Barfknecht's been doing work lately... Pretty sure Lee copied and pasted those names straight from our recruiting database hhcmatt and 49r 2 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 A couple of take aways to me: * Nebraska currently has two scholarships available for 2014. Miles said the plan is for both to go to big men. * Foreign players also could be in the mix. Miles said he visited Australia (Sydney and Melbourne) in his July recruiting travels. In a three-week stretch, Miles hit Indianapolis, Dallas, Augusta, Ga., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Dallas, Sydney, Melbourne and Las Vegas. Quote

Interesting that Miles says both scholarships are going to big men for next year when yesterday and now today we hear of Nebraska contacting 2014 guards. Maybe just covering their bases? I know Miles can't really say that we are going to over sign even though that is what I expect to see.@RobinWashut: #Nebrasketball MT @RyanJamesMN: 2014 Osseo (MN) guard Wheeler Baker is getting calls from Washington St., South Carolina and Nebraska @RobinWashut: #Nebrasketball is now showing interest in 2014 Putnam City (Okla.) West PG Omega Harris (@omegaharris5) http://t.co/jRQD9CvrjF I expect a guard signed in the spring IMO. I do expect two bigs signed this fall and some chips to fall over the year that has someone looking at leaving which opens the door and these guys are ones you might expect to wait on offers during their year as they both seem to be guys team will wait to see how they progress over the season. The Coach Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 I'd be thrilled with Wacker and Miller. Wacker is old-school with great fundamentals, Miller is strong and athletic. They would complement each other well. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 I also like the Wacker kid. Seems to be kind of a Ubel type of player with maybe more game. But, when ever we have been any good we have had at least one of these types of kid. The one willing to do what it takes and not get much in return. Maybe not the most talented but has the "it" factor. Quote
Tallbaby21 Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 If we can get a back court with the names Wheeler and Omega we probably have to do it and skip the big guys. hhcmatt 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 I'll feel more comfortable with the assessment of seeing progress on the recruiting trail when we get a couple of commits for this '14 class. The last significant news that sticks out in my mind is a couple of recruits' lists we were on getting larger and a couple of other lists we were on getting smaller -- by eliminating us. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding. (I don't know who "they" are or why they put the proof in the pudding, but it's probably a British thing, so go figure.) Quote

Norm Peterson Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 I was being glib. I always understood the phrase to mean that the efforts are judged by the results. You could substitute "outcome" for "pudding" in the phrase and get the meaning more clearly, perhaps. But that's the way I've always used the phrase. And, as it relates to recruiting, the proof of whether your recruiting efforts are seeing "pretty good progress" is in the class you sign in the fall. Another way of describing it is "show me the money." Quote

Apparently I read your post incorrectly. Quote

A solid foundation is built with hard work, a step at a time and it requires patience. Quick fixes often result in NCAA sanctions. TM is doing the hard work...all we need to do is to be (a little) patient and then a kid that has had TM on him for a couple years will see the wisdom of being a Husker...if not the below...somebody with a similar attitude, and 4 stars or more stars. Notice his use of "WE". Quote

I believe the "We on the uprise" is a statement by the question asker, not part of Gilmore's answer. Quote
