I call BS on this statement.  The men's practice team for the Husker women are all 6'0" to 6'5" and they are picked for their basketball skills.  They all  played hoops at a high level in high school and they cannot keep up with the women's first team.  In fact Lindsey Moore likes to go to the rec center early in the school yeaar before they know who she is  and school the boys.  Now Griner is not NBA good, but D-1 women hoops players are a hell of a lot better than you think they are.

Things have changed then.  When I was in school, they just selected a frat and that frat dominated.

 

I concur.  It happens at every major college.  Pat Summit regularly said the best team they'd face all year were the guys they played in practice and they were all just former HS players.

 

 

 In fact when people make their claims about HS vs. college I know Central would beat the NU women.

Thing is, this discussion (not ours, but Mark Cuban's) diminishes Brittney Griner in a way that is unfair to her and sadly she appears to have gotten sucked into it when she tweeted that she could hang. Hopefully, she was just joking. If not, she needs to try her hand at hanging with the Baylor men's team before she tries to bite off a piece of the NBA.

And whoever said Central beats the Husker women is also right. And the guys I've seen practice against the nu women weren't high level players and weren't getting schooled by any stretch.

Well, rec center, sure.  I mean, Lindsey has some skills, no question about it.  I think she's a terrific player.  I could see her schooling guys playing pickup games over at the rec center.  I used to get in on a lot of those games back when I was in college and some of the guys played ball pretty well; others did not.  IIRC, intramurals at the U had different levels, right?  So, the A league was for the best players and it went down from there.  Lindsey might be able to *hang* with guys in the A league but she's not going to school any of them.

 

Occasionally, I got involved in some pickup volleyball games over at the rec center with some of the women on the volleyball team.  Just to give you an idea, I was NOT a D1 athlete.  Not remotely.  And here are among the most elite D1 female athletes in the country who are my size.  And they're going through all the conditioning and weight training and all the rest of it, right?  While I'm just getting fat.  And I was still able to dunk their volleyball while they couldn't touch the rim.  And these are among the best female athletes in their sport in the nation ... and I'm just an average Joe.

She does have the voice of a man. Did tell you guys that while at the Big 12 women's Basketball  conference tourney that she sat in front of me in the team staging area. And that I spoke to her while she was sitting there. Man what a man voice.

So you were a white guy that could jump
