Schools across the country are building facilities such as the one Creighton plans, and some are extravagant in what they offer. Rasmussen said his goal is to provide things that might be attractive to potential student-athletes but not at the expense of more practical features.

“We've looked at a lot of other facilities,” Rasmussen said. “A lot of the extras you see, the things that provide a ‘wow factor,' aren't necessary for a coach to conduct a practice. But they do set you apart, and we're certainly taking a look at those things.

“But we're looking at it from what adds quality. I doubt if we'll have an iPad in every locker, but we're going to make certain the athletic learning center has quality study areas and equipment. In the gym, we'll make sure we do a good job with lighting and video capabilities in addition to recognizing the history of Creighton basketball.

“Those are things that can set us apart and make a statement about what we think is important.”

In that regard, Rasmussen said, the new facility will provide prospective recruits in all sports a sense that Creighton is committed to their total college experience. The weight room and athletic training areas are important in what he calls prehab and rehab in injury prevention and treatment. The academic learning center will provide for the educational needs.

“I would rather put a quarter of a million dollars into an underwater treadmill than that same amount in iPods and flat-screen TVs,” he said. “That would be a statement as to what's important for us.”

Did you notice that NU fans weren't up in arms about Raz kind of mocking our IPOD's and all the flat screens we have? You know Jays fans would spin this 1,000 different directions about how we are mocking the Jays, blah, blah, blah.

Creighton fans suck....Most, if not all of them , that are in attendance on a Sunday afternoon basketball game at the CLINK were wearing a red Husker shirt on Saturday cheering for the football team. Creighton fans are there for the social aspect of the game. But I do envy them for being able to have a cold one while watching a basketball game. It would be nice to have that option. Maybe we will since T.O. is out the door. Time to think in terms of what the new "normal" is when going to watch a sporting event. I'm not saying that you have to drink 6 drinks, but it is nice to relax with a drink and cheer on your team. Just my opinion.

If you are even remotely comparing NU football fans to Jays fans then we have some serious issues with you. 85,000+ at EVERY NU football game and you think the majority are Jays fans? Is there any way to have any and all posts with the word "Creighton" ignored? It's not that I have anything against them, I just don't understand the hate from either side and I grow tired of having to filter through it when I'm here.

My hatred came about when two different things happened.

1) the year that Creighton had an RPI of like 5 and we played them at the Bob, this drunk Creighton fan wanted to fight me because I was just some "stupid farmer" I was a 32 year old 2nd grade teacher at the time.

Just laughed it off until a few years later we once again beat the Jays and this kids screams at us as he is leaving at the 5:00 min. mark. "We just lost to a bunch of F***ing HICKS"

Just could like them any more after that. Guess I'm just a hayseed born and raised in that small town of Lincoln.
