started reading only to find out that this is the last issue for Hail Varsity. 11 years in print.......subscriber for the majority. i will miss it.

anyway, i digress. a section included was some predictions for Nebraska athletics in the next 10 years. i will get right to the prediction for husker wbb given/written by Drake Keeler.

here are a few excerpts:

Title: Williams Teams Have To Keep Building For New Big Ten

"Whether the Huskers can maintain a respectable program with occasional tournament appearances isn't too hard of a question. That's most likely a yes. But March 2024 will mark 10 years since Nebraska's last tournament win. The ceiling is the uncertain part.

For the upcoming season, a full-health Husker team should find itself in the NCAA Tournament once again, and is capable of ending its drought of tournament wins. While it depends on matchups, going any further than the round of 32 seems unlikely."

"Over the next 10 years, success for Nebraska doesn't mean Final Four appearances. Down the road, if parity in the sport continues to increase, that might not be impossible. For now, though, the ideal future for the program looks like fairly consistent NCAA Tournament appearances, and a breakthrough to the Sweet 16."

"Those things will require continued success in the transfer portal and in-state recruitment-the state currently home to a top-25 prospect in the nation"

"I've spent this section avoiding bold predictions, so I'll end with a few. In the next 10 years, Nebraska makes its third-ever Sweet 16 appearance. The team continues to shoot a bunch of 3s with strong guard play. Shelley records another triple-double. Finally, with so much talent continuing to join the BigTen, and strong support in Nebraska, expect multiple sellout crowds at Pinnacle Bank Arena."

The best we can hope for with the current staff is an occasional high finish in the B1G and an NCAA invite every few years.  We just don’t attract enough top talent.  I just hope we will always be competitive.

If you have top10 facilities, top10 venues and top10 fan support you should expect a top10 program.  Based on what I'm seeing recruiting, we are upticking.  The bad news is so is the rest of the league (Maryland is no more the automatic number one).  So the question really is are we moving ahead of the class or not?  If not we really have to coach the heck out and/or develope the heck out of the team.  Whether this staff is up to the task or not, I'm going to say it's still incomplete.

But no my expectations are I guess much higher than most of the people on this page obviously
