nice that no one here will seriously question my Husker fan bona fides just because I'm willing to discuss another D1 program in this state.  So ...

Bottom line:  Creighton in the MVC makes the MVC a tough conference this year with two legit Sweet 16 caliber teams.  But the Big East is better for Creighton long term for any number of reasons and it made as much sense for Creighton to jump to the NBE as it did for us to move over to the B1G.

I'm happy for Creighton.  Hope their fans are enjoying the ride.  Love that McDermott kid.  Love the way he plays the game.  Maybe not the greatest athlete but hoops IQ through the roof.  Which enables him to get it done.  Reminds me of a poor man's Larry Legend (speaking of the MVC).  Seeing them having success doesn't make me feel threatened at all.

(it's easy for me to be gracious like this when I look at their roster and see what they have returning for next year.  :D )

Well said, Norm. It will be interesting to see how Creighton fares in the next few years. I'm sure Butler fans 1-2 years ago never would have thought that they wouldn't be able to compete in a major conference. They're not doing so hot right now. Creighton has a lot more resources than Butler, but Butler did also go to back-to-back National Championship games. That was just 2 seasons ago (crazy).

Holy smokes. Creighton fans saying that we consider Biggs a savior for our program. If that isn't delusional I am not sure what is.

Yep..our savior who had 1 season left. Meanwhile our sophomore put up 35 last night but he's no D Biggs.

Holy moly.  You talk about some flat out crazy individuals over there.  Now the Biggs situation is getting compared to Sandusky at Penn St.  Yep, seriously I am not kidding.  It is like a bad train wreck of stupidity.  I cannot help but look for entertainment value.

Here is the quote from this epic moron.

"lot of interesting parallels btw the cult like behavior and institutional blindness that allowed sandusky to do what he did at penn state.

i don't doubt for a second that the same thing could happen in lincoln as the same mentality exists there."

And everyone who posted after called him out and said he was incredibly wrong.

I don't mind the talk.  I mind the amount of moderation that comes with it.

No, Dimes, I understand YOUR concern about it.  I was talking about others who jump into a thread to say why are we talking about this?  So, I've moved all of my discussion about Creighton over here so that none of the people bothered by it over on the main board would have to wade through it if they don't want.

Reviewing things, though, this thread has kind of run its course, unfortunately.  With the injury to Gibbs, he's not out there playing his role of Defenseman protecting the goalie.  And now we've drifted off topic a bit.  It wouldn't bother me in the least, therefore, even as the thread starter, to see this one locked down and put to bed.
