  1. most conferences you have to sit out 2 years and lose a year if you transfer within the conf. If Big 10 has that rule that would not make Nu a likely option for White.
  2. Row she missed almost all of her sr. season I believe. She was Missouri valley conf. player of the year her jr season. She graduated from drake so she is immediately illegible to play and has one season left (since they gave her a medical redshirt for her knee injury that occurred so early in her sr. year at drake).
  3. she is a great kid also. Will be a good presence in the locker room. we are not losing any post players. Just added a big body.
  4. ksu really likes tall kids in that zone. They like to play slow offensively and keep the score down with the zone so they prefer tall guards over short fast water bug guards.
  5. she will be 17 in july. started a year early and skipped 8th grade also
  6. Shimmey got a promotion and is the top asst. at Florida. Also, if you look at her resume she never stays anywhere more than approx. 3-4 years. Paige situation raises zero questions on NU's end. 75 % of womens teams have kids leave every year. Nature of womens d1 bball.
  7. Okla. State has a Kansas girl from McPherson Katelyn Loecker who is a nice player and great kid. As far as I know she is staying, but it sounds like things are rough down there right now.
  8. Plus I would argue how many "high profile womens assts." are there even. We picked Shimmey up after she got fired from Saint Louis, She is a great person with lots of personality and fun to be around, but not sure she was "high profile" when we got her. In my opinion recruiting coordinator position is about youthful energy and ability to spend tireless hours on the road, and in gyms. Shimmey did that well because she is single and a road warrior, and has a youthful personality, but normally a lot of recruiting coordinators are young. Kids relate to younger coaches in everyday conversation, text exchanges, etc better than older ones sometimes.
  9. How good of a player somebody is has zero relationship to how good of a coach they are. Plenty of good players can't coach, and plenty of avg to poor players can really coach.
  10. another possibility: http://www.godrakebulldogs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=71377&SPID=8128&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=15700&ATCLID=209538566&Q_SEASON=2014

  12. This is a case of a good kid making a bad decision. It will be handled internally, a lesson will be learned, and doubt it is ever an issue again.
  13. Her dad is not going to be on KSU staff in my opinion. Most people around here believe Lanie will end up at KSU. The sisters and family are very close and would be surprised if they separate.
  14. What ever happened to grow up, toughen up, and get better if you aren't playing as much as you want.
  15. Sad that kids are so soft, and pampered that they always think grass is greener somewhere else. Reality is rankings and recruiting services are terrible for kids and their parents.
  16. I think a lot of people are forgetting about Washington. She is really fast, and strong. She should be ready to really compete for playing time next year.
  17. She is doing fine and will keep getting better. She may need to relax but the fans need to relax too. Rankings are terrible for kids because they create a fan, kid, and parent expectation that creates unrealistic pressure and expectations. I see this all the time in Kansas with KU mens team always having TOP 50 kids. Reality is at the BCS level EVERYBODY is good. Most the kids that are highly ranked, boys and girls, have always had a physical advantage over almost everybody they played against growing up. At the BCS almost all of them lose the physical advantage and have to learn to compensate with plan b, plan c, etc. They have to turn up their motor and find new ways to be effective. It is a process that takes time for 90% of the kids. I heard Bill Self say one time kids ra ranked 1-10 u usually know are going to be good immediately; but the difference between kid ranked 30,90, and 135 is really slight and could be who saw them what game with they did or didn't play their best. Chandler, Nat and jas are high level recruits who will have GREAT careers. Playing high minutes on a ncaa tourney caliber team as a freshman and making a huge impact is the exception for high level kids, not the norm.
  18. This is a great group of kids on and off the court all the way from the sr. class down through the freshman. It is easy to root for all of them to be successful. Natalie is starting to have some major success from time to time. I am sure Chandler and Jasmine's big days are coming too. They will get plenty of opportunities next year.
  19. I don't think it is against the rules. We have pulled that trick in Kansas a few times -- Ie) father ed manning coach to get a guy named danny manning; and hired Mario chalmers dad to get Mario. Both those worked out pretty good for ku. lol
  20. by the way your comment "defense is not about running up the floor fast is crazy". If you get beat down the court and give up open layups all the weak side help, one on one defense etc. you reference doesn't even come into play because the other team doesn't have to set up a half court offense. -- I think Chandler is our most talented freshman. They are trying to teach her to play hard with simple reinforcement "you play hard you stay in" but "you jog back you sit". She is a competitive kid. Won't take her long to figure it out.
  21. Idaho husker. You win I give up. -- but I said nothing negative about any player. Your posts were very negative starting with the title of the thread.
  22. Natalie is a better defender than Chandler and Jasmine right now today. And I love Chandler and Jasmine. My comment is not a negative comment towards them. Chandler doesn't play hard consistently yet, and Jasmine can't physically play hard long stretches yet. --Go back and watch the game. Chandler got benched for slowly jogging back on defense after missing a shot. When she plays harder she will play more because she has tons of talent.
  23. The initial post on this string is silly. We have several very good freshman, but like most freshman around the country they have lots of things to work on to polish up their games as they prepare to play bigger roles on NU's team in the future. Chandler has the best college bball body of the freshman, and moves very well. Right now, she doesn't play more because she doesn't play hard all the time and takes plays off. she needs to tighten up her handles (dribble harder and lower) and put a little more arch on her shot. All 3 things are easily correctable and she will be a very good player for NU in the future. -- Natalie plays more than Chandler right now because she plays way harder and is more active. She isn't nearly as long as chandler, and right now she needs to work on getting in the paint to pass better to set up others for easy shots. She is a solid, but still streaky perimeter shooter. Earlier in the season she got to the paint some to try to score, but got a lot blocked because of the increased length of the college level post players. She too will be a great player for NU. She is a good enough athlete to get to the paint and pass, and will develop that as she progresses. Chandler and Natalie will play side by side in the starting lineup for a large percentage of their college careers if they both stay healthy.--Jasmine has a nice college build, and is versatile and will also be a good player. She needs to get herself in great shape and stay their. Right now she can go hard for a minute or two at the level they want her to play at. Going forward she needs to be able to play that hard for longer stretches so they can leave her in longer. -- Taking cheap shots on message boards at college kids is pathetic. yes several of out players had a hard time staying in front of Mitchell yesterday, including Natalie, but the kids leads the country in scoring for a reason -- she is damn good. Lots of quality players with way more experience than our freshman have been lit up by her this year also.
  24. The basketball iq and toughness of Emily cady and hallie will be missed greatly. You cannot underestimate how critical that is to our success.
  25. So many factors play into that though most notably margin of victory and foul trouble. For instance Iowa's bench minutes were inflated because big kid had to sit out most of the first half. Had she not been in foul trouble she would have been in most if not all of those minutes.
