  1. what i found rather frustrating---although, not a total shock, 17 of the 23 fouls were on the husker "bigs". i was concerned the Bears athleticism could give the huskers fits in that area. unfortunately, it appears i was right. listening to matt and jeff, don't think there was much of an argument about those calls, just that the refs may not have been quite as consistent on the other end. sounds like havers had an impressive game, but, she also had a number of travel calls? i'm pretty sure she had at least 2 or 3. ouch. rt was rt, but, she did have 6 to's---i am sure the length of the Bears caused a good share. still, the huskers took them to overtime, on the road with some missed opportunities that just might have had them walk out of there with a 'W'.
  2. well, i am gonna guess Cal will have a decent crowd---the men Bear's play St. Mary's(?) before the women's game and fans can get in to the women's game for $1 if the show a ticket from the men's game. really not sure if west coast fans have the attention span to get too excited to sit through back-to-back games. redsteve is spot on---husker defense will be key. don't get caught flat-footed on d. keep range and anigwe in check.
  3. some of you may have listened to 'sports nightly' wednesday night. if you didn't, matt coatney had an interview with natalie romeo. she was actually rather "chatty" compared to some of the comments made about her personality. matt asked her about the trip to california (going home---about 40 miles east) and asked her if she is familiar with the Bears. natalie laughed and stated she thought she knows all of them in one way or another (having played with or against them). matt also asked her about family being there, and, natalie bust out laughing and stated her dad had asked for about 25 tickets. matt asked her what she enjoyed doing most on the court---believe he gave her three options: i remember dropping a 3 was one, running the floor may have been one along with being a leader? sorry, can't remember too well---natalie answered by stating she likes to "sprint"! that is what she enjoys doing the most. nat also stated she does feel more comfortable on the court. stated it does feel quite a bit different out there when comparing last year to this year. didn't really go into details---probably referring to majority of seniors. anyway, nice interview with nat. well done, i say. btw, in case some might be wondering, coach yori (during her segment) stated nothing on maddie simon. no surprise there.
  4. one of the best plays of the evening (imo): the bounce pass from emily wood to rb43 on the running break. just a real good pass and maybe even a better catch for the layup. shows me just how good the hands of rb43 are. in fact, woody had 2 or 3 bounce passes that were really impressive. let's hope simon is a fast healer. wondering if Washington's situation isn't classroom related?
  5. cal vs sacramento st: records fall hornets 80 3 pt'er?!? http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaw/2015/12/06/records-fall-as-no-18-cal-women-beat-sacramento-st-117-99/76900278/
  6. should be a game where everyone gets involved. actually, this might be a good opportunity to work on the perimeter shooting a bit.
  7. Violet?!? who's Violet?
  8. i believe 4 of the starters average double figures for points scored. gabby green is averaging 6.1 pts/game. polls/rpi for Cal Bears: ncaa.com rpi: 83rd sagarin : 51 woman's coaches poll: 17 ap poll: 18
  9. will be a tough road game. i expect Bears will be one of the most athletic squads the Huskers will face this season.
  10. yes, i just caught a glimpse on BTNplus. i wondered if that wasn't her and thought that was a bit odd---considering the volleyball tourney starts this weekend. i guess coach cook must have gave his blessing for her to be on the bench. wow! is RB43 fun to watch!!! i know it's nothing new, but, what a game she had. believe she had 15 possessions alone she took away from NCState (rebounds and the charges). was a little curious about jess---there were periods where, imo, she just didn't seem right. there were flashes of "the jess", but, i just thought something wasn't clicking---and, i understand, for the most part, they were collapsing on her. maybe a bug going around, i don't know . hope it's not the leg, and, i really don't think it is. can't see anything that would point in that direction. i watched the game on BTNplus, and have matt and jeff on the radio. even if it isn't synched right, i think they are great to listen to. while watching, i believe jeff stated kalenta has been a scoring machine in practice. so glad it looks like things are coming around for her. she had very productive minutes on the court. was laughing at jeff---kalenta had another option of letting loose another3 and jeff sure was egging her on to shoot it. btw, i could see myself agreeing with HUD about maddie simon possibly getting more and more minutes in place of clark. not that clark wouldn't be in rotation, just appears to me simon's game is on the upswing and clark's game seems to have leveled off---at least at this point of the season. maybe clark is getting a little frustrated with the 3 not coming around as well as she had hoped. i really hope her shot does comes around, but, hard not to notice the improvement in simon's game. all these options---fun!!! next up! Me Too! If you find a way to sync it better (even if it isn't precise) let us know. My radio (internet stream) was a couple of minutes ahead of the video stream - just too much differential to be able to enjoy (other than their overall excitement). I was hoping pausing the radio would result in better sync, but No Joy! i had BTNplus on my laptop and listened to matt and jeff from huskers.com using my cellphone---i am trying to "guesstimate" on the differential---around 15-20 seconds? positive it was not even close to being a couple minutes. that would be pretty difficult to manage.

  12. Huskers will have height advantage with the starting lineups, but, i expect this to be a battle. Unless Huskers let loose with the 3's, i'm thinking an 8-12pt win. wouldn't surprise me at all if NC State's defense causes Huskers some problems throughout the contest.
  13. i noticed that DePaul's two transfers from Illinois (Coleman and Grant) must have got some kind of waiver (or whatever) from the NCAA to play this season. they are showing up in the box scores. i suppose the situation at Illinois must have caused the NCAA to let them become eligible right away? DePaul puts up a lot of 3's. they just might give a lot of teams fits as the season moves on. think they were rated in top 15-20, last i noticed.

  15. a little early yet to be concerned about the perimeter shooting. especially with Clark. one thing that sticks out with me, is, i think coach yori has them more concerned with playing better defense. hopefully, perimeter game will come around soon. i'll be more concerned about it if there isn't more improvement the closer the huskers get to the regular season.
  16. "She's got about all the skills...not a leaper." well, not sure i agree there. uconn really doesn't need her under the basket because she is so strong playing off the wing. she just has all the skills and i think if she had to be underneath, she could hold her own. a couple times she did go to the basket (one on a rebound), she got up there---a lot of posts weren't gonna block that shot. i didn't think the huskers played "scared"---it's just that level of competition will beat you down. one big difference, many of the shots that the huskers missed around the basket---uconn doesn't miss those---or rarely.
  17. think uconn could win nc without even trying. bring'em home and get ready for the next one. GBR!!!
  18. according to hero sports: http://herosports.com/collegebasketball/deadliest-scorers-d1-womens-basketball-kelsey-plum-mitchell-minato/
  19. after the disappointing husker loss, i turned on the Paradise Jam where Maryland was playing SDSU. caught most of the 4th quarter. to my surprise, SDSU had a took a small lead with about 5+ minutes left, but, got in the position where they had to foul with less than a minute left and Maryland won 62-55. noticed Brenda Frese jumping up and down and throwing a fit once. maybe just "one of those games" for Maryland and overlooking SDSU. anyway, will be interesting to see how Maryland progresses. sure looked beatable from what i saw.
  20. agree with Fastbreaker---i would guess 4-2. redsteve stated the "unknown"---"are we pretty good?...or...are the opponents so far just not good at all?" i would say it's a mix---huskers are good, but, no doubt, weak opponents so far. with UConn, just play the game and move on. i hope they can make a better showing than OSU. NC State should be interesting test at PBA---Creighton should too. think it's good the huskers are playing at home. may have posted this earlier, but, watched a couple of Cal games last season. very athletic team---in fact, probably top 5 athletic teams in the country (yes, i know, last year). think they did lose two starters to graduation, and, also think one got kicked off. not sure what they have for replacements, but, imagine that is going to be a tough road game. don't think Evansville and No Ariz will be blowouts, but, should win. i say huskers go without a road win in the OOC schedule.
  21. just curious. anyone know what other offers Maddie Simon had available to her? what little i have seen, i sure am impressed with her game. handles ball very well, really impressed with her jumpshot (form-wise), moves very well. could she turn out to be the "steal" of the 2015 class? she can create some tough mismatches. husker followers knew what the huskers were getting with all the talk of rb43 and jess, but, simon is also very impressive.
  22. i noticed they have two 6'4" posts listed on roster. when i checked their stats, one isn't even listed and the other (rs/junior?) played only 12 minutes in their loss the other night. after that, redsteve is right---they are pretty small.
  23. ^^^this. once you listen/watch KC, it is easy to see why coach yori brought her on board. wonder if Alicia Ostrander is getting a bit anxious to join this team?!? i say that a little "tongue-in-cheek"---i am sure she has one goal in mind at the moment.
  24. And I think it's "Page" not "Paige." that's how much i care...
  25. i hope that is the final word on the Paige girls. let's move on.
