  1. Nothing yet, When I get to PBA this afternoon I'll post on here whether or not she is suited and ready to go. Also I finally got to listen to Thursday broadcast, and Greisch made a comment about Theriot. Say that if she doesn't come back Romeo & Smith where going to have to pick up the slack. Is that how everyone else heard that? should i assume jeff was talking about the rest of the season? man, with everything coach yori, her staff, and the players have dealt with, kudos go out to all of them for holding together a season that could have really went south. guess it shouldn't be no surprise, as they practically had no bench last year.
  2. yes, huskers have got to get this one at PBA, if you want a chance at being in the top four. i will be rooting for (cough, cough) iowa and illinois on tuesday night. illinois must have played a very good game against OSU. with crawford back, illinois may be turning into the team you don't wanna be playing down the stretch and going into the tourney.
  3. i understand there is basketball left, but, with warmer weather not too far away, i am thinking some or most of you will be spending more time doing more important things. so, just thought i would ask what some of your opinions will be for the husker program looking towards 2015-16. i think there are some fairly big questions where the offense is going to come from. romeo looks like a good one. hope her offense just keeps improving. RT will get a lot of attention---as usual. Smith looks good on the court, but, needs work offensively. Cincore ? Kalenta? think they will give huskers good minutes. not sure what Blackburn and Simon will bring. i know there are other names i didn't mention, like Wood, Ramecieri(sp), and Washington. to keep it fairly short, the way i see things right now, i think a lot will hinge on the game that Shepard will bring the huskers. having that strong post presence (not too mention the hype) could really unleash the others (if you know what i mean). btw, not to take anything away from Cady and Sample---what a pleasure it has been watching the whole team this year. just wish their hard work would have paid off in a couple more "w's". seniors deserved a little better. anyway, just thought it would be interesting how others are looking at next year.

  5. Sure you want to zone Iowa with all of those shooters? They have pretty good ball movement and I would worry about the open shots they would get in that. We dominated the boards also last night, which I'm not sure we do with a zone. But I'm no X and O guy. well, from everything i have learned from watching bb over the years (not pro, though) i would not want to zone a team such as iowa---that can hit from the perimeter like they can.
  6. would like to see huskers take the ball at Doolittle---i think she will foul. would be interesting to see Cincore, Jeffrey, and 'T'---get a rebound and turn them loose!!! tire out the hawk's so perimeter shot isn't as smooth!
  7. sure glad this one is at PBA. gives them a better chance at getting back in the 'w' column. i just see this game as one that has the chance to go a number of different ways---but, will be hoping for a husker 'w'.

  9. just curious if anyone has any insight on RT's foot injury? sprain? mild-severe? i mentioned it in another post, but, if it's only at the point where coach yori is "thinking" about playing her sunday, i let her sit. try and get her as healthy as possible for the last 6. the other day i was looking at the rest of the schedule, thinking 5-1 not out of the realm of possibility (after maryland)---but, if rachel isn't out there, every game she misses is most likely a toss-up. except for the possibility of that wisconsin game. i believe they could win that one without her. bummer. hope she is a quick healer.

  11. read a tweet from Sam McKeweon (sp?). stated there was a breathtaking gap with Cady taking 6 shots and TL taking 28? i didn't get to see the game, just listened to parts with Matt and Jeff. i know Rutgers can play good defense, but, i was quite surprised by that stat. i hope coach yori sits rt against maryland. if she was in a boot for rutgers---seriously doubt she can be much good at maryland. kinda torn on what to do against maryland---i was thinking it could be a game to get the bench a lot of minutes. but, you also don't want to shake the confidence factor. if maryland comes out and starts running away with it---then, let the bench get some experience. chalk that game up and get ready for the home stretch. difficult week.
  12. redsteve, KarlHessEatMy: thanks for the info on JS. the bio on Jess did state that she has excellent footwork around the basket. i wondered if she had the ability to stretch the defense a bit. i could see that turning into a huge benefit for Havers, not to mention the others---but, think it's something Havers could really take advantage of.
  13. The obvious elephant in the room is next year. Havers will be back with two years experience. And of course...Jess...but she will take some time to get into B1G playing shape, and learn the system. Washington will be a new RS inside. Blackburn may well enter the picture. The "system" next year will probably be different....haven't really thought it out...but we'll be different looking team. We should be fairly deep in the guard/wing positions, with Rachel leading the troops i noticed, depending on what site you search, Jess is listed at 6'3" or 6'4". not a big deal, but, that does seem to happen a lot when it comes to height details. for those in-the-know, just what type of game does Jess have? from what i have read so far, gave her excellent marks for her game around the basket, but, does Jess have some range to her offense? since her injury happened when it did, i would guess her chances of being ready for the start of the season or very shortly after are pretty high. that is, as long as she suffers no setbacks.
  14. absolutely. i think more and more fans are realizing that same thing. enjoy that last few games at PBA that all of the seniors are entering.

  16. i was confronted lately with the question, "do you think Maryland will become the UConn of the B1G?" found that interesting and had to think about that for a bit. i could definitely see how and why that question was posed. Mincy, according to the stats, has the most minutes (631) and is a RSr. Howard, who has accumulated 453 minutes, is a Jr. The 3 names you seem to hear the most about and are all starters, Jones, Walker-Kimbrough, and Brown are sophs. Most likely a dominating trio for the next 2 yrs. They also have 3 other freshman that have accumulated over 200 minutes of playing time so far. Pfirman is a jr who has almost reached the 300 mark this year. Then, for 2015, you add the #15 (Brianna Fraser 6-3) and #27 Kiah Gillespie (6-1). So far for 2016, Maryland has commits from #18 Stephanie Jones (6-2), #33 Jenna Staiti (6-5), and #35 Blair Watson (6-0). While i can see Maryland dominating for at least the next couple years, who knows how things will progress. I think as long as Frese stays there (and, i think the only thing that might woo her away is if UConn would be searching for a coach---i would have to believe she would be high on their list). No doubt Frese is in a great region for recruiting---i don't know if they will dominate the B1G like UConn has dominated women's bb, but, i would be willing to bet that as long as Frese is there, they will be a perennial top 3 finisher in the conference.
  17. wow. so glad to admit i was wrong (first 5-7 minutes will set the tone for the game). when michigan jumped out to that lead, i was thinking, ok, the team can whittle away at that lead and give themselves a shot at winning it at the end. i just didn't think they would come out second half and run away with it!!!
  18. practically a must win if you want to keep iowa within reach. goree will get hers, but, you are going to have to limit the outside shooting. huskers must avoid going on any long droughts on offense. i'd be willing to bet we will see another game of 6-7 deep for the huskers, with romeo most likely not seeing the bench (unless she gets into foul trouble). seems to be the mo-op for coach yori and the huskers. i'd be willing to say the first 5-7 minutes will set the tone for the game---if huskers come out cold, it will be a real battle to hang. this would be a very good win with that road trip looming.

  21. i listened to the matt and jeff announce the game. didn't get to see video, so, went over to huskers.com and checked out the highlights: http://www.huskers.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&id=3692059 the part i got the most kick out of was natalie romeo's reaction when three seniors (cady, T, and sample) came to celebrate laudermill's layup +1 with the foul. natalie started to make a move, but, really seemed unsure and then cady and hallie showed up and she just kinda backed off like, "oh, those are the seniors---i better not interrupt their celebration". i just got a chuckle out of that portion of the highlights.

  23. don't wanna give them a free pass to mid-court, though.
  24. an absolute horrible call against rachel!!! which ref made that call? not coach yori's best work on that inbounds play, that's for sure. i just have noooooooooo idea what T and Cady were doing!?! man, idk, but i would have really considered putting havers or even kalenta on the logic (i think she threw the ball in with 4 seconds left). it most likely would have made them throw the ball to one of the corners---not a free throw to midcourtt!!! i was absolutely shocked jennings had a wide open run to the basket from midcourt. no doubt iowa looked like the fresher team in overtime. that last play in regulation seemed to empty the tank.
  25. i am hoping this game turns into a defensive battle rather than offensive. i hope jeffrey is ready to go, but, i wouldn't push her. getting her healthy for the rest of the season is the most important thing.
