  1. Lue is down to the final two for the Cleveland job.
  2. I noticed that during this past season. Up until now I was probably the only one in the world who thought that was somewhat funny.
  3. The FIBA Basketball World Cup will be held this August 30- September 14th. They have changed the name of the FIBA world championships to the world cup this time around. And the FIFA World Cup is no secret to anyone not living under a rock, whether you want to hear about it or not. Personally I think this year will be exciting because Argentina, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Uruguay, Netherlands and Belgium are all considered favorites and that's not even mentioning the numerous dark horses. Should be one of the most competitive world championship events for any sport in a long time. Looking for some tight, competitive games after watching this years NBA playoffs. Not living under a flipping rock...it was a joke...perhaps in part due to the subject appearing where it started. When I did something similar, the subject/topic was moved. I got that it was a joke. Sarcasm doesn't translate well.
  4. Hup Holland. They are second favorite team. They are the reason I love soccer so much. Before tiki taka there was Cruyff's total football, the soccer version of a 5 man motion where anyone can end up anywhere but with 10 field players not a mere 5. I'm not that old but it was still beautiful in the late 80's with the likes of Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, and Frank Rijkaard. And yes I did look up how to spell those names. van Basten might be the greatest soccer player no one in America has ever heard of.

  6. Except we didn't run that much motion offense this past year. Hopefully as the players are here longer they will be more effective in that system and they can spend more time in the motion. Perception vs. Reality...we certainly run the motion offense, but we run a lot of set plays as well. "Petteway, who transferred from Texas Tech, is scoring 18 points a game in Miles' motion offense and was named first-team all-conference." http://msn.foxsports.com/college-basketball/story/tim-miles-popularity-soaring-among-nebraska-fans-031014 http://bigstory.ap.org/article/tim-miles-popularity-soaring-among-nebraska-fans http://www.syskos.com/product/333/motionoffense http://www.dailynebraskan.com/sports/basketball/article_ef73556a-5f94-11e2-8937-0019bb30f31a.html The perception is we run a lot of motion, the reality is we don't. We certainly run some motion but without breaking down all the game tapes I would feel safe saying well OVER 50% of the time on offense we are NOT in a motion. When we needed a bucket, Miles was calling a set, but most coaches want more control at those times.

  8. As see it, NU has the better practice facility, CU the better arena. No
  9. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jordami01.html #1 MVP award shares #1 PPG #1 Player Efficiency Rating #1 Win Shares per 48 minutes If being in the top 10 instead of being #1 is your definition of overrated...I guess. He's not knocking anyone out of the top 4. You could make the argument he deserves to be there over Hakeem. I won't. Yes that is my definition of over-rated. Top 10 definitely but I see no criteria that puts him on top as the GOAT. And I'd rather have Ewing than O'Neal. I might have Hakeem sitting number 2 on my list.
  10. With all due respect, I've always been of the camp that Michael has always been over-rated. One of the greatest of course, but by what criteria do you claim he is THE greatest? He's not the biggest winner - Bill Russell. He's not the greatest scorer - Abdul-Jabar all time and Wilt for game and season. Not the best all-around player - Oscar and Magic cleaned up the triple doubles. Oscar averaged a triple double for an entire season. He came around at the right time TV-wise. Magic may have had the all-time greatest single game performance in game 6 of the 1980 NBA finals vs. Philadelphia. Kareem out with an ankle and Magic steps in to jump center and goes off for 42 points, 14 of 14 from the free throw line, 15 rebounds, seven assists, and 3 steals. I watched that game on tape delay after the 10:00 news. Magic and Larry save the NBA, and you have this fabulous player who is made for TV that comes along right after them. That guy would have been the ABA version of Dr. J if anyone would have seen that version play. No player (that I've seen, I not THAT old) has been given the benefit of the doubt like Michael. Ask Bryon Russell about that. Michael is Michael and is a great one, but the 1998 finals by all rights should have gone to a game 7. The announcer has the audacity to say Russell slips on the play after Michael pushes him down to get open. David Stern decided to sell the NBA by selling the stars and this greatest ever myth was made up as an ad campaign. And yes, I admit he started that campaign with the Magic/Bird rivalry. It made great TV and the way Michael played made great TV. We are all the product of our youth and love the players of "our" era. So I admit I may be bias but I would prefer both Larry and Magic over Michael if I was starting a team. And along those lines, How is Patrick Ewing not on the list of centers?
  11. Magic and anyone else on the list but I still think Olajuwan is by far and away the biggest steal.
  12. http://ballislife.com/game-create-an-all-time-starting-five-with-15/ People seemed to be having fun with the All Devaney Team I thought I post this. Olajuwon is a steal for $1.
  13. It's a big country. Statistically speaking someone has to die during the month. Their problem is going to be paying for it and then the Olympics. I love watching both events, but why any country would want either one is beyond me. They are the proverbial money pits. Greece's economic problems started with the debt created by their Olympics. European debt...you can't get much more off topic for a Nebraska basketball board than that. Is there some sort of boobie prize for that.
  14. There are the NBA play offs now, the World Cup starts in two weeks and there is always a Law and Order marathon on some channel. . . Ya, I hate the off season too.
  15. Watching clips of Andrew White it was like he really reminds me of someone. Took me forever, but build and style of play = Askia Jones. <<< Goes to Google to look up who Askia Jones is He hung like 60 some on Fresno in the NIT

  17. Los Angeles Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue will interview for the Cleveland Cavaliers' head-coaching job late next week, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Read that, turned the TV on and stumbled across TWCSC showing Metro Retro: Central vs. Raytown from 1995 with Tyronn Lue playing high school ball. Man that guy was quick.
  18. Anyone can play m-4-m. You just adjust your pick up point based on foot speed. I like some of the concepts but not a big fan of the pack line in its entirety but when you take the deny part out of your man defense and are already in help position it takes away some of the need for lateral quickness. And when we are talking about quickness defensively we are talking about lateral quickness. In theory the pack line provides help quicker when your lateral quickness lets you down.
  19. There are different rotations you can do with the 1-3-1 but the standard variety does not have the post defender "down low." The middle man is the primary low block defender & the bottom rotates out to guard the corner and usually helps trap the short corner.
  20. At this point the season is over. There is no need to make excuses until next year and hopefully there won't be any need to by next year.
  21. vs everyone's all-athlete team Baylor - 19 points & 6 blocks, unstoppable vs Arizona with 29 points. He does quite well against athletes thank you.
  22. Journal Star says yes http://m.pjstar.com/article/20140410/SPORTS/140419879/10930/SPORTS
  23. Chuck was a freak and even more so when you realize he was giving up 4 plus inches to his counterpart every night. He has admitted on numerous occasions to be only slightly over 6'4 regardless what his "official" height was listed at.
