If anyone is, it's him.

My position is, nobody is.  Sports salaries are absurd and out of control and have been for quite some time.

Compare and contrast I guess.  Many, many salaries are out of control or backwards...actors, athletes, business CEO's, etcetera, seem overpaid; while professions such as teachers are relatively underpaid.

So Self is overpaid; but so too are many other coaches, players and actors.  Self is one of the top college coaches though, so his salary should be there as well.

I think we agree @Huskerpapa.  I didn't mean to imply that it was only Sports salaries that were out of control.  But to address the question at hand, would that $13 million better benefit the citizens of Kansas if it went to fixing potholes or buying new school textbooks instead of paying a basketball coach?   Probably.

Agree...sort of goes hand-in-hand with watching UNL cringe under the pressure of major budget cuts; yet we seemingly have the donations and funding to put a half-billion dollars into a Memorial stadium renovation.

I am a bit ashamed to admit that I favor that renovation.  Equally, I am not opposed to paying high salaries to coaches and players IF exceptional results follow.  At Nebraska pay has not equaled wins.  I guess with Self, they have.

Yeah, we all like nice things and we are all happy when we get new toys or when our favorite team is winning.  But, we don't always like or want what is really important or needed in life.  Guess that's just human nature.
