2014-15 Husker opponents

Ugh...the Big 10 and Sunday games... Hate games on Sundays. -
I'm happy to hear this. Not everyone has a sense of self awareness and common courtesy. Beer sales could/would attract a different kind of crowd. Plenty of places to get a beer before and after the game. I think everyone will be fine not being able to drink for two hours.

Season Ticket Renewals
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to HuskerActuary's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Haven't got mine in the mail yet, but the renewal form is now accessible by logging into the online ticket account. I supposed if we want to request an upgrade in seats, we are supposed to make the request on the renewal form? Has anyone spoken to the ticket office about this? I suppose I will call them myself about upgrading but just wanted to check with the folks here first. I have to think there will not be any opportunities to upgrade this year as I can't imagine anyone not renewing their tickets after last season... -
Song you'd like to use for the Highlight intro

Please no more Bon Jovi, Gwen Stefani, or "Space Jam" playing over the PA at Husker bball games. Time to get with the times. -
ESPN 2015 BRACKETOLOGY
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to MichHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
My prediction 11 months out would be the Huskers getting a 5 or 6 seed after spending the majority of the 2014-2015 season ranked in the polls. -
Tickets for next year
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to Silverbacked1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I know in our case my dad sent a nice email to the AD about mid season requesting an upgrade. No clue if we will get it. Thanks Nighthawk. Yeah, it was something that I was meaning to do all season. Then the team caught fire towards the end of the year and I figured I probably waited too long to make my request as demand for tickets has sky rocketed. (Which I'm not complaining about at all. Just happy that I already have season tix and don't have to mess with the waiting list) -
Tickets for next year

How do you go about requesting an upgrade in seats? Can you just call the ticket office, or do you need to stop by there in person to discuss it? -
Look at that vertical! Big time score for the Huskers!

I may be a "newcomer" to this fine board, but man if my opinion counts for anything I can't stress how superior this is to your standard message board. I know that the Huskers strong second half of a season attracted a lot of "Johnny come latelys" and internet tough guys but it's still the best darn board out there. Hard core Nebrasketball fans talking hoops non stop without a lot of the standard message board drivel. I've been a long time lurker as I like to read a lot of boards from time to time, but this is the only one I ever felt eager to join. I too hope that the mods continue to keep this place as a great place to talk Husker hoops and keep the typical trolls at bay.

Nothing to worry about here, as it's pretty standard practice. Every college coach does this for their players that are deemed "NBA caliber". Part of coaching these types of guys is helping them gather information on where they stand in terms of NBA GM's and execs so they can proceed with legitimate information on their draft status, and not declare due to friends and family members telling them they are ready. (Not that this is the case with Petteway, but it unfortunately is for a lot of other guys)

Last Minute of NCAA Tourney Games
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to dskurz's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
My buddy and I were just discussing all of the timeouts that coaches feel the need to take in the last minute of games. What do these teams do in their practices for the 6 months leading up to the tournament? Do they not practice end of game scenarios without having to call a timeout before every possession? Seems like a lot of coaches "over coaching" IMO. The odds of getting a basket seem much higher when they just attack and don't allow the opposition to set up their defense and bring in defensive subs. -

Each team getting 5 timeouts in addition to the tv timeouts every 4 minutes sure doesn't help either. -
Assistant Coaching Vacancy
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to HuskerFever's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I really hope we steer towards a strong "X's and O's" type of guy as I think Miles and Smith were pretty much "co-coaches" in that department. I'm not a big fan of hiring someone just because of AAU connections, besides I thought that is what we brought in Kemba for. If we do go the connections route though, it needs to be someone with strong connections in the blood bath known as Chicago high school basketball recruiting IMO. -
"No-Sit Gameday" 2014-2015 Season
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I have some minor suggestions to improve the Gamenday culture and re-invent this thing. Can we upgrade the music a little bit? Please no more "Space Jam", "This is How We Do It", or Gwen Stefani playing on the PA system? LOL. -
"No-Sit Gameday" 2014-2015 Season
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I like that idea of "No-Sit Senior Day"I also really like the idea of the nonconference "No-Sit Gameday" being Nebraska's Big Ten/ACC challenge game. Especially because, when Nebraska is 4th-ish vs a 4th-ish ACC team, that will be a decent game, with potential to be on TV, maybe ESPN. With Dickie V broadcasting and gushing over Miles and the program to a national audience.... -
The Future will be bright if...
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to BenJammin63's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Great post and analysis of our guys. I for one, think Tai will be just fine. I kind of have a feeling that we are going to see a totally different Tai starting next year that will have us talking throughout the next three years of how much he has come along since being a freshmen. Most college point guards, (outside of phenoms like Ennis or Smart) take some time to learn the college game. I remember watching a freshman Mario Chalmers at KU, not being able to get the ball over half court without turning it over and looking totally overmatched. -
"No-Sit Gameday" 2014-2015 Season
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Back to the original premise of your post, Nebrasketballer, I agree with what you are suggesting. Two "No Sit" campaigns for big games would be pretty cool. I would suggest that we designate "Senior Day" going forward as an annual "No Sit" game every year to ensure we always send our seniors out with a W at PBA. As for non-conference, Creighton or whoever we may be paired with in the ACC challenge would be a good idea. I doubt it will happen in the near future, but man, imagine a "No Sit" campaign with Duke, Carolina, Syracuse, or Louisville coming to town? -
"No-Sit Gameday" 2014-2015 Season
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
This is always a tricky subject for me. I LOVE the passion and atmosphere that our great fans have created at PBA! Also I am a guy in my early 30's and don't feel like acting like a college student anymore. While I love going to the games with a crazy atmosphere, I go first and foremost because I am a diehard basketball fan and love watching basketball played at the highest level. I don't go to "be seen" or to socialize, or to yell at the refs. Its all about enjoying the product on the floor and supporting our Huskers. Heck, I'd pay to watch the teams play each other in an empty gym. (sometimes felt like that at Devaney. LOL!) If the place is rocking, I'm all about joining in, but there is nothing more annoying than "guy who stands the whole time when everyone else is sitting". Totally lack of self awareness and common courtesy. -
Who are you guys rooting for the rest of the way? I'd like to see it come down to a Michigan St vs Michigan title game. Also wouldnt mind seeing Baylor make the Final 4

Finally Not OT: Creighton
Omaha Nebrasketballer replied to hhcdave's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Lost in the midst of all of this laughing at Creighton's "team of a lifetime" flaming out in the tourney, was how awesome Baylor looked. When they play to their talent level there aren't many teams that can beat them. Tough draw for our guys having to play them as a 6 seed. Their talent level is that of a 1 or 2 seed. How the heck did Scott Drew lose so many games in the regular season with this roster? -

Agreed! (Nice profile pice BTW. I had to pull the trigger on the auotgraphed Miles ball as well in the team store. )
