  1. ditto! no reason not to be very proud of her accomplishment, getting as far as she did
  2. http://www.usab.com/news-events/news/2015/05/15-wu16-team-named.aspx
  3. politician showing concerns about illinois, now. illinois receiving criticism of "internal investigation" of wbb. geez, what a freakin' mess. don't see this ending anytime soon. Grusecki's (jacqui grant) concerns go back to 2013. http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2015-05-24/madigan-request-met-killeen.html
  4. may be a stretch, but, the only scenario i can come up with is, that White is Bollant's favorite and was made very obvious throughout the team. therefore, teammates left her out of much of the discussion. still, White had to know about at least some of the allegations. i don't see how EVERYTHING could have been hidden. this is just a head scratcher. IF, ivory crawford makes a comment, should be interesting. i always thought she was a leader of the team.
  5. exactly. i was VERY surprised the White's would even comment---especially at this time. this could really bite them in the a$$!
  6. Is she reading the writing on the wall? I'd say this is a step down. http://host.madison.com/sports/college/basketball/women/badgers-women-s-basketball-assistant-coach-stacy-cantley-leaves-uw/article_7962ed62-6ca7-5d9f-ab54-275d00dc3787.html could very well be right. guess it's called "staying ahead of the game".
  7. i believe there is no way Bollant will survive this-----and he shouldn't. the AD may not survive this either. my gut tells me White waits to see what happens with the head coaching position (a normal reaction). i say that because of past comments she has made about the university. i don't know, at this point, i see her staying at illinois. that situation is a mess---a big, huge, freakin' mess! plus, something i don't have a lot of knowledge in, but could coach yori even accept her?
  8. if this roster can remain healthy and develop good chemistry (within the complete roster), they may offer coach yori versatility she hasn't seen in a while, if ever.
  9. "The committee also recommended teams be allowed to advance the ball to the front court following a timeout called after made baskets in the last 59.9 seconds of the fourth quarter and any overtime periods. Teams also would be allowed to advance the ball to the front court after securing the ball from a rebound or a change of possession and calling a timeout before any advancement of the ball (dribble or pass). In these scenarios, the ball would be inbounded at the 28-foot mark on the side of the court where the scorer’s table is located." don't like it!
  10. my guess: theriot romeo smith havers shepard once the conference schedule begins, it wouldn't surprise me at all not to see much of the senior class (except for theriot, of course). lots of options appear to be at hand. my hope is, someone really steps up and takes much of the weight off theriot's shoulders. from my view, theriot handles the court better under those circumstances. we saw it a number of times while she was playing this season---she made a number of errors that were rare then when she had previous lineups during her freshman and sophomore years. then again, you never know. maybe it won't carry over into her senior season. i noticed one announcer made similar comments during one of nebraska's games i was watching.
  11. going off the top of my head, wiscy should see AT LEAST 7 W's with that schedule. Green Bay usually puts out some pretty good teams---that could be a question mark. Dayton, Florida, and Marquette might fall into that "up in the air" category, also. IMO, even if they have a great preseason, coach's job security will come down to how they compete in the big ten. with Johnson returning (provided rehab goes well), it should help. if wiscy can stay away from too many blowouts, and show improvement throughout the season, she will probably be safe. not sure what the "magic mark" might be, but, i will guess around that .500 mark.

  13. while i welcome a special athlete, when a person has not concentrated on the sport for, what, over 4 years(?), you really do have to wonder just how much she can contribute. i guess i am mirroring what Cazzie22 stated in that post---i, too, hope it all works out for all involved.
  14. wonder if this might close the chapter for 2015? or, does yori really need to add someone? finding a quality player for this level has got to be slim-pickn's at this point (i would guess).
  15. You're right that didn't help her cause, but basically if you think about it their program hasn't improved much at all since she's been there. She received a rollover last year on her contract and Alvarez said this "I think they're a better basketball team." When you inherit a bad program and you’re turning it around,” “the important thing is that you see improvement. I think that I’ve seen improvement." http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/256761071.html What does he mean by "I think"? To me it sounds like he's not for sure and didn't watch their games. Next year will be season 5 for her. And now this year he doesn't see enough improvement? I " think" the thing that saved her is that the Wisconsin athletic administration doesn't care about their women's basketball program. And they've started to look for ways where they can cut costs and it starts with the programs they don't care about. It's evident among their fan support too as they're lucky to get 150-200 in attendance at some of their home games. What it sounds like "attendance" is the main thing and number he's looking at when he says he doesn't see enough improvement. all good points! seems like i had heard somewhere that wiscy was having problems with athletic budget. just think that is a little surprising.
  16. i hope with shimmy leaving, it hasn't put the "kabosh" on her recruitment. i like what i see.
  17. think the only thing that saved her for another year was the injury to Michala Johnson. Wiscy MAY have reached the .500 mark in the Big Ten had she been healthy.
  18. OH MY!
  19. i can understand why sunny left, but, still rather curious as to why shimmy left? i am not "close" to program at all, so, i am looking at things from afar. sunny leaving, shimmy leaving---the "incident" with the page girls. can't help but raise some questions?
  20. http://www.collegefactual.com/rankings/sports/basketball-women/# maybe some of you have seen this. i just stumbled across it today. apologies. didn't get a chance to dig deeper into the site right away. a person can view the top ten, but, then subscribe for a fee to view the rest of the list. lesson learned.
  21. Row6Seat10, i am really not sure it will go away (at least not in my lifetime). many of my acquaintances can't stand females playing basketball. one of my old buddies, who is a head track coach at the DI level truly believes females were not built to play the game of basketball. yet, his one daughter played hs basketball, volleyball, and track/field. (he stated he really sweat it out watching her play basketball, praying for no injury so she could continue her vb goals) and she now plays volleyball at the DI level. he doesn't seem to have a problem with girls competing in volleyball and track & field. so, whatever.
  22. one other name that might be interesting. although, not sure she would consider giving up her head coaching position. former husker and present head coach of USD Coyotes, Amy Williams. listening to her talk and watching her coach, she appears to be pretty high energy.
  23. i think there is a lot of validity to this statement. i am running out of time, so, have to make this quick. read this statement from the Summit League WBB Tourney. yes, i am from SD---been a huge husker football fan for a long time. my sister who lives in nebraska kinda turned me on to other husker programs. fell in love with the way the programs are run---hence, i follow a good majority of husker athletics. whoever thought the Summit League would see this? sd is enjoying a boost in the following of women's college bb, not to mention hs girls bb. i think much of it has to do with the absence of big time pro sports in the area. making the choice rather easy. anyway, think most of you know what i am trying to point out. the jackrabbit women have a very good program. usd is on the upswing to with the hiring of Amy Williams. no doubt the Summit Tourney (in Sioux Falls) has benefited from the run SDSU Jackrabbits have had since the tourney has been in Sioux Falls---and, USD won it last year. http://www.thesummitleague.org/sports/wbkb/2014-15/releases/20150331bmrgej
  24. Lauren Hill has passed away. prayers go out to her family and friends. many of you are probably familiar with her story and her fight with cancer.
  25. someone can correct me if i am wrong, but, isn't Boise "home territory" for Sunny? didn't i read somewhere that was one of the main reasons for leaving? if true, i would be willing to bet that ship has sailed. maybe it's time to take a chance on one of the young, "up and comers". would be great, but, i am really unsure the huskers will be able to attract/pull one of the "top" recruiters out there. guess i am saying i don't think they would leave the programs they are with. just my feeling.
