With the weather improving, my brackets decimated and Nebraska teams out of the postseason, it will be more difficult to justify parking my butt on the couch again for another weekend to my spouse. Nevertheless I have come up with compelling reasons to do so . Feel free to add any of your own. !. With my alma mater still alive, my number one pick still can win it all. And wouldn't it be nice to see Doc cutting off a piece of the net as the credits roll? 2. How bizarre would it be to see four teams from the same conference in the final four? The old Big East got three in one year, but four would be something. Then we could always claim we were the best of the worst of the best. 3. I love underdogs, and how does Florida Gulf Coast, NCAA Champion 2013 sound?

There are tons of very compelling matchups in the sweet 16.  First, it's a veritable who's who of college basketball royalty with Kansas, Michigan, Duke, Michigan State, Arizona, Ohio State, Indiana and Syracuse in there.  Heck even Florida and Marquette are no slouches.

You have Indiana - Syracuse, a rematch of the 87 championship...one of the best games ever played.

The Midwest region is stupid, with Louisville, Oregon, MSU and Duke.  Should be excellent.

The Wichita State/La Salle winner with a legit shot at a final 4 berth?

And of course, how can you NOT want to watch FGCU?  They ACTUALLY play the style of ball that every other coach pretends to want to play when they're recruiting 4 start point guards out of South Sioux.  (sorry, Norm)  :)

For bonus points on this topic: Anyone who can answer these followup questions without looking it up should get a jar of Cip salsa. Right Cip?  Cip??  1. Who was the star player for LaSalle when they won the NCAA. ( This is the first one I remember listening to on the radio.)? 2. What was the fourth team in the final four the year the Big East had three teams make it? 3. What star player for KU was born in Ft. Meyers (home of Fla.G.C.)?

Last time LaSalle had a good team (not a title team, but a good one nonetheless) their star player was the "L Train," Lionel Simmons.

Wrong on both accounts (and wrong in many ways on Barry, unless you meant Rick). So you don't win any of your own salsa. Keep trying-surely someone will get at least one of these elementary questions. And by the way, I just heard Danny Manning was going to be the next coach at Minnesota.

Since no one made much of an attempt to answer my questions, I'll give you the answers now. 1. Tom Gola 2. Memphis State 3. Walt Wesley. Grade D for effort. These weren't that hard.

Sorry Jimmy. Before my time.

I'll give you one though. Who is the former La Salle player who won a professional basketball championship, and a league scoring title while playing in Nebraska?
