Not to derail the discussion before it began, but Saint Peters lost to Canisius, St. Francis NY, Siena, Stony Brook, Rider and Iona this year. They beat an overrated bunch of mercenaries from Kentucky and then won a close game over a 7 seed. Not sure what conclusions you can draw from their season.

Exactly. Sunday afternoon finals are for conferences that need the attention, like the A-10 and AAC. Or conferences that view everything through $$$$, like the BIG and SEC. Fans would love a Saturday night final.

He was a young phenom, played varsity as a 7th grader, and we offered when he was a freshman or soph. I'd guess redshirting would be tough for someone like that, so not surprised he left. If he really misses being the star, then he'll probably go to an SD school. If he wants to stay high major, but really is homesick, then I'd put our money on us.

That's a better format on paper, but it requires 6 first-round games. Would have to run the first day at 2 sites.

^^^^ This. I watched part of that and all Iowa did was whine, whine, whine. Wasn't surprised at all to find out they lost. btw, the noise at Carver was unbelievable, you could barely hear the announcers.

Big Ten title at the top of the list. That would get you a high seed, which increases your chances of a first-round NCAA win.

Not sure this rumor is much more than someone repeating stories about him being unhappy with his playing time. Worth noting that his family moved to Spokane, so that might make the decision less likely. Jalen Suggs played lots of minutes last year as a freshman, so HS seemed to be slotted for that spot. But the minutes disappeared when they brought in Rasir Bolton from Iowa State and Julian Strawther blew up. Strawther had similar minutes to HS last year, so not sure it's as bleak as it seems.

I know everyone wants Nebraska kids on the roster, but I'd chill on this one. I mentioned seeing Drake's coach watching him at the state tourney but they haven't offered. As far I know, he doesn't have a D-1 offer and just tweeted a couple of weeks ago that Wayne State had offered. Should know more in a few weeks if others are seeing him as a high major D-1 player.

Isn't he also our only coach in the last 22 years who beat the eastern Nebraskans more than once? That counts for something.

The last guy picked in the first round got $4 million guaranteed for the first 2 year, $10 million over 4. Would anybody turn down $4 million guaranteed to play another year here in the hope of moving up the draft board? Next year's class supposedly is much stronger, plus there's the risk of injury.
