According to On3, Nebraska is still in the mix for William Kyle III.

According to his Rutgers bio, Gavin Griffiths: "was ranked the No. 20 recruit in the country (247 Sports)" and "was upgraded from a four-star recruit to a five-star recruit in January of 2023." Replies to the email linked above say Griffiths will be a "Friar." But how's this for a Fred Hoiberg recruiting niche: taking former five stars that underperformed elsewhere (e.g., Griffiths and Biliew) and developing them into what they were projected to be? That would be cool.

Frankie Fidler - Transfer -> Mich State
Swan88 replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
For what it’s worth, here are a few posts from yesterday on Red Sea Scrolls in a Frankie Fidler thread: ”Frankie is golfing with Sam Hoiberg today….maybe a good sign!”; later yesterday, “Pretty sure fiddler at Barry’s right now“; and still later, “Can confirm. Surrounded by the ladies.” -
Purdue was projected as having too much for the Huskers. That’s why they play the game.

Ha! The poster most certainly could be a troll. But that post came with an in-person and court-level photo from the 3 point contest with both Rienke and Keisei in the photo. Also, the poster seems to be a genuine Husker fan. For example, here is one of his posts on Red Sea Scrolls in a string on caravaning to the B1G Tournament in Minneapolis: "Headed up Friday, Haven't got tickets yet but will probably purchase tomorrow. If anyone has 3 extras in Lower Level for Friday or Saturday looking to sell, let me know before we purchase. GBR!"

A poster on Red Sea Scrolls reports that he talked to Rienke Mast last night at the 3-point contest. He writes that Mast says he's "coming back for sure" next season and that "Fred's got a plan in the works." Sounds good to me!!!

The video has him bringing the ball up the floor a number of times. Any possibility he might be a reincarnation of Delano Banton?

This video is from a year ago.

Washut says On3's "crystal ball" for Fidler is merely an algorithm thing: it popped automatically because (i) he's from Nebraska, and (ii) he visited here. But that being said, what's up with Fidler? Supposedly he's heading to Wisconsin . . . but he hasn't pulled the trigger. Why wait, if you've decided. The last item on Frankie's X (Twitter) page is a repost of Sam Hoiberg's tweet of Frankie in a Husker uniform, dated February 28.

From On3: Iowa State F Omaha Biliew Intel: Omaha Biliew entered the college ranks with lofty expectations. The 6-8 forward is a former five-star prospect but didn’t necessarily get to show off his ability in Aimes this season. Nebraska is the school I’ve heard mentioned the most with him, along with Kansas State. The former McDonald’s All-American is looking to make a big impact during his sophomore season.

The Illinois basketball program apparently does not espouse the kindness value—based on the head coach’s occasional harsh demeanor.

At N -- according to Washut

Cool! Thanks for this information, Auroran. Tom Kropp and Johnny Rodgers would be contemporaries (Tom born in 1953 and Johnny born in 1951).
-
That's an interesting combination of players: both are from Aurora, and both played college basketball in Nebraska--but not at the state school (i.e., "The University," as we used to call it back in Tom Kropp's day). Tom Kropp is among the all-time best Nebraska athletes, but he is relatively unknown.
-
Which one? Red Sea Scrolls isn’t reporting that.
-
What are the interwebs saying about Frankie Fidler?
-
Would Omaha Biliew and William Kyle III be an either/or possibility (assuming we were to have a shot at both)?
-
Ha! Yeah. And that’s what everyone said when we beat Purdue by 16 this season,

Illinois lays another egg in the Tourney. I didn’t watch the game. What happened in the second half? It’s like the reverse of our game against Illinois in the B1G Tourney. We were ahead by 15 until Illinois went into its running back style of play (but without helmets and shoulder pads), and the refs let them do it.

Everything changes. That’s a constant—which is on steroids these days. In sports, coaches and teams must adjust or fade away. That’s why the long-standing blue bloods don’t like the new way and are at risk: their old way of prevailing no longer works. And that’s one thing I love about what our new athletic director said at his introductory speech: “Today it’s NIL. Tomorrow it will be something else.”

Word on the street is that two of them are staying-with or going-to Wisconsin. I've heard no street word on the third. So . . . we had the same discussion a year ago about Chucky. Who thinks there is even a remote chance of Chucky (or another Bellevue West grad) coming to Nebraska this second time around? As to the two in the portal, they are both excellent players, and we'd love to have them. But if they don't want to come here (or if they aren't our highest priorities), there are other excellent players available. Further, it's amazing to me that a Nebraska player would go to another B1G school, instead of wanting to be the next Sam Griesel or Josiah Allick--with all the love and notoriety they have achieved across the entire state and its loyal fans.

Frankie’s visit is tomorrow: “A source confirmed to HuskerOnline that Fidler has locked in an unofficial visit to Lincoln on Thursday.”
