Here are his official visits, as of the August 19 tweet above: Missouri: Sept 1-3 Rice: Sept 8-10 Xavier: Sept 22-24 Nebraska: Sept 29-Oct 1st Ohio State: Oct 7-9 So . . . before the Rice, Xavier, Nebraska and Ohio State visits even happen, he's (i) eliminated Nebraska and Ohio State, and (ii) added Tulsa. Go figure.

Yeah. And Murray went 3 of 13 from three that game—Keisei wore him out.

But . . . glass-nearly-empty curmudgeon posts are always delightful.

So . . . What’s the level of competition he’s been playing against? Is it B1G quality? Or is it substantially better or worse?

Actually, the real question is this: How well will the players we have work together to make the whole far greater than the sum of its parts?
-
Sounds like they had everyone there. Here’s from an Illini news source quoting Underwood: ”A full July with the entire team together made a difference,” and "We'll play everybody over there.”

According to Robin Washut: “Coleman chose the Huskers over Michigan, Central Florida, Ole Miss, Auburn, Oklahoma State, and more.”

USC & UCLA TO JOIN BIG TEN (beginning 2024)!

Is this the Big East’s position on conference realignment? -
Robin Washut says a point guard commit may happen soon.

Scoring--a lot--has always been a focus for Cale. This is from his Huskers.com bio: Before Nebraska. . . He averaged 17.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 3.6 steals per game. Jacobsen set the Class C-1 state tournament record with a 43-point performance in a win over Kearney Catholic and was tabbed to the all-tournament team covering all six classes. He finished his four-year varsity career with 1,481 career points, despite suffering a torn ACL in his first game of his junior season.

So . . . what are the portal rules on this? Let's say, hypothetically, that Mulcahy wants to revoke his enrollment and accepted scholarship and NIL deal at Washington and transfer to a different school. Would he be allowed to do so and play this coming season under transfer portal rules? Would it make a difference if the Washington side of Mulcahy's NIL failed to come through on what was promised?

Didn’t we recently land a 7 footer?

Looks like it. This is from 10/11 News (emphasis added): “Diop selected Nebraska after offers from Ole Miss, Arizona State, Seton Hall and Washington State. He joins Eli Rice as freshmen on the Huskers’ 2023-24 roster.”

The Charlotte Observer, in reporting today on Bryce McGowens' progress, says: Bryce's "original two-way contract" became "converted into a four-year $7.5 million standard NBA deal in March" because "McGowens' rookie season was solid"; Bryce "finished extremely strong, posting a career high of 22 points in the finale in Cleveland"; "The largest scoring outputs of his young career came in the last three games"; and Bryce "also had multiple assists in seven consecutive games."

"It is difficult to make predictions, especially about the future." --famous quote from an unknown source "That's why they play the game." Illinois always has an excellent team with superb athletes . . . but it folds in the NCAA tournament. Nebraska is always rated low . . . and sometimes it beats expectations by substantial margins (we all predict the coming season to beat Rothstein's expectations).

True. That's a disappointment, and there is uncertainty ahead (there always is). But there are a number of positives for recruiting: (i) the new pitching coach, and (ii) 2023 draft results. And there have been serious injury issues (Nebraska seems to have more than its share . . . in every sport). Consider these excerpts from an April 2023 story on the injury-cursed Will Walsh: Will Walsh didn’t play baseball during his first year of college. The following year, he barely saw the field. In both instances, Walsh was battling injuries. “I had Tommy John’s surgery,” Walsh recalled. “I had my hamate bone removed, had my right labrum redone, and a left MCL repair.” Each of the injuries required surgery, which nearly derailed the Nebraska utility player’s career. Through each of the health setbacks, the Kansas City native continued to stay positive while working toward a recovery. The reward of his labor has finally arrived. Walsh has landed a spot in Nebraska’s pitching rotation. He is scheduled to start Sunday’s series finale at Michigan. Walsh was elevated to the Huskers’ rotation after a pair of dominant outings last month. He struck out 15 batters in back-to-back pitching appearances. Currently, Walsh owns a 2.87 ERA, which ranks among the best on the team. On Nebraska’s official roster, Walsh is listed as a utility player. He’s a 2-way contributor who was in the Huskers’ opening day starting lineup. When not pitching, Walsh plays first base or designated hitter. “Anyone that was around our team and watched us take (batting practice) was like ‘Who is that guy?’” Bolt said. “He was dropping bombs. He’s been around (and) always had a great attitude. The game is paying him back.”
