I love how they all think they are "big time" now after joining a watered down mediocre version of what used to be the Big East. High level mid major conference at best that they still couldn't win with their "team of a lifetime".
I enjoyed the ESPN 30 for 30 talking about how great the Big East used to be and how the conference was destroyed by all the good teams leaving and isn't what it used to be. Not one mention of Creighton during the entire documentary.
Great post, great point. I remember being at that game and how hesitant he was to shoot. I also remember him shooting another one after making the first and being way off, but by that point we had made a run and turned the tide of the game. (And season it turned out)
Just amazing how one thing like that and change the big picture so much.
The thing about TP guarding Heslip is that Baylor runs him around quite a bit and sets multiple screens for him on offense. Whoever guards Heslip will exert a ton of energy on D. May need TP to have all the energy he can get for offense. Who guards him then? I think Benny and Ray will pick him up the majority of the time.
I've wondered what Doc has thought of this quick turnaround? Obviously his duties with Iowa State have kept him focused on the Cyclones task at hand, but I'm sure he is happy for his former players and recruits. I'm sure part of him is also jealous (maybe not the right word) that it didn't take Miles long at all to get things turned around. I'm sure Doc is confident in his own coaching abilities and maybe believes he would have made the tourney too with the chance to coach at PBA? I don't think that, but he probably does.
Yeah, I have no idea what he is thinking or what the rumors are, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at "Transfer U" aka Iowa State. Hoiberg has found a recipe for success in getting guys to transfer to Ames for a year or two.
Boy, he sure looks like a perfect fit, huh? I guess a big guy who can score and rebound would be a great fit for anytime (LOL), but he would see more minutes as a Husker than just about anywhere else IMO.
A Nebraska win puts tremendous pressure on CU as they do not want their "dream season" to end at the hands of the Huskers. While they may prefer to play Nebraska over Baylor, playing Nebraska would be a "can't lose" game for them and their fans that may lead to them playing very tight. The majority of them will be pulling for Baylor IMO.
Brady Heslip is as good a 3 point shooter as anyone in the country. Fully capable of hitting 8 or 9 in a game. In my opinion the key is containing them from the perimeter. Austin presents some match up problems as well, but if we limit their 3 point shooting, we win.
If we get to a Creighton match up on Sunday our guys will be able to go out there and let it rip with zero expectations. All the pressure will be on Creighton to not let the Huskers end their "dream season".
