Nope...if we have to rely on a freshman walk-on, that would be problematic

2017 G Justin Costello [NU walk-on]
Huskerpapa replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Should be a very good practice/scout team player for us. Anything more will likely be unexpected, surprising and a gift. -
Soon as I saw him in warm ups, we started to chatter about in the stands. I am glad he is back.

Just re-watched the game. Didn't notice it live but I am pretty sure I saw Eichorst, Bounds and Green sitting in the student section. -
I think against MSU the starters will be: Tai Glynn MJ Ed Evan

The only "concern" I have had about this team is that we seem to play to the level of the competition. If we play every game like we did against Maryland, Indiana, Purdue, UCLA and a few others, we may be a top ten team. Our let-downs tend to be mental, not physical. To me, that is a sign of a young team. Sure it is a possible excuse; not a reason, but nonetheless, it seems plausible.

This was one of the "issues" I had when he played though...the dude camps in the lane. He literally pushed his way to the rim and was simply a statue in there. I believe he was called for 3 seconds once, maybe twice. But he could have been called every single time. Just saying... -

I won't go so far as to say that the calls favored us, but I do believe it was a pretty well called game. They let the game flow, they let the game play out physically, but not brutally. -
I kind of think Tai will have no residual issues Thursday. He did roll his ankle, but I think his tank was empty. He played hard for 30+ minutes. He would have had another 37 to 38 minute outing today. Every time he went to the hole today, he took a pounding. Plus, he was chasing wings from one end to the court to the other. I was tired just watching him.

Should we shut down Ed for the year?

He must have been close to playing today (game time decision). I am sort of betting he will see time against the Spartans. -

Unreal size! I don't care who the dude is next to him, the player looks small in comparison. He is kind of like the Russian dude in the Rocky movie. -

Miles did mention Isaiah in his post game interview. Needless to say, Isaiah is now the player on the "hot" seat whereby his practices et al will dictate playing time. I said this in an earlier thread, I believe Isaiah has a boatload of talent and is going to be a great one. But at this moment, his inability to play physical and his reluctance in taking his shots and the appearance of a lack of confidence all are working against him. -

Think about this for just a minute, we defeated a top 20 team despite subpar offensive games from Tai, Glynn and Evan; and without Ed. -

I came to the game nearly recovered from the flu, bronchitis and sinus infection. Feeling pretty good, voice back, stopped coughing, overall, much better. I left the game, coughing, not able to talk and feeling great, but like crap. Does that make any sense. -

Thanks for asking the question. I am wondering who was in the house as well! -

We played an aggressive, tough ass game today. Man, that was fun to watch! Players stepped up big time. - Honestly the only player who struggled was Isaiah. - Jordy played well and seemed to have the light come on offensively in the second half. - MJ was puking all over the place, had to have an IV at half time, but his offensive/defensive spurt towards the end was invaluable. - Tai ran his well dry today. Great effort. - Glynn had his quickness matched today. He also fell down again and picked up a foul in the process, but overall great effort and game. - Need a bit more offense out of Evan, but he played really well on defense. - Jeriah, welcome back young man. Good defense. We were switching today and that seemed to help him. His offense...EXCELLENT! - Jack, wow! And I am talking about his defense. His offense was pretty darn good as well. Point is, this was a great team win. If we review the thread regarding offense, this is what I was talking about. We drive to the rim and kick it to an open man, and today, those shots were hit. It makes a difference. I am so glad we are back in the win column. Back in the top half of the league as well. -
I was going to say...his offensive game was awesome, but his defense was excellent. Jack played the PF position today and he manned up. He stuck his nose into the action and created a match up problem on the offensive side. Great job Jack (and Jeriah).

Sure, you shut him down IF he is hurt. If he is healthy, I am confused as to why you wouldn't play him?
